OLDer sigma requires their chip to be replace with the one compatible with A33/55.
the New one mostly are replaced with the new chip. it is not calibration. |

codyx: 1750 is good lens indeed, no i wouldnt call it old, as there is only 1 version for sony, and that it, the new with VC seem to have more issue on canon and nikon then non VC model. so, dont need to worry, we have like 10 user here with the 1750, half of them no complain, half complain bout backfocusing, but the backfocusing issue is very random(some got it fixed result from body, NOT LENS), noone has report from A55 user yet with 1750 problem.
my advise, stick with kitlens first, cheap and backup lens when u have new lens (or when new lens like tamron1750(or other kitlens replacement) goes to service, u'll have a spare 1855) as for flash, there is reason why original brand flash are expensive (even C and N). they spend HUGE amount of money the develop ADI(sony/minolta), eTTL II (canon, or iTTL(nikon) compare to 3rd party is just simply a TLL which cause very inaccurate and inconsistant flash result. (except 3rd party like METz (which is same price as sony flash) with licenses($$) from company to use their ADI/eTTL/iTTL technology.) stick with original, if u have tight budget, leave the tamron lens first, get flash like F58, or B. get the tamron, and sony F20 flash (small compact, and fun) |

I was advices to grab the tamron due to it's low light potential aperture than the kit lens...so by this i prioritize on image quality secondly i need a external flash because the body flash as we all know is useless and worst for close up or near shorts budget issue....for a55+tamron(approx 3.3k).....plus flash(not considering small ones)..i heard nissin brand was good..no idea about the compatibility....hence i need a flash which is budget wise but has standard feature....therefore sony hardware flash cost more to my budget and i was thinking you guys have any alternative flash i can wear...i do not prefer perfect flash but as long i got one the reasons for my statement above because i wanted to build a complete DSLR set(better lens/external flash) because i wanted to use it ASAP....i do not care for spare issue as i just a student and i cost to be an enthusiast!...i know better price gadget comes with exp price but the time now as long i can get a full rig i have satisfied....budget-urgent business....after then i can consider selling of/replacing/buying much much more appropriate lens/flash as long i got a good machine(a55)...agreed? therefore, please consult again....so far as i know i'll skip the kit lens and get tamron for now....the issue is the ex flash....i need a price ranging for the flash so i can budget....i was hoping to get a decent/non sony ex flash for around 3xx-6xx...lesser the better hope you guys understand.. EVF is not for everyone, but it seem many love EVF. i myself like EVF, it has more advantage then disadvantages.
but some ppl just exaggerate how bad it is, when its just a mere mind psychology thing. i mean, there is so many ppl LIVED fine with LCD liveview (compact camera to mirrorless to DSLR, and infact, noone ever complains bout the liveview or LCD!!!!!) and the EVF is just a mere LCD in a hole for those "hole" freaks (looking into the hole makes u look more pro mindset or how silly u are using the LCD LV to take pic, looks like compact shooter or uncle photographer etc. the mindset is soooo strong that even when we saw Nex user, we will never think they are PRO or think they are just noob sigh~) |

u do not need a F2.8 lens when u have marvelous ISO body. period. kitlens can do as good.
u wan bokeh, get 50mm F1.8. period. 99% nissin-sony user i know will have hard time selling the flash and eventually will get F58 flash. F58, end of flash journey, nothing to upgrade anymore and no worries for many years to come. prepare rm200-250 to get a PROPER charger and LSD-type(google/wiki) AA batts for ur flash. shashinki now having promo for get the 401s(period) with their New imedion2400(LSD type) and FOC a carrying case/bag for it. and finally, if u do not have saving up to 5k, dont bother start DSLR. u will settle with HALF HALF setup. u only will feel more frustration then satisfaction. cody, i think A55 will let u survive for quiet sometime with great iso and speed.... u are sony staff? unless the manager there is nice enough then only u get cheaper/staff price (no, u cant get cost price. it is confidential to let other know the cost price, u might get fired too if ur manager or someone from sony finds out u spreading cost price list around
the lens hood is for outdoor use with u have strong lightsource in corner (eg. the SUN) but then, a lot of people LOVES the sunflare, it add dramatic effect to the photo. and i doubt there is petal hood for the 1855 kitlens as it has rotating front element? as for flash, we always as ppl get F58 if budget allows. also it look really really really weird for F58 to sit on a small A55 body (F58 is huge) This post has been edited by ieR: Dec 28 2010, 01:45 AM |

cody: just get a A55 first, get used to the camera first, after u feel like u can handle the camera, then only add accessories like flash.
getting a flash might confuse u when shoot or trying to get a good shot. i have many friend after 3 month still can get the flash to work rite... then i found out, they have mess up the setting with the body, not the flash. learn the body first.
