Check your audio daemon, if you're using pulseaudio you can install pulseaudio-equalizer. ALSA have the same thing too if I'm not mistaken.

Just make one partition, like 60GB(recommended), and the install script will do the rest.

mine one are like this

/ - 10GB, or more, depending on you if you wanted to install more stuff later on
/swap - same size like your physical ram, or around that
/home - up to you, your "personal" storage area

and other /tmp, etc..but not really necessary much, unless you got much disk space to spare laugh.gif

I thought the install script will do everything?

so,i just make home right???coz i think i cant get fully permission to open some files n move pic to background files in filesystem.... sad.gif

yes,i know must login as root...but just wanna move some picture to use as login background...
*
No no no, 1 partition, and the script will do the other partition itself based on the partition size, inside of that partition.

I think it's best to do automatic partitioning.

When something isn't enough and errors keep coming, you blame the distro.

If you think your 2GB is enough, think again.
QUOTE(Nick Piggin)
Well it is a magical property of swap space, because extra RAM doesn't allow you to replace unused memory with often used memory. The theory holds true no matter how much RAM you have. Swap can improve performance. It can be trivially demonstrated.

QUOTE(Rik van Riel)
the speed of hard disks doesn't grow anywhere near as fast as the size of memory and applications. This means that over the last years, swapping in any particular application has gotten SLOWER than it used to be ... This means that even though the VM is way smarter than it used to be, the visibility of any wrong decision has increased.

ok,thx 4 ur info... rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

so,how much i've spend to use as swap partiton??
*
Usually you need to double the number of your RAM, i.e., 2GB RAM = 4GB Swap. If I'm not mistaken though.

You have to make the partition beforehand and choose it in the installer.

Yeah , ive installed KDE in my Ubuntu before , my Gnome bcome KDE like , n it was --- YUCK = =

KDE is kinda abit *bling bling* type and some say its hard to use , might wanna get used to it shocking.gif
*
Huh? I don't think installing KDE will make your GNOME became like KDE. I've tried myself and the GNOME stays the same. And I think customizing in KDE is way easier, because that's the main reason why they made KDE, to make it simple, easy and very customizable.

Sharing is caring time   laugh.gif

Ive discover a way to change the login background , icons on the login background and theme of the login background for Maverick . (Coz gdm2setup is not compatible anymore with Maverick)

Snapshot : (Taken with Cybershot instead , cant print-screen  sweat.gif)

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Customized it with a Faenza Variants Cupertino icon + elementary Theme and even Compiz's wobbly windows

Ive even changed the font setting (making it smaller) and changed the cursors to black instead of default white

Background can be changed using this method too  nod.gif

All you need to do is juz type this command @ Terminal :

CODE
sudo cp /usr/share/applications/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow

Then logout and tweak from there

Then login again and type :

CODE
sudo rm /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop

This will prevent the Appearance app from starting off everytime you login into your Ubuntu  nod.gif

*Dun forget to copy your background to this folder if u wanna change the login background
CODE
~/usr/share/backgrounds

Tested on Ubuntu Maverick 10.10

Might work on any os which is based on Ubuntu 10.10  nod.gif  Test @ ur own risk  laugh.gif

Lol may I ask you something? Did you discover this on your own or you read an article or post about this somewhere. It's better if you give us the link to the source page if you read it from an article or something like that. biggrin.gif

I think you mean the Nvidia proprietery driver. I too am using the Nvidia's proprietery driver but mine is an automated kernel mod from RPMFusion, so that I don't need to re-install the driver everytime the kernel is updated.

Basically, the proprietery driver is better than nouveau as nouveau doesn't fully support the cards architecture. Nvidia knows what they are doing since it's their cards, but the proprietery driver is unecessary if all you want to do is surfing the internet, etc. If you want to play demanding games, their proprietery driver is heavily recommended.
