my work experience... when asked, "whats your budget?"

customer's thinking: woah... once talk then money money money... like i print money...

service provider's thinking: i am trying to set a scope on what i can offer you...

there is no point recommending you a Focal Utopia BE No.7 then come down to K2P then come down agian to Access... and in the end... what you wanted was just a DLS basic series... those time are better used to cut a mid baffle, or wirings or dismantling your door panels...

I read 2x but don't understand what u r trying to say... rclxub.gif

Anyway speaking generally, for sellers out there (not aiming at anyone), don't treat yr customers like idiots. There are some, like me, who have done their homework. I know how much Dynaudio vs Focal vs Polk Audio etc costs and I know 2-3K is enough to get the job done. In this instance, I just wanna know if the installer have my interest at heart and is willing to help me along on the path to achieving my aim. He shouldn't be looking at my wallet.

I could be walking into your shop today with a small wallet and a BLM. But would u know that I also have an Estima sitting at home that I might bring in based on your 1st service performance? Or that my friend drives a Ferrari?

what he's trying to say is when the seller asks for your budget, he's just trying to think what kind of system will suit your budget and no point he starts introducing you the top-of-the-line products and then slowly going lower and lower through discussion but the thing you actually want is an entry-level setup. The time taken to discuss is much better spent on more important things.

im sure you have your points and being a consumer myself i dont disagree. however howie (or anyone whos siding with him) has their points as well and while he may not have handled the situation perfectly, im sure everyone has their misses now and then. I am fairly certain that howie is not someone who aims at people's wallet when during business. HELL, im not even his customer if you didnt knew wink.gif
unless you count buying a scorche car phone holder (worth around ~RM100) from him because im too god damn lazy to find it myself at mid valley or something his customer, then yea i guess i am a customer too.

at the end of the day its just a simple misunderstanding and lets just end it that way (and i am pointing this towards the other side of the fence as well as you guys are only making this worse tongue.gif), REGARDLESS if you goto his shop or not, or if you buy from howie or not.

1st off... the mass understands what i am writing... my english is not that bad...
2nd off... if you have done your homework... then why you dont know the price for utopia, k2p and access and then dls basic? and of course... if you need installations... you need to do wirings, dismantling door panels and etc...

This is why I dislike 'chatting' in forums.

If you have a complaint - voice it out, thats fine. But expect a response trying to justify or clarify why your complaint is or not valid.

Case closed. There's no need to start arguments about who's got bigger balls because it'll do no one any good especially in forums. If you want to compare genitilia sizes do it in person and after that close the case, not have constant bickering in forums because it's irritating for others to read.

To Lowyatsuperman : Howie has explained that he missed your PM. I've seen how many he has to entertain daily and he has already said he missed it. It is now up to you to believe it or not and case closed. Since you obviously do not appreciate his service (or lack of) then it is then now up to you to go elsewhere where you are happier. No point in arguing and causing unecessary grief to everyone here.

To Howie : Where is the value in debating things here? It will eventually lead to pointless arguing like the other joker that was here earlier who was condemning all sellers and praising his CAT5 RCAs. Drop it and next time don't miss PMs because it obviously will make people jump to unecessary conclusions.

To all the others : Drop the topic la. Damn irritating to keep having to read arguments between two different factions all showing their guns but never actually firing them.

And lastly - RM2k to buy speakers limits you to only 2nd hand high end components or brand new mid-range speakers. You cannot buy Dynoaudio's with only RM2k and PolkAudio's top of the range costs way more than that. Search in some local ICE forums like icehifi.com and you might notice that there are 2nd hand Scanspeaks for sale that's almost in that price range. Otherwise go visit a shop and if you like their service buy from them. If you don't, go to another shop and ask again. Everyone has a different experience with different shops so asking online who's good and who's not is pointless.

izso and Quazacolt, thanks for playing peace-maker. izso, your advice on spks is what I already know, but thanks anyway.

To all others, howie and I have more or less stopped. Both of us made our points and I am giving him the benefit of the doubt when he said he missed my PM (although I sent 2x) but nvm lah. Drop it.

No need for anymore heroes to come in and chip in their last 2 sen. Move on to other topics okay? TQ. smile.gif

Dyns 242GT available brand new for rm1.5k or so.

My opinion, for 2k should go for used Vifa XT25 and PL 14/17 used WITH custom passives.
If you can stretch to 3k, Scans Discovery with custom passives.

When you free, we can blind test 1 low end branded amp (or anyone wanna volunteer a TRUtech, Genesis, Audison or something) vs MCC431 on the same setup. Loser buy teh tarik.
(Howie, you can help pasang and unpasang ah?)

Ok, now can close case.

i've always doubted acc shops/reg. workshops when they kept saying cannot be fix, and need to change whole bumper.

i kept explaining to them that i am not looking for perfection, just a temporary, or rather a quick patch up, something that simply works - keeping my front bumper firm instead of just dangling there held up by mere wires (another quick patch by the parking lot uncle, he did it for free, i am not complaining about his work, as its either that, or a new bumper smile.gif )

and when i brought it up to howie, he simply drilled 2 holes and screwed my bumper back to the car body. JUST THAT SIMPLE. (though i guess that verifies the rumors going on that he has certain fondness into drilling holes/cutting up peoples' cars rolleyes.gif )

at the end of the day i think its just a matter of wanting to do the job or not. howie did it for me and that made me a happy man.

and best of all, that isnt even the main problem i went to look for him. my car's horn went dead, and need a replacement. even more awesome is that hes open on sundays. and i do have a busy schedule so thats a big plus too.

all in all, thumbs up to howie thumbup.gif

ps: mywifecar is joining another EMMA brows.gif
should've leave some scratches when i was there rolleyes.gif
