Because 50mm f/1.8D is the cheapest prime lens available. It is going for RM380 new, the cheapest lens that gives bokeh LOL.

35mm f/1.8G on the other hand is pricier.
*
ahhh.. I get it.
so it's only price matter? do you feel it is hard to do a good composition using 35mm?
sorry because I am going to get 35mm but still doubt it will satisfy me. rclxub.gif

Because mild telephotos with large apertures are useful for portraiture when you're too lazy to take care of your background in a more artistic way.

Yeah, bokeh is short cut! You have less to worry for the background tongue.gif.

QUOTE(celciuz @ Dec 30 2010, 11:40 AM)
I think you tend to come up with better composition on primes mainly because of limitations. You will try something out of your norm when you're restricted to space/distance etc.

Hopefully I will experience the same thing. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

class 4 is normal just OK.
Good for photo shotting. HD video? hmm.gif hmm.gif
I think you shouldn't push it to full HD.
usually you will given class 4 SD unless you inquiry (of course you have to pay extra) .

BTW, I got confused by a friend of mine. Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 is a DX lens, right? So, when a DX lens is attached to a DX body, is the crop factor still applicable? For example, the range of 35mm f/1.8 on D90 is actually 35mm x1.5 or just 35mm?

I was told crop factor still applicable even on a DX body.
*
Yes the crop factor still applicable.
the difference is when it got attached to FX body.
the FX body won't be able to use full sensor instead crop sensor, therefore some vignetting applied CMIIW

^ I actually misread. LOL sorry about that.

Anyway I have no idea on customizable Colour balance. While I do thought that White balance does effect the colour balance of a picture.

Anyway for D3, other than the preset of white balance, you can choose to program your own white balance, so that's how you set one on a D3, use a piece of white paper.
*
anyone has idea about customizable color balance??
noo.. it's not white balance.. anyway thanks for replying sweat.gif sweat.gif

ok...bokeh, usually i'm using manual focus on plant.. brows.gif
actually, for portrait, is it suitable to use manual focus? icon_question.gif

and sifu sifu..
how to adjust camera's flash?
my photo just looks weird, got the shadow..  icon_question.gif

yeah.. F8 will give you the sharpest one. more than that give you distortion (depends on the lens.)
Good luck on your shooting.

bounce it to ceiling. the shadow will looks cool.
else my friend usually put the flash behind the object and use commander mode.
it makes the subject seems like highlighted.

Above f/8 does not give you distortion, it is diffraction.
*
ahh.. yeah diffraction. I don't really get between those two.

Higher aperture (e.g F 1.4)
will give you more focus hence more bokeh, due to many light come in to the sensor
however
Lower aperture (e.g f 8)
less light comes to the sensor. it will give you less bokeh and sharper image, because the defocusing due too many light doesn't occur.

this must sound crazy to some of u guys. help me decide between a d7000 and a d700.
*
d7000 has the best video in current nikon line up.
d700 doesn't have video.
d700 FX sensor (has wider sensor compared to DX)
d7000 DX sensor (1.5x croped) means all the vocal range of the lens will be times 1.5x and less wider e.g. 1855 will be 27-82.5
