Blu-rays aren't supposed to make every picture look like Avatar. Also, what TV are you using?

I don't know the full details but I am suspecting that it's your unrealistic expectations that has ruined the Blu-ray experience for you. Inception and The Patriot look great on Blu-ray.

Grainy? hmmm...... not all firm is 100% clean, but not extreme grainy. How long distance you watch your Blu-ray?

HDMI cable all same unless the cable you get is something wrong.

Can you given the TV and BD model instead of just given brand.

That is not the one I want.

That one you list is combination of Planet Earth / Wild China / Galapagos / Ganges release on year 2008.

What I want is combination of Nature's great events / South pacific / Galapagos / Wild china release on year 2009.

Both is different pack.

Your experience is quite unusual. Blu ray quality is very good. A few questions:

1. What is the size of your TV?
2. How far away do you sit?
3. Did you adjust the sharpness setting on the TV? Tip: turn it off.
4. What TV mode do you use to watch movies?

Generally blu ray movies should not be grainy (unless the movie was filmed to be grainy, like the movie 300).

I don't think changing HDMI cable will help the grainy issue.

Got standard or normal mode? Dynamic seems over bright as everything is tune to maximum. (At least my Sony and Samsung is tune to maximum)

4 to 5 ft distance seems too near for 40inch. Your eye can handle it? With dynamic some more. Hmm...

But it still suppose clean. I only seen heavy dusk when standing infront TV.

Check the sharpness setting on the TV. Even if you didn't touch any setting, check what is the default setting for sharpness.

Ok you like Dynamic mode since it is brighter, but I think Dynamic mode tends to overboost the picture and make it look unnatural. Might be introducing the grain.

Can you go to Normal/Standard mode or Movie mode and just increase the brightness a bit? See if grain is visible there or not.
