Can you list out 3 typical suspension setups including LSD for FF, 4WD & MR cars? It'd be much easier to tune if i have an idea of standard settings. I'm confused with the description of the LSD settings. I though higher LSD less understeer?
I know more downforce means more grip but less top speed, but normally what's the typical value to put? Do you put same amount on both front & back? QUOTE(alpha0201 @ Jan 7 2011, 11:32 AM) |

I'm confused with the description of the LSD settings. I though higher LSD less understeer? Car setup is very subjective for each & every type of drive terrain. For example, you can't use the same setup of a Gallardo with R8 V10 because Gallardo has the tendency of oversteering even though both are MR 4wd. What I did is the Anti rollbar, I stiffen up the front & stiffen down the rear. I normally use this on high speed track Like Monza & High Speed Ring.I know more downforce means more grip but less top speed, but normally what's the typical value to put? Do you put same amount on both front & back? The type of track also need to be considered in suspension tuning. If its flat track like fuji, nurburgring (the shortest one) I just stiffen the suspension & lowered the car. Dampers too hard you'll be having trouble entering the corner. Camber also plays the part on how effectively can you corner. For bumpy track like Nurburgring (full long track), I advice against lowering & stiffening the car too much as when the bumpy part of the course right before entering the corner, the tyre has less contact on the surface & you'll just hop straight to the wall or sand. For the LSD, I'm still figuring that one out. |

Yes but still a standard setup would be easier to tune, since beginners like me don't really know what setting is considered hard, soft, too high or too low, having a typical setup makes it easier since i can just hover the settings around those numbers.
For the antiroll bar, if the car is oversteering and you up the front, lower the rear, doesn't it mean the rear will roll further resulting further oversteer as rear break loose? FF i dont know since i dont like FF car I know more downforce means more grip but less top speed, but normally what's the typical value to put? Do you put same amount on both front & back? FR put more grip at rear if your car oversteer too much, can try softer rear and harder front to overcome oversteer, the opposite for understeer MR, harder front, softer rear, i still dont know how to tune and drive MR properly, need very good throttle control i guess 4WD, normally go for oversteer setup for most of the car out there. if you are driving evo X in game, just put stiff rear soft front, AYC set to full bar, dont install LSD, you will be impress how that car perform LSD make your car understeer but more stable under certain situation, like when braking and enter corner if your initial torque is high enough then your car will recover from skid faster, but also understeer will occur if initial torque set too high QUOTE(advocado @ Jan 7 2011, 07:32 PM) Yes but still a standard setup would be easier to tune, since beginners like me don't really know what setting is considered hard, soft, too high or too low, having a typical setup makes it easier since i can just hover the settings around those numbers. stiffness of anti roll bar need to match with the spring rate, normally set opposite with the stiffness of the spring rate, this is what i read from the APEX book la For the antiroll bar, if the car is oversteering and you up the front, lower the rear, doesn't it mean the rear will roll further resulting further oversteer as rear break loose? if you lower spring rate for the sake of smoother ride over rough terrain, then you need to increase the stiffness of anti roll bar to counter the body roll during cornering. Kinda love comfort soft tyres and sport hard tyres, racing soft - too much grip... no fun. This post has been edited by amduser: Jan 7 2011, 08:01 PM |
