It won't remove any apps, you can update from 5.6.

But if you're facing FC or problems, try clean install
*
Actually, coming from a clean stock JPU then flashed to clean stock JPX and then Darky 6.0, I did notice 1 small bug or issue - when going to Settings / Display / Wallpapers / Lock Screen Wallpaper / Gallery, I get process com.android.settings FC everytime. Probably it's pointing to stock gallery app and Darky has removed that in favour of the modded gallery app?

Added on December 21, 2010, 2:40 pmOh yeah, one more thing. Had a very interesting experience flashing fresh XXJPX. Everytime I flash using ODIN, with 512 pit and repartition checked, the phone would finish and boot with non stop vibrations.

Had to flash XXJPU with 512 pit and repartition checked, then flash XXJPX without pit and without repartition to get it up to JPX without issues.

Lock Screen Wallpaper FC because that option is for TouchWiz, but darkyy changed it to AOSP lock screen so the option won't work.

I usually flash to elcair stock then flash to darkky.

I see, I guess that must be why.. smile.gif Thanks for explaining, bro.

Stock Eclair.. wow, feels like so long ago. tongue.gif

You do Eclair followed by Darky because you want the 2e recovery menu (in order to apply Darky), yes? How about CF-Root, do you still use after going to Darky or is Darky already pre-rooted?

I actually did JPU via ODIN -> JPX via ODIN -> CF-Root via ODIN -> CWM update.zip via 2e -> Darky 6.0 zip via CWM. Indian ma, I like long winded process.. tongue.gif tongue.gif

Want to know where could i find the USB driver alone in order to connect to laptop or PC instead of KIES?
I had downloaded and installed from
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/S...ndows-x86.shtml
but failed to connect to my laptop (windows 7 x86)
*
I'm sure everyone here installed KIES to get the driver since no one able to anwser this....

You're wrong there. I never installed Kies before. I am using the SGS drivers from Softpedia.com for my Windows laptop (Win7 32bit). At home, I just enable usb_debugging to access the phone from my Linux (Ubuntu 10.04 64bit and 10.10 64bit) computers.

anooo.... you could use this method.. but you still need to download kies

Requirements:
-Samsung Kies installer package
-7-zip

Procedure:
1.Install 7-zip
2.Right click the Kies installer and Find 7-zip->Extract to "Kies_x.x.x.xxxxx_xx\"
3.Navigate to "Kies_x.x.x.xxxxx_xx-->CabFile-->USB Driver"
4.Right click the "SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe.cab" file and 7-zip->Extract to "SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe\"
5.Open the folder SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe\ and execute SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe and follow the installer instructions.
6.Enjoy connecting your phone without the full Kies install.
