my recent project is auto rotating car-park using colour identification system.
That sounds eye-popping shocking.gif Can you briefly describe how your auto rotating car-park works? Better still, show us a drawing.

Meanwhile, does the School of Mechatronic Engineering UniMAP undertake meaningful research project like Intelligent Parking Assist System (IPAS)? This system assists vehicle steering while parallel parking and parking in a garage. It enables the driver to park the car without operating the steering, only requiring visually checking the surroundings to help ensure safety, and adjusting the vehicle speed by operation of the brake pedal.

Omai.. that post was ages ago.. =.=
haha.. my mini project was not really very impressive. it's the idea of a space saving solution to car parking. Multiple vertical tiers, that uses color card barcodes to identify who are the owners, then the system automatically rolls the car to designated parking spots.

Intelligent parking system? haven't come across this though.. lol... but my school is currently active in developing a nurse assistance robot... which basically means, a moving platform that is able to follow a designated hospital nurse, carrying all the related equipment and maybe even a table top just for some medicine bottles. haha.... but it needs a host of research to realize..

not least
1- Localization
2- Mapping
3- Identification of individuals
4- Adaptivity to dynamic environments
5--- God knws what more...

Trying to build a bot, in a controled environment is hard.. lol. now try that in an uncontrolled environment.... it will push AI to the limits I'd say...

So far the only robots that I knw are able to navigate DYNAMICALLY, are those DARPA race car-bots... lol... each one packs a bank of PCs at the back.... LIDAR on top, multiple cameras and etc.... Heck it even needs a liquid cooling system for the PCs!!!!!!!!!! IMAGINE THE COST!!!!!

AND STILL!!!!!! their success rate is not very high. haha... Once they get into situations NOT coded into them.. haha... well... just you knw. =)

You're too humble. The award-winning novel idea of my Parking Guidance System is now being installed in some mega shopping malls (i.e. The Mines, Sunway Pyramid, etc.).

I believe the UniMAP RObotic Nurse Assistant (RONA) can do much more that in many meaningful way, otherwise it is no different from pushing a Medical Cart. Just like RIBA the Robot Nurse, developed by the Human-Interactive Robot Research program — a joint collaboration project by Japan’s RIKEN and Tokai Rubber Industries, Ltd (TRI) — is a prototype nursing-care assistant robot.

RIBA (Robot for Interactive Body Assistance) is the first robot that can autonomously lift up or set down a real human from or to a bed or wheelchair. RIBA, the “soft” robot, does this by using its strong, humanlike arms and a novel tactile guidance system with high-accuracy tactile sensors. RIBA was developed by integrating RIKEN’s control, sensor, and information processing technologies and TRI’s materials and structural design technologies.

Actroid is a series of robots developed by Kokoro. These robots have a very human-like appearance and range of motions, yet they have only 12 degrees of freedom, mostly in the face. These human-like robots imitate the movements of the people they are watching, and are currently being placed as observers in hospitals, to see how patients feel in their presence.

HRP-4C Humanoid Robot now sings even more naturally

=)

In each their own glory.
Actually a 'moving tabletop'... Is a lot harder than it seems... Lol..

Those bots that you mentioned are best in their known environment..
Subject them to an unknown environment, and you'll see how fast things can turn bad.

This has always been the case for robotics till now. We as the creator needs to take into account all the
Myriad possibilities the system may encounter in it's predefined space.

I find the next break through of robotics... Would be n agent that could... Reason...

It will be the start of a new era of machine intelligence. But for it to work out, the journey towards it
Would have to be cleared.

Method for l localization, vision processing, dynamic planning, all would have to.come in place.

The old method of machine intelligence is basically to build a damn big library of knowledge, this method has been... Left out.it is too .. Complex n unmanageable.

Fulamak! This must be a top scorer. 3.89 man! Don't play play. Better than Mr N. Suck (a super scorer in my batch) and Mr Coughing King (another top scorer for Mech Engg).

Keep it going!
