I currently have a PB Gold and I plan to pledge a small amount of FD to increase my credit limit- I suppose that makes it a 'secured' credit card?
Can I apply for another banks card with a 'secured' card?
*
Yes you can apply for OCBC Titanum and HLB CC by pledging your FD.

QUOTE(stacko @ Dec 17 2010, 01:21 PM)
Is it actually possible for the cashier to charge a single receipt/bill with multiple cards? Cos I always paid full with a single card.
*
yes it is possible, just ask if you want to do so . Did it 2 weeks ago when purchasing a watch. However I don't think department stores like JJ or TESCO will allow you to do so.

QUOTE(persistence85 @ Dec 17 2010, 02:54 PM)
..and it's not hard to spend RM10k in a single card per year  rolleyes.gif
*
depends on individual, then again for people spending more than RM12K a year (to maximumixe the 5% rebate), OCBC Titanum is not so beneficial as no reward points.

Well it is a fact that most of us know that Maybank Credit Cards (excluding AMEX) have the lowest admin fees for overseas transaction but is there a difference between using Visa or MasterCard? Below is a table showing my transactions in Singapore with different cards.

user posted image

Check out the my transactions on 26th November where payments were made to same company for purchase of Universal Studios ticket with DAWMB and MBB Pet Visa. The conversion rate is almost the same!

If you guys recall, zenquix mentioned before that his Alliance MC rate was lower than Alliance Visa for overseas transactions. The fact is for Visa cards, MBB the best but we should now find out MBB MC versus other MasterCards.

If you very free, to read more on my comments on table above, click below link to My Credit Cards:

QUOTE(David83 @ Dec 18 2010, 04:47 PM)
DA MC is not my primary card. Even they're lucrative, the only reason I'm still keeping my DA MC is their BT deal and the limit they offered to me compared to MBB.
*
DA was the first to offer 0% BT and they are very efficient and payment made about a week from application.

And David, i am surprised you asked what is good with DA? Use it at KFC and Burger King!

QUOTE(chemistry @ Dec 18 2010, 05:31 PM)
Last few months I went to Room18 Restaurant a few times, DA card helped me save RM70 (10% discount). Dragon-i's 20x Reward Pts is equivalent to 10% cashback as well. biggrin.gif
*
Canton-i also got extra points with DA smile.gif Too bad they no longer have the sweet bun.

But just to let you know, BNM have made all banks to allow it customers 3 days grace period from due date to make payment.

if you there's a PBB branch near where you are, just go to the branch with your CC statement or Credit Card and they will do the rest (i.e. photocopy you card and IC).

well HSBC do have pretty good promotions and PBB do have good BT plans. But then again you get nothing with HSBC for pumping at Esso.

Go work out out how much you can get in terms of cash rebate from PBB yearly and if it is more than the GST, nothing to loose but more to gain.

QUOTE(persistence85 @ Dec 21 2010, 01:59 PM)
The limit of your liability for a lost or stolen credit card is RM250.00 only under Rule 13.2 of the Bank Negara rules on credit card if it has been fraudulently used.

Please note this limit and ensure that your bank does not overcharge you should your card have been used illegally.

Most are unaware of RM250 limited liability C PLEASE READ AND BE INFORMED! CARDHOLDERS need not pay more than RM250 whenever their lost or stolen credit cards are used by others. Yet, often times, they end up paying much more.

This is because Bank Negara has not informed cardholders that they do not have to pay more than RM250 for fraudulent transactions carried out using their lost or stolen cards, when they had not acted fraudulently and had informed the banks about the lost or stolen cards as soon as possible.

This protection is given under Clause 13.2 of Bank Negara's Credit Card Guideline:

"The cardholder's maximum liability for unauthorised transactions as a consequence of a lost or stolen credit card shall be confined to a limit specified by the issuer of credit cards, which shall not exceed RM250 provided the cardholder has not acted fraudulently or has not failed to inform the issuer of credit cards as soon as reasonably practicable after having found that his credit card is lost or stolen."

Banks know about Clause 13.2 but have chosen to ignore it. Instead they pursue cardholders for the fraudulent transactions.

They will tell cardholders that a clause in the credit card contracts states that all transactions carried out before the loss of the cards are reported to the banks, are deemed to be carried out by the cardholders.

Many cardholders then pay up because they are unaware of the RM250 limited liability. "

no one knows what are the evaluation criteria for OCBC cc. my friend's application was rejected too. they sent a letter to his house. probably coz he is owning too many cards ?
*
Doubt it has anything to do with too many cards as OCBC still approved my application without me submitting proof of income. From my CCRIS report, the total credit facilities given to me by banks is substantial (more than 100X my monthly salary but of course they don't know my income since I did not give them any proof) and yet OCBC gave me CL higher than my HSBC Plat card. However, my CCRIS report do have a plus point - it states I have been holding UOB CC since 1991 (my first local bank card after I graduated). FYI, I don't have any CASA or FD with OCBC.

QUOTE(it.fusion @ Dec 21 2010, 02:21 PM)
Please let know best credit card out there with following that give rewards back / cash back / travel rewards etc with zero anual fee...

i am new to credit cards but need it quite urgently....appreciate your inputs here...thanks
*
well, decide what you want. You want cash back then OCBC Titanum, HLB Essential & Citibank Plat Cash BAck. You want travel then get RHB Travel or if fly with Air Asia get Citibank. You want points get AMEX or SCB.

If you just started work, my suggestion is apply for 2 cards from different banks in case one of them turn you.

well, for my case they happily closed my account when I requested without any questions and credited back RM50 GST which was charged.

can i do BT partially for amex cc ? how long does it take to approve ? thanks
*
you can do full or partial amount for BT. Which bank you want to BT to? For DA about a week payment made and MBB less than 14 days. Go read last few pages of BT thread.

QUOTE(persistence85 @ Dec 21 2010, 09:37 PM)
so which one is correct?
i mean at the time i apply at 5 different bank, CCRIS will also show which bank u re applying?
*
yes, CCRIS will show all approved and pending credit facilities in your name. So if applied to 5 different banks, after more than a week go check out your CCRIS report and you can see which banks are processing your application. The last time I checked my CCRIS, my EON bank was still pending and gave me a shocked when the CL stated was RM15K, but actual approved CL much higher.

QUOTE(staind @ Dec 21 2010, 09:46 PM)
I want to share my experience with MBB card as well since so many ppl sharing biggrin.gif . This event does not incurred any loss to me but I feel that their the way their system work does not offer any security to us.
I used my MBB CC to purchase a 2K DELL laptop for my gf. The purchase made under her name but paid using my card. That was the first time i made an online transaction. The purchase went off successfully and MBB did not call me to verify the transaction. A few days after receiving the laptop, I found that my card was blocked. So, I call their CS and was told that they blocked my card as they can't verified that I made the purchase. Reason given, they can't reach me through my cell but in actual, there was no call from them. Another few days later, I received a mail from them saying that my card was blocked due to unauthorized online transaction.

The thing here is that they blocked my card after the laptop had already been received and payment being charged to my card. Just imagine if someone misused my card.
*
yah kind of odd that they approved the payment and then only block the card. Few years back when I bought a laptop from Dell using AMEX, it took days to get it approved.

My application for OCBC Titanium MasterCard was rejected. I have not given up on it though. Will definitely reapply next year. This card is simply too good to let it pass by  biggrin.gif

*
If you really want the card badly, I recommend that you go to OCBC branch and pledge FD of RM5K to RM10K to get equivalent CL as anything more than that does not make sense since the card rebate is capped at RM50. Don't care about the 6 months cooling period but just apply for it.

I am now wondering if I should cut my CL limit for my OCBC card. The thing is I do get invitation by OCBC to some promotional event like ROLEX offer last month (which I later did drop by the shop and was told on that promotion day they gave additional 2% discount from the norm). Afraid if I cut down CL I'll will not be in their future invitation list for promotion events.

My experience of applying the OCBC branch only requires my existing credit card and nothing else. I walk in to the Masjid Jamek branch, in which, I think that's the HQ of OCBC Malaysia? The process of application takes up 5 minutes. After 3 weeks, the card was mailed to me. My income is merely RM3k before deductions, but well, they don't check for my pay slips. I have taken a joint-loan with OCBC too. But that makes me wonder if that helps.

I guess your loan with OCBC does in away helps your application. But there is one big difference between you and MilesAndMore which is that you have a job whereas MilesAndMore is unemployed (but got income and Premier Card notworthy.gif )

If there are too many pages, newbies or people needing answers coming here will get pissed off and won't read all the previous informative posts and just ask questions which have been answered many times.

Guys, Merry X'mas! Have a quick question to CIMB Direct Access card holders. The i.Pay Plan that gives installments to all retail purchases will expire on 31st Dec 2010. I'm a new card holder since July 2010, from your past experience, does this promotion will come again next year? Or this is its first and last time doing this? As far as I know they had once in 2009 too right? Please enlighten me.
*
MNet has your avatar and also the same Sign!

Guess you just have to wait a few days more to find out. CIMB have extended the Smart Plan and I don't see why they won't extend the i-plan since we have to pay 1% or more for the plan. Seriously, you should get another card and do BT where interest is 0%.

As for CL, call CS and ask.

wshoh: I did see the AMEX offer at Robinson but I bought a wallet that can hold 20 cards where the normal price was RM309 and after 70% discount and additional 10% discount the wallet cost less than RM85 only. There was another offer, spend RM200 and get RM20 voucher but can't remember if it was for members.

Zen : as long as you pay the minimum, your record would be clean.

mitodna: I think somewhere posted few days back on AMBank 0% offer. Hoping DA match this comes 1st Jan 2011.
