If ever your N8 failed to boot up (mean pressing the power button but no response), do as follow:
1. Verify is it a SW hang by long press the power button >7.5 seconds to force shutdown the N8. This is for SW hang scenario 2. Plug in the charger and wait for AT LEAST 15 minutes, then try to boot up. This is for depleted battery scenario 3. If you are SURE the battery not depleted and got the DEAD N8, send to NCC for checking as it might be defective hardware related issues.
From experience, the N8 can't be Hard Reset once it's failed to boot up normally or so call "DEAD N8".

4. From what I've observed the phone AMOLED will start to turn off start at "ST BLACK-04.bmp", "ST BLACK-03.bmp", "ST BLACK-02.bmp", "ST BLACK-01.bmp",
"ST BLACK-00.bmp".
5. The screen dark "stains" will sufface as well during these few color cards.
6. Start from "ST BLACK-05.bmp" onward the dark "stains" will be not so visible.
7. All these have to be done in total darkness room as these defective "stains" are not visible at all when the surrounding are bright.
After you seen these result DO NOT simply bash N8 straight away as we're not sure why/how the AMOLED display technology work and how it perform on other
devices. Anyone can use these color cards to verify on others AMOLED display devices as well...

just back from movie.btw,the Ovi Maps is tremendous impressive! From my house(wangsa maju) to ampang(tamarind),typical way is MRR2 which will spend 40 minutes to reach the destination depart at 7pm. HOW DOES OVI MAPS LEAD ME Ovi Maps lead me to Sri Rampai then go into the Duke highway end up exit at Jalan Ampang.all the way no traffic jam and i just spent 20 minutes to reach there.However,im quite surprise Ovi Maps did updated for the Duke highway as well.

GPS navigation can be hit or miss experience. For instance, it will try the shortest route but some will have preference to route through highways, main roads etc. The worse part is that it was not updated with traffic information. It will still route you to those heavily congested roads.
Ovi maps and Google Maps cant rival Garmin for re-routing. You reached a very heavily jammed up road, do a surprise turn and Garmin will lead you still to your destination if there are alternative. Google Maps always tell me to go back to the main road.. Ovi not sure, lastime with Nokia Map, same thing...

I am sure most buyers would have done their research on that matter what.. but Agito.. one thing for certain is that this phone has the capability to play games and play games well, its just that there are no new games at the moment. Either they are on the way.. or still in production, who knows?

Nokia n8 is quite good actually... Playing Guitar Rock 2, Angry Birds, Asphalt 5 , NFS Shift, The Sim 3, Rollercoaster quite smooth.. Saw my friend HTC Legend playing Angry bird not smooth and laggy...

Nokia n8 is quite good actually... Playing Guitar Rock 2, Angry Birds, Asphalt 5 , NFS Shift, The Sim 3, Rollercoaster quite smooth.. Saw my friend HTC Legend playing Angry bird not smooth and laggy...
Not I support apple but u go try on iPad or iPhone 4 u will shock what call smooth lol. Open close apps and reopen another won't lag. I really hope the next symbian will be better.

Nokia n8 is quite good actually... Playing Guitar Rock 2, Angry Birds, Asphalt 5 , NFS Shift, The Sim 3, Rollercoaster quite smooth.. Saw my friend HTC Legend playing Angry bird not smooth and laggy...

actually performance benchmark wise i think N8 scores higher then iphone 4 on graphical performance due to lower resolution, according to what nicholas said to me..so, if u say Fifa 11 on N8, it can be done also, up to EA wanna port a not only...

Real zoom is bringing your camera closer to the subject lorr..
ya i m impressed by close up lens only...wide angle not really impress...maybe had to go out test with street view. and down side of the lens is n8 aperture size is larger a bit bit...so without the zoom we can see the "circle" like my close up shot...had to zoom a bit bit to crop it out.

I think I skip the iPad this round. Decided to buy a 2nd hand DSLR like sifu Aspire recommended with the budget. BTW, the kids were with me when we walked in Machines, KLCC and they were also not impressed with the aloof nature of the staffs there. See, even kids knows what is good service nowadays.

Thanks, I saw the album this morning, but does it fit on the back of N8?, I mean there is some "bumb" at the back of the N8 for the camera...
temporary stick only, use it when you open camera, and as for the circle area at the corner of the photo, i tried on SE w950i (anyway smaller camera lens) the effect still same. so you maybe need zoom in a bit to hide the things.

u mean u stick it on the perforated case? then this will add the distance of the lens from the camera sensor leh... take off the perforated case and stick direct to the camera u will get a bigger ring (mean less covered space)...

You can goto connection manager and manually disconnect the 'hang' session...

Not worth buying since I think the availability is very low and the price is quite high. I'm using Porta Power but still feels that it's not enough so maybe the Sanyo ones are a better choice

What mode you're on? Auto or Night mode? Or other modes? The one without flash, I think you can play with EV for darker exposure to bring out the give similar effect with the one with flash. Need SIFU aspire to comment

flash projects white flash lo. thats why when too much flash, the blue color reflect the white color. hence you'll see more white when using flash.
Is normal without flash it auto increase ISO. So if the light not enough it will be at HIGH ISO thats why the noise is there. If u use flash bright enough then the iso will be LOW

Sure lo, without flash, and if auto ISO, it's bumping up the ISO to get correct exposure. For night shots like this, you might want to lower the exposure to get different effects.
That is weird for me without flash it is blue. I dont understand how it became white except u change the white balance

Try to play with exposure compensation (EV) when taking these kind of shot, you would want to lower the exposure to bring the lights out, and you can also try to force the ISO at certain number. You have to play around with it as lowering the iso, it will slow down the shutter speed and you will might get blur picture.

its like when he is using n900 he is fishing in his own pond he easily catch the few fishes. Now he have the ocean he dunno where to begin? Thats what i notice from my observation

When use flash, you can force higher ISO to get more exposure, or use Night Mode. You can try Night Mode with and without Flash and compare. No choice, big upgrade from FCam, haha. He really play a lot with FCam, and FCam really have nice built-in features like adding vignetting to the photos, easier exposure control, etc. When using DSLR, it's somewhat different already, and using the viewfinder is again another experience, reading all those meters, and all those functions. It's a good experience.
Need your guidance, tips, etc. to help him become a "Jedi".
yea take awhile to get used to. I play alot of manual controls so now i am used to it already. There are limitation on DSLR due to require to change lens

Yea, lens, not to mention how expensive they are, especially those wide aperture lens, like f2.8 zooms.... f1.4 primes... crazy price, and when you get wide angles, the price is another killer or super zooms with f2.8 constant apertures... crazy stuff..... unless it's a job that generates money, else it's a crazy expensive hobby...

Especially when take indoor pictures, the capabilities of handling higher ISO, better AWB, better metering system, better and faster AF, etc. ESPECIALLY if you put on a prime lens with wide aperture like 50mm f1.8. Totally beats point and shoot like those high end compact digital camera flat. No fight, too big difference.

harharhar bfore iphone was not around...ngage get all the glory. If n8 sell really2 well; & marketing campaign hype n8 gaming capabilites to the insane level..it might interest the games investors.

The point I'm highlighting is the apps and games; Last time it was Pocket PC/Windows Mobile OS era, less competition. iOS came along, nothing special "actually" but with the tons of apps, especially games, attracts many people attention. Back in those days, imagine N-Gage, 3650, 6600, etc. able to play games like King Of Figthers on the handphone! It was WOW and lag? I don't really notice lag except when playing multi-player via bluetooth.
What people are buying? Many people do not, they get a smartphone when what they really want is just a phone that have many games, or have great camera, etc. Many people buys a phone because of what others people say, people say it's good, they buy, ended up they're not satisfied as it doesn't meet their requirement and then calls it a bad phone. The most important is choosing the right phone for each individual.
1)make sure you do your research and dont be blinded by others. If you want specific stuff make sure the device can do specific stuff
2) price does not matter as well.. cheap or expensive.. if the device does not cater to your needs.. you will complain anyway.
3) always do research before you buy a product.. I did, and i am happy. I already knew the games on this device would be limited.. but the camera is good

Nokia lack off when apple was growing nokia joined the touchscreen market quite late I still remember nokia 5800 . Radio also said nokia have a 5 years plan ahead they take it too easy because they been dominating all the while didn't expect apple to grow so fast. Another thing nokia already have nokia n8 long time ago but they delay it. So If nokia want to go against this few big company is best they focus on hardware and OS.
After Apple launch ip4 the touch sensitivity improve a lot but look at nokia n8 SMS also can sometimes be very tiring

Just imagine open a heavy graphic games like need for speed shift close then open another game like infinity blade or aka prince of persia no lag. I support nokia but in long run too many ppl will be too used to iphone then for them to switch to nokia will be a challenge because they leave a bad memory for alot the reason lag. For Nokia to catch up they need a very good OS and hardware.

tested HTC wildfire & legend and both is slowpoke units especially burung marah.. haha.. even worst than n8 arm processor lolx..

Nokia n8 for me still better. if u really wanna play a great games with graphic, why dont use laptop? even now 10/12" one can play game very nice. Use lappy anytime can pawn ipon and ipad game and enjoys more games. But N8 not same. its camera its powah.. you can use to capture every moment when u go out. its camera quality is equals to digicam.
If nokia keep on upgrading their tech , i believe one day 1 day all ppl will go back to nokia again.

true but the gap la like example u computer expert after u dont touch it for 5 years u still good but wont be as good as 5 years ago. I really want to play game on the Nokia N8 but its just u know one word sad. To pawn ipon computer your spec must be good and u need to download the apps.Pc u need see your pc/notebook requirement but on ipon any apps u download mostly work. When ipon u jb one apps can download anytime anywhere any apps/games. Just my opinion for comparison sake of both device mastered. I master n8 for photography and apple for gaming sake lol.
