lol sooner or later ur desktop would be sluggish with all those gnome, kde, xfce libs cramped together

can anyone tell me what that user & group management tool in ubuntu is? mistakenly deleted it from synaptic and now wanna install it back but dunno its name in synaptic

i'm on debian xfce right now.. i installed lmde (default is gnome) then stripped it, deleted all gnome related stuff including gnome core, libs, nautilus, gdm etc then installed xfce.. maybe it depends on those that i deleted so its deleted automatically
but isn't there any other user & group management tool that doesn't require all that gnome related stuff?

already installed, but too scared to use terminal tools like that. prefer gui. not fancy mancy gui, maybe just a simple gui to make my day easier.
btw i think that user & group management thingy in gome is in gnome-system-tools package. try to install it but it tried to pull a bucketload of gnome crap like alacarte and brasero

already solved by reading adduser guides, its not that hard thanks for the tips tho, didn't know can use command like that to install without pulling recommended package

well said seriously, sometimes outdated package can caused even more headache compared to bleeding edge package

gnome3 and gnome shell just appear in debian experimental repo

too bad i've already moved to xfce. if not, sure i'll image my partition and install this beauty

so hows ur system now??

try to reconfigure xorg

other methods is to exit from xserver (ctrl+alt+F1), purge xserver-xorg than reinstall it back

no need to reformat lah.. if the culprit here is the new xserver-xorg after the last updates, can try install later version from experimental like G-17 said or maybe can just revert back to the old version before the updates

well, frickelplatz.de got chromium 11 by now

just add this to ur sources.list

get its keyring

and u should see chromium 11 in ur synaptic

if its me, surely i'll choose "normal"

can anyone help me here, my xfce menu.xml is corrupt, cannot even open it. so if any good souls here would paste his menu.xml file here for my reference i would be thankful. i wanna create another menu file. i think its location is /etc/xdg/xfce4/desktop/menu.xml or ~/.config/xfce4/desktop/menu.xml

my old acer aspire 2920 is dead
now using hp netbook with preloaded win7 basic. its snail crawling rite now
cant even run firefox, will make this lappy completely hang i'm installing kmeleon browser just to surf. rite now downloading debian xfce iso. this crappy win7 will be history in a hour or two

i think u misunderstood me, the one that is dead is my old one, not this one that i'm curently using
btw this one that i'm using is a netbook.. hp 210-1000 that came free with streamyx unipack. the preloaded win7 is struggling with its 1gb ram and intel atom 1.66ghz. theres no way i will *cough*upgrade*cough* to win7 pro. besides, if i really wanna upgrade window$, i wouldn't be here in this linux forum in the first place
"repair" that i can think of now is erase this crappy win7 and install debian (or maybe just dualboot incase my lil' bro wanna play game of something)

i think acetone iso is better. much like nero. but i'm just using right-click extension in thunar to mount iso. simple and no hassle

hi guys.. long time no see
just got my new lappy today after the old one died 5month ago
this one comes with preinstalled win 7 premium, sucks big time. it eats almost 75% of my 2gb ram all the time when the thing in background is just ff. lol
downloading lmde now, hope it likes my lappy ati card

huh since when u become debian user thought u were buntu fans

so its true then, unity sure make buntu looks stupid and drawn people away from it

done tinkering with fedora core 15, got dependency hell when enabling rawhide repo
looks like i need to revert to debian back, rpm based distro not my taste after all
