Took a glance at CIMB Visa Signature in the website, the only feature that captured my eyes is COMPLIMENTARY gsc ticket regardless of class of ticket ie.Gold, Premiere, Normal.

Other features like 2X reward points and  "Enjoy complimentary access to Plaza Premium Lounge 2 times a year" totally cannot beat SCB BUSINESS VISA PLATINUM.

2x if swipe oversea, not local whistling.gif

in comparison, amex gold give 2x to 5x for local spend laugh.gif

They are all waive anyway...

really? all waive anyway? hmm.gif

dont think so sweat.gif

as long as not free for life or free with condition (such as 36 swipe/year or spend rm30k/year), then its not guarantee waived!

well, seems almost all ur card can get free for life with condition such as pbb, alliance, eon, citibank (assume its choice) and hlb.

also cards that are really free for life without condition such as ambg, mbb amex, and cimb.

others, usually need to call to waived.
unless, they already make it free for life for u.

my mbb (not petronas) free for life with no condition (should have annual fee).
my hsbc also free for life with no condition (should swipe 12x/year).

I received a call at 2.15pm from someone who claimed to be from Standard Chartered name 'Ken' or somewhat similar. He started offering me about this SCB credit cards and asked which cards and CL I possessed at the moment. I felt suspicious after that and straight then I questioned him how he has my HP number, he answered 'we pick the number randomly' and then shooted him which branch he is from... 'Standard Chartered lah' is his answer, then without further discussion I just told him to forward me the details of his so called promotions to my email and up 'till now I don't get his email. anyone who encountered the same experience please share whether this is a prank or not...
*
usually bank only called to verify transaction, and this procedure not even asking for ur credit card number.

and afaik, bank never call people to offer credit card? hmm.gif

Standard Chartered do not make calls to offer cc. Even if it is done, it is done by Price Solutions which is the marketing arm for Standard Chartered.

tAmp0i & erry- ... I'll suggest removing the reference to the mobile number directly as I don't see a (proven) scam has happened. It is potential warning ... just to be fair to the guy in case he was genuine. And if there's really a case, tAmp0i please report it to SCB because SCB take such matters seriously.

I don't think this a place to make a report based on something still vague and without proof. Definitely ... this cc thread is not Kopi Tiam. Let's handle matters in a more adult fashion.
*
ok removed the number already in my previous post.

btw, the number shows up in our screen sometimes is not real.

like ambank case, they never call their cust, but their helpline number is being used by scammer to call people sweat.gif

its not DA fast, but it depends on the merchant (same bank merchant or when do they claim from the bank).

recently one of my friend applied CIMB DA and approved, now she change her mind and decide to cancel it off, but RM50 GST still imposed even though she did not activate or swipe the card

anybody success in appeal against CIMB?

p/s: she already called the customer service and spoken to manager, still cannot waived the GST
*
once approved, gst charged, there is no way to cancel. just use the card, get as much rebate to cover the gst back, and cancel it on 11th month.

Guys,
i have cancelled my HLB cc since 2008. But in august 2010 they send a statement stating tat i have an overdue payment.
I do not intend to pay for the service tax as my card was cancelled before the implementation of the tax.

Guys, would like to know what should i do?
1) do i really need to pay for the service tax?
2) if i do not make the payment, what is the consequences?
*
QUOTE(HJebat @ Jan 12 2011, 09:45 AM)
i did not get any statements between 2008 & August 2010.
So, when i received it on August 10...i was like "huh?!" blur, blur...
*
u not received statement bcoz u didnt swipe the card.
thats why bank dont send any statement, untill got govt tax rm50 imposed on june 2010, then there u have a statement on august 2010.

try to appeal to waived the gst and cancel the card.
if unsuccessful, just pay that rm50 and cancel the card. make sure this time confirm cancel.
its better to go to bank to cancel, and the bank officer cut the card in front of ur eyes.

then try to get rm50 (or more) from other cards rebates (to cover that rm50).

QUOTE(afad @ Jan 12 2011, 02:32 PM)
so that mean anything we buy will accumulate in the statement date,
and also the interest free period actually starts frm the statement date to the due date (not from the date of purchase rite),
if like that then we can have like u said more than 40 days of interest free rclxms.gif ,

im confused bcos before,i consult abt it with CIMB bank officer when im there,
and he kept saying that if i dont pay my usage 20 days after i swept my card for any purchases,
i will be charge with the finance charge, i dont want that..

and according to his explanation (if it is true),
then we need to know the date of every purchases we make,
and start counting the days, if we want to avoid the finance charge,
correct me if im wrong, still learning here sweat.gif
*
when u have credit card, look at statement date, due date and statement balance.

i give u my hsbc bill, statement date is 28/12/2010 and due date is 17/01/2011.

so, statement date 28/12/2011 are usually swipes 1 month before (29/11/2010 till 28/12/2010), and i must pay it by 17/01/2011.
my statement balance is rm13,531.96

meanwhile, between 29/12/2010 till today, i already swipe rm3,671.94 (called as current/unbilled/recent transaction).

here, if i want 20 days interest-free period,
i must pay rm13,531.96 (full statement balance) on 17/01/2011!
so my current rm3,671.94 wont be charged with interest ~
this is what its mean with 20 days interest-free period (28/12/2010 - 17/01/2011 wont be charged with interest).

but like Gen-X mentioned, its actually more than 20 days.
let say i swipe rm3,000 on 29/12/2001, it will be billed on 28/01/2011, and i need to pay it on 17/02/2011.
if calculated exactly, its 51 days~ whistling.gif

the bank officer should tell u in easy word, which is:
pay statement balance (NOT minimum balance) on due date and u wont be charged with any interest smile.gif

full statement balance ok! like my statement, must pay exactly 96 cents (at the back) or just pay extra such as rm13,540 (if using CDM).
if i pay rm13,530 and leave even just rm1.96, that rm1.96 and my current rm3,671.94, plus any swipe before 28/1/2011 all will have interest!

it is not they charge me for the early installment but they charged me for the exceeding usage of my credit card. i thought i have payed them off but they took my early payment as payment for installment. sweat.gif
*
depends on bank, some bank like hsbc, u pay more, it will deduct the installment. some other bank, it will deduct unbilled / recent transaction.

HSBC will deduct the installment, while CIMB & DA will deduct recent transaction and will increased CL.

QUOTE(gerrardling @ Jan 12 2011, 11:52 AM)
i think HSBC billing system is so damn stupid, if u pay more than ur statement, they will use it to offset ur installment and ask u to pay for the early settlement. u just need to go to their branch and file for dispute and ask them to solve it within one week, then they will reverse the installment back to u
*
what stupid system? that is their system, their right doh.gif
have u fully read their t&c before using installment?

and, why need to pay more than statement balance? usually 'that more' is below rm10 if using CDM?
want to increase CL to swipe again? well, HSBC wont work like that ~

HSBC, if have installment, the best is pay full statement balance. no need to pay for ur unbilled / recent transaction.
paying unbilled transaction wont increase CL. just wait for the next statement.

QUOTE(my_cat @ Jan 12 2011, 11:49 AM)
I never utilize credit card installment plan. Do you mean all banks will treat "early payment" or "extra payment" as installment?
*
not all bank. HSBC yes, but DA & CIMB not (refer my reply to PPZ above).

QUOTE(winner @ Jan 12 2011, 03:03 PM)
Some banks impose a strict rule that any payment amount which is higher than the statement outstanding balance will be deemed extra payment for the existing installment programme. If you pay more and the outstanding installment amount is settled, then early settlement penalty is charged. That’s why some people would rather stop using the card until installment programme has completed.
*
again, if HSBC, yes will deduct the installment.

but CIMB/DA will deduct recent transaction and will increased CL.

another question,
what if i make an installment plan,
do the finance charges also apply to the installment or not?
*
ur welcome ~

installment plan amount will be included in the statement balance.
as long as u pay full amount of statement balance by due date, ur installment balance wont be charged with interest smile.gif
