Hi smile.gif I've been reading posts about TMnet capping bandwidth recently and would like to get feedbacks on the following matter :

I am a 1MB Streamyx subscriber and for the past few years, my download stream is capped at 2048Kbps (I believe majority of 1MB subscribers also have the same download stream?). Most of the time, I have no problem getting 90% fullspeed (reaching almost 200KB/s whenever I download files from major hosts like Megaupload, Rapidshare etc). Yesterday morning, I checked my modem config and saw this "shocking" 1024Kbps for download stream. I tried downloading a file and although I still get around 90% fullspeed, it goes up to 90KB/s only. So I believe my download stream has been reduced.

Question : Is this some mistake made by TMnet on my port ('cuz I've reported about frequent disconnection lately during heavy rain) or they think I don't deserve 2048Kbps anymore?

Thank you smile.gif

same stuff happened to me so I guess they are reducing those with over capped speed in order to save bandwith.

Chartry,

I've emailed to help@tm.com.my TWICE with a screenshot of my modem configuration showing the Downstream Rate (1024Kbps). Finally, I checked it again this evening, they fixed it, YIPEE! It is now 2048Kbps. Try email them! Good luck!

Applied new 4mb line. Tested with speedtest.net.
Noticed my location change to sabah/sarawak? I'm from west coast. IP problem?

As my speeds been slow the last 2 months.Called up streamyx support 2 days ago and told them my slow speed problems and also that I have to restart my modem every 2 to 3 hours as it gets disconnected. The time when I called the technical person the first time I just restarted my modem. But when he asked me to test the speed it was about 600 for my 1mb line.o he told me when my modem get disconnected than call again so they can trouble shoot.
Than this morning I called again as my line was disconnected so did not restart my modem and gave my report number and she asked me to run speedtest. So gave her my readings and guess what she asked me."Are you really connected to streamyx" I told her what a joke as I only have streamyx at my house and i have a streamyx IP and also could do the speed test even thought its slow.

She said her system shows I am not connected.I told her than you must know why your system shows I am not connected as I am.But she cannot get it and keeps saying I am noy using my streamyx.

The line got cut and i called a nother person and she said its my firewall.I told her cannot be.anyway this person opened a report for me.

Been a while since i last posted.. everything seems peachy for now... solid 440-450 kBps still, except for brief periods of slowdown between 10pm - 1am..

But i know this is just yet another calm before the storm....

All good things must come to an end.....

EDIT: I've been reading http://stopthecap.com/ for quite a bit now... apparently other countries have started contemplating doing what TMNUT wants to do soon... They tried doing it in the Philippines but met huge consumer uproar... and citizens actually complained to their representatives... just a dream for us i suppose lol...

Streamyx screwed my connection real bad. I'm a 1mb user, and according to speedtest, my download speed is ONLY 0.36mb/s (coming off a local server). Heck, it's even slower than my upload at 0.41mb/s!! And I haven't been downloading nuts of late!! SOME service they're providing.

Without using VPN. It takes about 10-20 minutes for the speed to increase.
