i know we have played with 3 strikers/foward before (rooney, berbatov & hernandez) but i cant remember when or what game it was. or have we not tried it yet ? not complaining with our current formation/tactics but i would really like to see the 3 of them play together and know what the outcome is. yeah, 4-3-3.

i myself dont feel comfortable with 4-3-3 in general no matter what team we play againts. ive always preffered the old school formation, 4-2-2.

is 4-3-3 not suitable for us ? what formations have we been playing since the season started ? 4-5-1, 4-4-2 ? again, i think we've played 4-4-3 this season. having some trouble remembering.
*
Most times, in CL and in the big games, it'll be a 433(451)/4231. Other games, its usually 442. That's the way its going to be for the foreseeable future unless we somehow manage to own every team playing 442.. but that won't happen, even for a team as good as Barca(if they use 442 regularly).

yeah, thought i was having some memory problem. ferguson should stop playing rooney as a winger. even if it meant as a sacrifice. just stick him foward and go with it. look at last season, he did so well as a foward.
since berbatov is getting the goals this season, maybe things have changed a bit up there.

i dont know, were in the mid season, so just thought of trying 4-3-3 for a change. even if we did played 4-3-3 this season, would love to know how it all works out, again.
*
When we go with playing with the one striker route supported by two wide forwards/wingers, it will always be Rooney in the middle, unless we somehow 3 out of Valencia, Giggs, Nani and Park is out injured. Rooney will only be used out wide in case of emergency. Most times, he will play through the middle.

i thought we don't have strong midfielder to play 4-3-3

QUOTE(Calvin871989 @ Jan 5 2011, 09:16 PM)
ah i see, wan. thanks. would still like to know how it all works out. no worries, it'll be soon till i see 3 fowards playing up, hopefully
thats the thing, a bit risky when having 3 midfielders. im not saying we dont have any good midfielders but even if we did had good midfielders, it'll still be risky unless the midfielders are always controling/keeping the ball and winning back positions. really not an easy job.
*
We do have the midfielders for it. It's proven to be effective for us these last 4-5 years in the big games and CL. Carrick as the holding midfielder, Fletcher as the worker, and Ando/Giggs as the AM that brings a bit of class to unlock defenses. Only problem is that Ando is better suited to play as a CM rather than an AM to me right now.

Is this the end for Evans!!!???
*
Rio the defender we paid 30m was known for his mistakes and forgetfulness in his time at West Ham. He likes to switch off they say. Young players will make mistakes and go through a period of time where they are in bad form. It happens. Heck even older players go through phase where they don't perform. Carrick, Giggs, Scholes.. VDS. Rafael, Smalling, Ronaldo, Rooney, Fletcher, Nani, Ando.. every single one of them make mistakes. And in the case of the latter 3, we should know better in how a youngster progresses. Its not always plain sailing, and CR went 3 seasons before he turns the on mode constantly.

I saja troll only tongue.gif

Given SAF patience with young players, he always give them chance to redeem themselves and its up to the player whether they wanted to give themselves a second chance or not. Evans no doubt is a great defender, he proved in few seasons ago that he is able to step in the shoes of either Rio or Vidic. Just that this season he is plagued with bad form and few costly mistakes therefore SAF giving him a lesson, tough up or you're out. I would really love to see Evans and Smalling partnership in the future but now, Evans need to step up when he is needed in order to win back his spot in the team.
*
Quite a few players with this off form syndrome. Fletcher this season so far haven't been good. Carrick last season. Nani and Ando until recently. Vidic had that spell when he was dodgy..

QUOTE(SGSuser @ Jan 6 2011, 10:06 PM)
it doesnt sound impossible, if SAF really wants to keep owen he should have been offered a new contract edi...wes brown, as much as i like him, is far down the pecking order, and there were claims of him falling out with gaffer too..but i still think wes will stay
*
Giggs, Scholes, VDS, Gary.. we waited until near the end of their contracts before renewing these days right?

With Hernandez showing his fangs, and Welbeck impressing out on loan and maybe soon Macheda as well, we might not renew his contract. But it would be great for their developments if those two can go out on loan again for the rest of next season and we keep Owen. They will come back ready to challenge for a first team place after that.

It all depends on how things will pan out regarding the age issue and to fit all of them into the 25 squad list. The list is very restrictive IMO. It means each season players will come and go which I don't like. Players between 21-24 who still haven't make it.. we might have to loan them out if we can't fit them into the squad.

Depends on the squad list. If we can squeeze them in, Owen and Brown will stay. But with the performance Welbeck have shown for Sunderland this season, that might just be the end for Owen.

Scholes, Giggs, Gary, VDS, Brown, Owen, Rio
The beauty with the squad right now is even if those old guys leave, we have replacements for them already at the club, although in the case of VDS it's still unproven.

Gary-gone sadly
Giggs, Scholes, VDS can last another season at least.
Brown, Owen-depends on their happiness.. very good squad players
Rio-plenty more left in the tank.

I have a feeling that Welbeck will move permanently to Sunderland. We have Rooney,  Berbatov, Macheda and Chicarito smile.gif

Pique vs Evans
Macheda vs Welbeck

British will always be given priority. And seeing that Welbeck is a pretty good footballer as well, he will be given plenty of chances to further his career with us.

QUOTE(nshady @ Jan 6 2011, 10:41 PM)
Oh actually I read somewhere that Steve Bruce is trying to land Danny Welbeck. And he's getting chances to play at Sunderland.

Forgotten about Diouf, no idea about him.
*
Steve Bruce: “He’s a fantastic talent and he’s benefited from playing regularly. He’s got an infectious enthusiasm about him, he wants to play and train,” said Bruce. “He’s been terrific for us, Manchester United have got a very good player on their hands. “I always knew that [keeping Welbeck] was going to be a problem, deep down."

Welbeck was on the same level as Macheda, if not better. Right now he's gotten farther ahead unless Macheda impresses as well at Sampdoria.

He could one day replace Berba. Same kinda player that link stuff up all over the field. Can partner anyone and striker up a partnership.

Well, he's still new. It will come.

Added on January 7, 2011, 2:14 amCrap. Cleverley out injured for 3-4 weeks. Hamstring injury. Welbeck got the same sort of injury as well. Not sure how long he's gonna be out tho.

Looks like SAF won't recall Cleverley back this month. With Tony reportedly making good progress, I think that's it.

Nani's twin brother is still 8-9 weeks away I think. They're talking end of February about his return.

well well, why i am not surprised, might as well give way for someone in the 25 who can play
*
Good news is that it's only his hamstring. No mention of his knees which is good news.

Added on January 7, 2011, 7:49 pmThe guy on the high horse again. Not surprising from him. We mancs talk about them all the time apparently. But they haven't even mention us at all in their lifetime. And they don't feel 'happy' whenever we lose or in a bit of trouble? What a bunch of hypocrites.

Since they are in so much trouble, being one of our hated rivals, it's only natural for us to talk about it, and get enjoyment in that. Since there's not much going on right now, what else is there to say? What does he expect? For us to talk about how long Rooney's fingernails are? How Nani resembles the late Michael Jackson? How Antonio Valencia is his long lost brother and is related directly to Michael Jackson? How Evra is actually a white man?

Added on January 7, 2011, 7:53 pmWell, that's it. We can't tease other fans. That's a first. laugh.gif
We can't make fun of their teams.

They must not be true Reds huh? Maybe they should have wrote about their teams instead of us.. wonder why?

There are all kinds of fans. The good ones and the bad ones. All clubs have those sort of guys, equally I bet give or take a few here and there. But no, ManUtd is evil. Most of our own fans know nothing about our club. We the clueless fans who post here just to make fun of them and don't post anything of note about our beloved club. We don't know who Fletcher is. He's not popular. We don't know the likes of Macheda, Welbeck, Fabio, Gibson, blabla because they are kids. We only know of Rooney, Ronaldo(he's still with us?), Tevez, Giggs, Scholes, Rio, VDS and Diouf.. apart from those, the others are just 'meh'.

sundays game is more then just about pool.its an fa cup, a long affair much longer then all of us combined.we all know about the league but this isnt far either.

a lot is at stakes and with this competition being the cream of the crop for surprises, we can be bloody sure it will be the same.im still looking at this match with a big hint of caution even with what the they are doing in the league.
*
Any type of games no matter what won't be easy against our rivalsif they are the underdogs and especially when they are in shitty form. Form won't matter. And this being a cup game, they will try even harder. It won't be easy this.

League in disarray! :lol:Everyone drop points throughout the season. Us with the draws, Chelsea not unbeatable, Arsenal same old kids, and Liverpool can't get out of the mud that Rafa left them in. Spurs not expected to be 'consistent'.. so we have everyone all close by, all losing points here and there.

One game at a time. Liverpool first, then the rest will come if we can get past them. I hate these big games. It's not good for my nerve!

Added on January 8, 2011, 1:11 pmSAF-Goalkeeper situation: "Anders Lindegaard is available. He's trained well but obviously hasn't had any game time. So if Edwin's not available on Sunday then I'd probably favour Kuszczak. I'll keep all three keepers, and Ben Amos will probably go out on loan."
