Students' life in UniMAP is very happening. Even though there are no cinemas, no big shopping complexes, no themeparks (you know...it's PERLIS...permai lagi mempersona), the events in the university itself is enough to keep you occupied.

Classes and labs on weekdays, co-curricular activities on weekends plus a trip or two to Padang Besar or Alor Star (some even went as far as Penang) will make your 4-year's stay in Perlis a very memorable one.

For you current students and would-be students out there, do cherish the moments you have with your peers. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

for people that got sad entering this uni instead of other big shot uni... haha...

2)alotsetar(wah this... could say gt 4 times adi)
3)padang besar(once... n nvr again... ntg thr to see.. lolx...)
4)bukit ayer(waterfall area twice)
5)kl(for robocon.. lolx)

To be honest with ya, when I knew I got a place in UniMAP 4 years ago, I was like "HUH??!! Perlis ka?? Why give me Perlis lar?"

When I finally graduated, I was like "Wahh.... Can graduate! Don't know if I get USM I can graduate or not..."

Perlis Permai Mempersona... ^^

althou i agree with two above but newcomer dun giv impression that UniMAP is GREAT or AWESOME yet, everyone hav diff perception, a man's honey is another man's poison, well said. Not everyone in unimap hav happening life, I've seen big portion of the student only stay in hostel and study or some dota everyday, goin to penang/thailand/alor star cost money and kindly remember PTPTN only giv you RM1.5~1.7k a sem which is approximately 6month, for those who got family support them every month giv allowance no problem to travel here and there, but I have friends who doesnt have this lucky chance, they survive solely on PTPTN, and I feel for them...one month only can spend RM300 for food, extra entertainment comes from own savings, sometimes want to hav nice dinner oso hav to think twice...not everyone is fortunate please bear in mind

u guys might still be pondering whether u shd take up dat offer to study in unimap.. mayb u r worried about d recognition of d uni..? or mayb u r nt sure about d study environment in and around d university.. or mayb u haf encountered dis situation:

it did hampered my determination to enter unimap at d first place.. but at last, i took up d offer, reluctantly..

having spent four years in unimap and in perlis.. n a look back to those four years.. i would say it was one of d best times i haf ever had in my life.. i'd realy doubt dat i wil haf d same quality memories if i spent my four years elsewhere..

most often than not, its dat three-digit cgpa dat counts d most after d four years u spent in university.. d name of d university carries very minimal weight.. so dont stress so much on d recognition of d university..

well, i did not get any FAMA scholarship from my hometown.. and i did survive solely on d ptptn loan.. i was very happy wif d quality of my university life.. i, on an occassional basis, travelled elsewhere for entertainment..

it all boils down to how wisely u manage ur money.. u wil haf to b thrifty when it is required, and spend whr it is worthwhile..

There is always an exception to every case...but in your case, it's a rare exception, I would say.

haha.. i aso survived on ptptn... still can go trip.. lolx... depends on how people define trip.. if got thr buy lot stuff of cz cant.. i go just to hav gud time wit frens. lolx..

oli last sem i need abit FAMA fund towards the end of my sem... project ruin my planning.. lolx....

to all newcomers.. plan ur funds wisely.. and u can be independent.. haha

Some dirty secret to share... I hope no unimap admins are seeing this...

Cooking - Actually you can 'secretly' bring in the cooking utensil eg rice cooker to cook, if you dare enough to break the rule like us. My housemates cooked spagetti, keropok lekor, a whole course of dinner during puasa with rice cooker But u must remember to hide it during spotcheck, especially those staying in wang ulu bcoz I heard their spotcheck very very strict.

My previous neighbor even brought in the whole set of dapur: gas stove, gas tong, wok etc...

Car for first years - Not really sure what is the main reason that first years are not allowed to bring in vehicles. If talking about accident, the senior years are involved too, so that cannot count. Anyway, u can borrow your senior's name to apply sticker for your car/motor, if your senior is agree with it.

Internet security - I agree with the hacker thing. A friend successfully hacked in unimap system and looked through our results He didn't cause us any harm lah, he pointed out bcoz the system's security is very weak, not hard to hack in. So, just careful. So far no problem on my side yet...
