23cents is good buy, they have monopoly status on public transport Transit-TV and according to their prospectus, MCMC has given them licenses to broadcast like TV stations. maybe they can sell advertisements just like TV3 and RTM?

Benalec is going for RM1.00 par at RM0.25, PE12.5x... seems expensive to me. 12.5x based on 2010 results.
The 2010 PAT results is far too high compared to the trend of 2009, 2008. |

We will know the balloting results by Monday hopefully. All the best everyone. few more mainboard IPO coming up. I still look good at ACE, cheap and move up 10cents means 50% returns.
Mainboard need 70cents or RM1.00 / share... tendency to drop below IPO is much greater than ACE stocks |

I read many bad remarks here, that WTF alike expression that it will not even cross 30cts. My target OPENING (1st page) was 0.30, but it exceed my own target and open 0.4x. So, why not 50cts is possible in 1-2 days? |

in my opinion, this company is not that great....
what it rely on is monopoly, means the rights to set up lcd on buses... if buses company (UMNx boys) plan to go on with other company, then... ...and this company also highly filled with personal features, if the current boss leave the company, then it's gone case... same with MTONE... they are ought to be Malaysia's DELL during its listing... Now they purposely let the price be at the range of 0.275/0.280 to attract more ikan bilis... It might fall further, it might also fly & steal the limelight, but the ultimate goal is to let ikan bilis buy high sell low... So eventually price will fall....

Once the terms of the potential acquisition have been finalised, the Company will make the appropriate announcement to Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad in due course. The Company plans to invest up to RM30 million for the expansion in Singapore in the next two (2) years, which include the purchase consideration for a potential acquisition as mentioned above and the capital expenditures. In addition, the Company plans to invest at least RM20 million to roll out the digital broadcasting in the Klang Valley within a year and out of this amount, RM16 million will be from the proceeds raised from the initial public offering early this year. On the revenue growth, the Company expects to grow in tandem with the growth of the digital-out-of-home transit media industry in Malaysia. Asia Media Clarifies On Potential Acquisition In Singapore KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) -- Asia Media Group Berhad (AMEDIA) is exploring at present, the potential acquisition of a Singapore-based company, that has secured a broadcasting license. It expects to enter into a memorandum of understanding or an agreement in the next one to two months in respect of the potential acquisition. Buyers are always demanding for lower especially small flies like us as we can't afford to keep at higher price. Anyway for medium term holding, this should be a bargain buy as long as you have the holding power.

Asia Media are currently the only one operating the same concept of business in the region if i'm not mistaken, even as i visit to Hong Kong, there is no such thing in their MTR or buses, imagine if their business venture out, it will be more profitable in future. |

How much can one continue to average down?
In a bull run, some stocks could have a massive bear run! It's possible! Buying and holding it long term could be extremely painful!! Ok. Back to Amedia. You bought at 31 sen. Say you purhased 10,000 shares or rm 3100.00. ( For simplicity sake, I just don't count all the additional costs), The stock is now 23 sen. Do you buy another 10,000 shares? Assume you do. You now have 20,000 shares and your cost is 3100 + 2300 = 5400 and your cost per share is now 27 sen. The stock is now 23 sen and you are still deep under cost. Do you hold? Or if Amedia drops to 20 sen, would you buy more? Yes, you need to address this. Ask yourself, if Amedia drops, would you buy more? And also, how much more are you willing to buy? Of course, the share market is not mine and of course, it's possible that the Amedia does not drop to 20 sen. See? I am not a share market VoDoo-er and I have no idea how Amedia would trade in the future. But if I was in your shoes, I would address this issue. I need to ask myself, what if Amedia drops some more? Am I going to buy more? And how much longer can I repeat this? Now say, the worse does happen. Amedia drops to 20 sen and your new averaged down cost is 27 sen. And you decide to buy more. Another 10,000 shares at 20 sen. Your new cost = 3100 + 2300 + 2000 = 7400 and your cost of investment is 24.6 sen. And your 'paper' loss is 1400. (If you had not averaged down, the paper loss is 1100.00.) And what if the shares continue to drop to 17 sen? Not possible? Let's address the 'what if' scenario. You buy more. Another 10,000 shares at 17 sen. Your new cost = 3100 + 2300 + 2000 + 1700 = 9100. And your average cost per share is 22.7. At 17 sen, the potential paper loss using this average down strategy = 2.3k. (If one had not averaged down, the paper loss is 1400). Yeah, the losses magnified. (This is assuming Amedia continues to fall. And needless to say if Amedia recovers, one could even exit Amedia with a nice profit. ) Well, I hope you see my flawed way of thinking here. Warren Buffett used to say, when you find yourself in a hole, you should stop digging!!! See investment or trading or punting mistakes can always happen. No one is perfect. Mistakes could always happen. Knowing when one is wrong is said to be the key for one success. If a mistake was made in the stock market, averaging down or buying more, means only one thing. One is only buying more of their mistake. Is this a wise strategy? And averaging down cannot be repeated forever and ever. Why? There is a limit to one's financials! No one can continue to average down forever. Yes, there's a monetary limit on how much one can buy! Ok but what Amedia itself? Now if I minus out the current 'steep correction' and look at your 31 sen entry price. I would assume that you did not chase the stock and you bought the stock because Amedia hit a of 39 sen on a very impressive run and when the stock pulled back to 31 sen, perhaps there was a justification to take a punt on the stock. 'Buy on strong pullbacks' is a normal advice and many times it is known to work. But it's known to fail too. With such a drastic pullback from an intraday high of 39 sen, my concern would be what if pullback is much stronger. And of course, now, present day, looking back now, it's much easier. The pullback is much stronger and some would be greatly concern. The stock had broke up from the 27 sen region but it has retraced much, much lower. It had couple of minor bounce but the pullback is strong. Very much strong. What I be concern? What if this is a great pump and dump? Should I be asking this? Next thing I would ask is why did the stock had such a great run recently? Was it based on pure fundamentals or did this stock enjoyed a great run along with other ACE penny stocks? (this is one issue you have to address yourself) And that's all. Not much information. There's some small cash in its balance sheet and some small debts too. There's simply isn't enough financial data to determine the quality of the company. How? So Amedia installs and operates a transit TV network on buses. It plans to expand other public transport systems such as the monorail, LRT and KTM. Now if one is looking at it from an investing perspective, one should ask, what's really the potential? How is their current content? How about taking a Rapid KL bus and observe the TV network operated by Amedia. Does it have potential? How? Can this ACE stock be listed in the main board next year? I do not know but isn't it way too early to tell? And then, perhaps one should address the issue of buying a stock just because it could be 'promoted' to the main board. Is this a wise decision? Or is this an unwise decision? For me, whenever someone promotes such an idea (ie buy ABX cos ABX gonna be promoted to main board), I would usually check past data. Meaning to say, perhaps it's best to check out if this is a sure win strategy. Has there been proven success stories? And have there been some horror stories? Me? I tend to remember horror stories! LOL! Stocks like GHL and Dreamgate (RGB) comes to mind. They were promoted from Mesdaq (now called ACE) to the mainboard and they have not done well at all. So if you ask me, this is one huge assumption (buy a stock cos it will transfer to mainboard) for one to make. There's no guarantee a stock is worth a buy cos of such reasoning. So how? Could you determine if Amedia is an investment grade stock? Yes, apparently the company has great plans to expand as per their statements in the local media but there's no proven track record to support this claim. As it is, the company have one quarterly earnings report. That's all. There's no historical data. I understand that one should buy a stock based on its potential future prospects but one has to be realistic and one have to address if such plans can be achieved and the only one can do is to refer to some proven track record from the company. Or in layman's term, one needs to gauge if the company can deliver what it promises. Now this issue is important cos there had been far too many companies making such claims on their future prospect but somehow, they fail to deliver what they promise. How? Do you even like Amedia business prospects? |

But for me, averaging down or up is just your mind playing on your own only. First buy 0.30 Second buy 0.20 Some said you average cost is 0.25. some said sell at 0.25 then breakeven. To me, First buy and second buy are independent to each other. Sell at 0.25, means 0.20 make 0.05, and 0.30 make a loss of 0.05. So total breakeven. It is same you bought A stock at 0.30 at 0.30, then go to buy B stock at 0.20. Little difference, the difference is you are at 2 front of price movement instead of 1. If A and B stock also 0.25, you also breakeven. What important is your total fund/total portfolio is making money or not. My 2 cents. To add First buy 0.30 price plunge to 0.20. You only make a decision to buy because you ses price can move up from 0.20. This should be the sole reason why you want to buy at 0.20 Please do not buy just because you want to average down your cost to 0.25. It doesn't work this way. Amedia hit new low....I think this Ace market share will go sideway for sometime before it got any chance to go up if it ever go up. Ace market share always not on investors radar even with very good potential...my two cents.

at Tropicana Amedia presentation. pretty much the regular investor briefing by the company.. nothing extraordinary much of it already in the website. - Q1 report said to be pretty much as forecast to be released month end - Singapore nego said no big deal.. continue nego with another co anyway no impact on FY - questions on Digital broadcasting licence, 7 antenna planned, trail on one this month end as scheduled (my opinion is the digital broadcasting licence has more value) - lucky draw (damn didn't get again!) |

KUALA LUMPUR: MEDIA PRIMA BHD [] net profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2011 fell 23.7% to RM34.79 million from RM45.57 million a year earlier, in line with general seasonal advertising trends.
Revenue for the quarter rose to RM354.19 million from RM323.67 million in 2010. Earnings per share was 3.36 sen while net assets per share was RM1.27. Reviewing its performance, Media Prima said on Thursday, May 12 that the first quarter of the year had always been the lowest in terms of advertising spending as compared to other quarters, when most advertisers start their promotional roll out. It said revenue for the quarter grew led by advertisement revenue that recorded an increase of 13.5% as advertisement expenditure growth maintained its momentum into 2011. On its prospects, Media Prima said while it was optimistic about an improved outlook for both consumers and advertisers, it was also cognisant of the challenges ahead. “For the financial year 2011, the group is committed to maintaining its industry leadership position and its earnings through continued investment in quality and relevant content and branding for its targeted market. “Concurrently, the group will continue to exercise prudent financial and risk management and is optimising its cost management for better leverage on its operating efficiency,” it said. Media Prima said it would continue its efforts in realizing the value of its diverse media platforms by embarking on various initiatives involving the assimilation of its new investments in NSTP and Kurnia into the enlarged Media Prima group. “These efforts include improving the revenue generating capacity and improving operational efficiency to achieve synergy within the group’s stable of media assets. “As the same time, it will continue to invest, improve and monetise its new media platform as an alternative medium for consumers to access its contents,” it said.
