eye test... let yr eyes be the judge. 720p and 1080p on a 50in also diificult to distinguish. So just choose the one that looks best in your eyes. After all u are the one who is watching the tv.

QUOTE(vikashshah @ Dec 22 2010, 10:32 AM) A good article to share with fellow Forumers... TV specs to ignoreBy David Katzmaier, CNET.com Dec 21, 2010 Today's HDTV spec sheets are littered with confusing information, and much of it is worthless. Here we present the major offenders and recommend you simply ignore these specs when making your purchase decision. Manufacturers include most of this information in an attempt to convey improved picture quality by citing ever-higher numbers; however, in reality those numbers provide little indication of how good the image looks in the real world. ............................................. Source: http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/home_av/tvs/0...62205280,00.htmHi bro, you beat me to it. I was preparing my latest post in my HDTV Blog when I saw your thread but it is good to share. It is partly based on cnet plus other sources from the net to make it clearer. Anyway, it is for beginners only and not for all the sifus out here.

Added on December 23, 2010, 2:57 pmQUOTE(Fred @ Dec 23 2010, 02:21 PM) hi ronald, i wonder what tv model you have at home? Wah, want to test if I practise what I preach? Just kidding. Actually I have the Samsung 40" LA40B530 LCD (old model) in the hall, bought by my daughter for the family and the Toshiba 32AV700 32" LCD in my study room for personal use. Don't know how my daughter chose the Samsung, probably because of the size and the price and Samsung is a pretty popular brand. As for the choice of Toshiba, it was quite easy. I wanted a 32" because of the space constraint so that ruled out the Plasma. Because of the size and I am not using it for my PC, I picked a HD Ready and not a Full HD since it is good enough for watching movies and I did not want to spend more for a Full HD model. The Toshiba has 4 HDMI inputs while most of the rest have only 2 or 3 (at that time when I bought the Toshiba) since I needed to connect my DVD, Media Player and Camcorder and still got one spare HDMI. (At that time I did not have a HDMI AVR so the number of HDMI input was important.) I prefer the colours on the Toshiba which is more neutral and natural when compared to the Samsung and others. I was not concerned about the other specs since I reckon all the LCD TV are lebih kurang the same at this entry level so I ended up with the Toshiba. So far I am quite happy with my choice.
