I didn't do much in singapore. sweat.gif
1 day trip w/o sleep very tiring..
well at least could produce decent quality picture. IMO

I do realize there is a ghost there, but IDK the ghost make it nicer IMO.

I didn't sleep at all, waiting for down to break. Playing with a bottle of milk in Singapore street, Jalan sultan to be exact.

Overall I am happy w/ the quality of my new 35mm 1.8 lens. My very first prime lens rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

In my opinion
(+)
it is nice as if when you sit in the table together w/ your friend you can still snap them w/o move out from the table tongue.gif Lazy body! what to do..
a very good value of money I would say. especially mine was Rm 600 tongue.gif

(-)
Yes, KTCY is correct again. not a very sharp lens therefore I sometimes go for f.2.5/2.8 to get the sharpness. but still.. Hmmm...
when I was in universal studio the model guards are often told me "Please not to stand very near to the model" yeahh.. it's 35mm what to do. sweat.gif sweat.gif
I will post some picture when I was in universal studio. later. smile.gif
anyway C&C highly appreciated.

hey guys, any feedback about babylens? IDK I found it fascinating.

QUOTE(scotty @ Jan 2 2011, 05:49 PM)
what is n lenses?
*
N stand for Nano coating.
the lastest technology of Nikkor lenses.
they made 1 extra coating called nano coating (of course the name tell us how small and thin the coating is yet it's so expensive, because nano technology the latest technology in the world CMIIW people still doing research about it to bring up the whole France's electricity use only nano technology) <- CMIIW I am just an IT student, I read it from media source sweat.gif

the purpose of N coating is to protect lens from ghost.
therefore you wouldn't have ghost like what I had in this picture

user posted image
if you see it clearly you would be able to see 'greenish' color ghost in my picture.

N lenses will prevent that.
whether it works fine or not? I am not sure. I haven't own a single of them. sweat.gif
you can ask other nikon gear-ful sifu for that.. hahaha

QUOTE(eddy230379 @ Jan 2 2011, 05:50 PM)
dont think i can afford any of those FX thingy in the near future also ... hahaha ...

gold ring plus the 'N' is going to make me bankrupt for sure if i go FX ...
*
Hahaha.. sure thing. exactly the same condition apply for me.

hahaha.. yeah d7000 would be nice.
but no money for the time being and I very poisoned with strobist thingy. it's awesome. for me. tongue.gif

anyway I tested out 85mm 1.4 on my d3100 body,
I have feeling it's a lil too big. like holding massive rambo gun. IDK what will happen if I hold 70200
it has nice built in quality but I do feel it's a little too 'tele' for DX sensor. IMO

the only reason we don't find it suit is because we still use DX model. sweat.gif

QUOTE(BenSow @ Jan 2 2011, 07:39 PM)
What is function of RAW photos? o.o
*
It saves your photo's metadata,
metadata is all information regarding your photo e.g vocal lenght, iso, aperture, etc etc..
therefore when you want to edit it is easier and manageable, because without having the actual metadata editing software e.g photoshop will measure by itself, which actually not correct due lacking of information in the JPEG itself.

by saving ion JPEG you actually ask your camera to compress your picture, and JPEG is a lossy compression.
further reading here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lossy_compression

RAW is still a compression method but they are depends on camera body (some is lossless data compression some also lossy data compression) but again as I told, it hold the photo metadata unlike JPEG, this makes it nicer when you want to edit the photo.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lossless_data_compression

again. I am not 100% sure. but at least this is what I know. I learn from my college.

Added on January 2, 2011, 7:53 pmoh and how do you guys clean your LCD monitor? I have no screen protector...
*
PP stands for - Post Processing
the concept is as easy as whatever processed *again* after the process of taking photo is considered PP.

Photoshop, Lightroom, ViewNX2, even building adjustment on your camera consider post processing tools

35mm and 50mm is different lens, totally.
*
yeah.. that's true.
yesterday, I did PP and almost increase the sharpness of every picture I taken with 35mm 1.8.
not really satisfy with the sharpness yet very happy with the bokeh it delivered.

is 50 on DX only good at taking picture? I mean if you want to include a little background w/o move back too much is that possible? hmm.gif
kind of confuse about the focal range.

50mm does it mean the focus is 50 millimeter from the object? where as 35mm means the focus is 35 millimeter from the object?
it's kinda confusing for me because sometimes, for 35mm I can shoot a very near/very far object and both have the focus. rclxub.gif

need some advice on here. sifu KTCY

50mm f/1.4 can be used when you up to FF in future and its 1.4 compared to 1.8.

From my experience, I compared the Sandisk Extreme III 30MB/s (rated class 10) and Silicon Power class 6 before. It actually affects how many images I can burst in RAW and also when you browse your photo the speed is different.
*
how about the distance bro cy??
is it really different? sometimes when I snap using 35mm, I heard people yelling at me and told me not to be very near with the model (yeah amateur photographer shouldn't be that near to the model, wait till I become pro all the model want to stay near to me brows.gif brows.gif brows.gif )

ohh, if let's say I didn't do burst mode that much I should reconsider upgrade my mem.card?

Group shooting? Haha, 35mm need to so close with the model for a half body shot. Sure kena yell at la. You're blocking others. 50mm is more tele then 35mm for sure. I didn't use 50mm much, but 70mm a lot on DX back then.

Well, if you need the extra space you can consider upgrading. Else can just use that for the time being.
*
Not group shooting. it's universal studio's model. kind of panda in kung fu panda and etc. my bad being stubborn to use my 35mm.
70mm? well. I will consider that.
Thanks for the advice again. you are really helpful thumbup.gif

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Jan 3 2011, 11:43 AM)
On DX, focal range X 1.5
35mm become 52.5mm
50mm become 75mm (telephoto)

50mm on DX good for portrait shot, but you need to stand quite far. If you sit on table and wanna take your friends, you'll wish you have wider lens. When you're in tight space, you'll feel it, even 35mm on DX can be tight in many situation, I wish I have a real 35mm range.
When taking group photo, you need move quite back, with 50mm, LoL, I think you'll be standing quite far away and taking some time to find the right spot.

My friend bought the 50mm f1.4D, went for his friend wedding dinner, then calls me asking me to bring over my 35mm...

If you focus correctly, correct exposure with proper ISO, the sharpness is good. If you off focus even just a little, the image can get .soft.
*
that is the tough part. I guess I need to learn more w/ my 35mm tongue.gif
thanks! thumbup.gif
