using aquos full hd.
sony blu ray HT
somehow its quite grainy ...haiz...
do yhou think changing the stock HDMI cable given by sony will help?

Your experience is quite unusual. Blu ray quality is very good. A few questions:

1. What is the size of your TV?
2. How far away do you sit?
3. Did you adjust the sharpness setting on the TV? Tip: turn it off.
4. What TV mode do you use to watch movies?

Generally blu ray movies should not be grainy (unless the movie was filmed to be grainy, like the movie 300).

I don't think changing HDMI cable will help the grainy issue.

Size of the TV is 40inch.
Sharp Aquos model LC40L500MW
Sony Blu Ray HT E370

i sit about 4-5 feet away from the screen.

i din touch tany settings in the TV, lock stock barrel.

I used Dynamic, cause it looks brighter and the grain is very visible.

When i switch to Movie mode it looks very dark and dim le.....

Check the sharpness setting on the TV. Even if you didn't touch any setting, check what is the default setting for sharpness.

Ok you like Dynamic mode since it is brighter, but I think Dynamic mode tends to overboost the picture and make it look unnatural. Might be introducing the grain.

Can you go to Normal/Standard mode or Movie mode and just increase the brightness a bit? See if grain is visible there or not.

Another question: What's the diff between LPCM and lossless codec huh? Which do you use when u have options in your BD or it depends on whether you have 2.1,5.1 or 7.1?

LPCM is the uncompressed audio. This should have the best audio quality.

DTS-HD Master and Dolby TrueHD is compressed audio, but is lossless. So in theory the audio quality same as LPCM.
