cody: just get a A55 first, get used to the camera first, after u feel like u can handle the camera, then only add accessories like flash.

getting a flash might confuse u when shoot or trying to get a good shot. i have many friend after 3 month still can get the flash to work rite... then i found out, they have mess up the setting with the body, not the flash. learn the body first.

i played with it since it was launched..i know what i want....i just want to know which and what to get blush.gif

haha...no point if wasn't the whole system or something has lack....because what i want to play with requires the whole system....maybe i'll use kit lens with a better flash....then grab better lens next time

OR

i invest more and get kit lens, flash and everything else....maybe i need to buy toto

well, unless u KNOW what u need, then diff story.
when u dont know what u need, its best for u to experience the basic hand on with real situation first. from there, u learn what u need to expand.

i am not a lens guy(although i own much lens, but they are cheap lens anyway) but i am a light guy, my photography primary resolve around artificial lights. not available light, so i dont hold onto lastest high iso gear with wide open lenses.

playing fooling or testing around doesnt not count as experience as it does not put u in real situation to gain real experience. u can ask anyone of us here with more then 6 month experience, they will say, play with ur kitlens first. unless those under 6 month and still a gearhead tongue.gif

thanks for the concern but i been trying hard and working on those....maybe i don't have too much experience on dslrs...but i think(i guess) i am familiar with this a55 which i am going to own...own previously but not mine....therefore what i want to learn is the add-ons like lens and flash capability from you guys....recommendation...please don't critic as it has nothing to do with my request...all i wanted to know is what suitable accessories to par and how much....i felt insulted for wanting to know more?

u never will know what type of shooter u are until u get ur first basic set.

are u a macro shooter? u dont need 1750 F2.8 for macro.
are u a landscape shooter? u better off with UWA lens and u dont need flash, u might need a tripod
are u a structural shooter? u need UWA and tripod
are u a journalism lover? u need to shoot more
are u a street shooter? u might need longer lens.
are u a sport shooter? u definitely need a longer lens, and some sport do not allows flash.
are u a available light shooter? available light shooter dont use flash, they pump high iso and uses bright lens eg F1.4 or F2.8
are u a strobist lover? all u need is a kitlens, and flash accessories.

well, many of us has said.

tamron 1750 is good lens.

F58 is best flash u can get if u can afford.

not once but many times.

when u ask which is best to get again, i believe most photographer felt insulted too, they have already advise u.

now u ask which is suitable to get first.... most of us also explained, shoot first, and u will know which to get next, because we gone through that journey to tell u this, u will know only after u start shooting.

eg: i been playing and touching ferrari cars (due to my job, i polish cars) i have tone of experience with ferrari cars... and that doesnt means i know how to drive one. so pls stop saying how well u know A55. it doesnt mean u know how to shoot(yet).

I don't even know what iso, aperture, and flash to begin with... and I'm one of the student who took photography for 1 semester ... believe or not.. I don't even know my dslr can use a lot of other lenses and external flash when I'm playing with my first dslr

but heck that don't stop me from getting nice pictures for my subject and also for my personal usage and yes, my lecturers are strict on his student means "always use manual setting including focus no matter what the condition is or I'll check on the computer and if I find 1 setting using auto, I will automatically fail your subject" good, huh?

after 1 month of usage, already can figure out what those camera settings can do and explore more from there. Though people would call this a fool way to learn.. I'd say I can remember better.. if I explore myself... and if one takes 1 year to learn camera settings.... then I'd say you're a slow learner... digital are always easy and made easy for the consumer to be self learning.

and fyi, 50mm and flash is a must have for most of the people, you don't have to wait till you're master with your camera because that would be a waste of time... instead.. why not just buy and experiment more. Unless.. theres no money to spend on, that I can understand

strobist are people who love to 'create' light, the flash unit, flash is an action, not an objective. real name is called strobe. strobist means u are the people who uses flash to create light. studio shooter are mostly strobist. studio light (strobe) are type of equipment used to create very special softshadow effect of photo.

well, buy a A55, use it first, get some idea which road u wan to journey down, then i believe u have the extra money left (u did not spend it all on A55 rite?) u can buy the right equipment/accessories for the type of shooter u will become smile.gif

please don't felt insulted...yeah...i do appreciate every reply on here....you had to forgive me for my direct sentences...because every respond you all gave let me understands more on the subject....i know i am noisy but this is how i plan for myself....i am not a cheapskate but i wanted to know everything before i own it(i believe most user beside camera does)....and yes you are right....i should get the kit lens first and perhaps a sony flash...which nobody recommends any 3rd party flash here so i'll treat sony flash as mandatory?...lens-wise as you say to identify which characteristic thing......can grab next time..... smile.gif

hahaha, that is a harsh way to force u guys to learn smile.gif i believe most 'student' at the end of the semester wouldnt learn anything if the lecturer ask them use auto/program mode... hahaha!~

took me 1 month to understand manual properly, but 1 year to master it. but i did it easy going way. for ur class/lecture, forcing u guys to do it the hard way force more learning in such short period of time smile.gif like martial art too, force training 1 month is stronger then easy training for 10 years.

not really, my friend has 1750 F2.8, and since even if u have 50mm u end up shooting at F2.8 for best proper DOF control, he skipped the 50mm and grab a 135 instead. and he still flashless today. available light shooter.

the reason why most ppl owned the 50mm (mostly F1.8) because its cheap, mere 300 for nikon and canon, or 4xx for sony. compare to 1750 or F58/580exII/sb900....

idealism

A900 + 3 trio F2.8 lens.
1635cz
2470cz
70200G

extra?
16mm FE
70-400

and u get the title, haul king of the year.... moo or rayng(?) might be provoked because their title being stolen tongue.gif

idealism has huge conflict with "performance-budget" tongue.gif

just get a A55, it has high iso performance. at some point if u prefer available light shooter, then u wouldnt need a flash, but a F2.8 lens like tamron 1750.
or u might end up love to play with wireless flash (studio like result) then u might end up buying flash and lightstand and accessories.
