illegal stuff in unimap hostel:
hair dryer (my fren one kena rampas) rice cooker(this one curi curi bawa put under bed can ady) television radio karaoke set aircond dog for those who bring laptop, please ensure 24/7 surveillance on your property, already many theft on laptop and personal belonging happen in UniMAP, mostly when end sem is near where most of the student went back to hometown for study week. and always remember save a copy of your work/project because got a case happen before 4th year student Final Year Project save only in laptop and then got stolen days before exam starts, kena repeat damn sad... for girls living in wg.ulu, please take care of your safety because rape cases happen before and dont try to do anything romantic in study room below the hostel coz the pak guard will be watching free show oh ya, watch out for missing sandals/slippers too, sometimes your housemate will wear it out to fren hse and then forgot to wear it back finally, dun bring too many thing to hostel, because when end sem, you have to clear the house and bring evrything back, of course they have store room for u to put ur stuff but put only books/paper but not shoes, some time baldi oso got ppl wan take my 2cent |

oh ya forgot to mention, to new comer, prepare to taste perlis hard water, dun drink the tap water!! there is no water filter inside hostel room but provided is a vending machine for drinking water in your hostel area, mostly RO water, for your own health purpose, dun drink the bottom part of the water inside your water heater, if you notice properly, the heating coil inside the heater will have white residue on it due to chemical reaction with water

one more thing, every house in hostel is provided with 1 LAN port on the wall, you need buy router yourself to share among housemate but prepare to face internet censoredship+internet downtime in hostel, sometime the unimap portal oso will slow (got one time they blocked facebook and all the student RAGE!)
internet is accessible from 4am to 2am in wg ulu, kg.wai is 5am to 3am daily there is 3hour break time for the server to cool down in the midnite during peak hour like after class hour/7pm++ internet is superb busy and sometime accessing google.com is a problem This post has been edited by jay: Jul 19 2011, 12:00 AM |

QUOTE(exquisite_markas @ Jul 20 2011, 12:44 AM) another good question from a new student.. this rule is set because previously, got new intake drive to uni then accident and caused death, i think it was last 2 year ago, student coming back to perlis in midnite drive too fast and bang thru the roundabout and hit some tiang around putra palace there well, no specific reasons were given.. but i guess d authorities want d first year students to get familiar wif d roads in perlis b4 bringing their own transports in.. any other reason dat u can think of..? QUOTE(bb100 @ Jul 20 2011, 12:30 PM) Although it is a great idea, students are not advised to use online banking via the hostel's LAN connection. You would not know who is tapping your connection, which might result in valuable information being stolen by hackers. UniMAP got hacker??? no wonder the internet so slow there There are plenty of "invisible" hackers around. So it is better to be safe than sorry. |
