QUOTE(staticxtreme @ Dec 25 2012, 03:39 PM) Hi guys hihi~ 2 questions 1) I bought benji's alfalfa hay. Inside the hay there's a lot of bugs like ladybugs can fly. Looks like flea.. Will it all fly to the rabbit and infect them 2) my rabbit not eating any of the hay.. My babies have tried hay from shops. The hay is brownish green (not fresh) and dry, right? But ever since i joined this group, I get my hay supply from a forumer here. (Initially I wanted mention the name but the first page say, no shop supply should be mentioned). Perhaps you can PM me if you want to know. The hay smells very fresh (as in greenish), and the moment you open the hay bag, bunnies will come running to you. Sorry if i sound very promo. I'm very excited to share good hay with you all here. HAHA.. Added on January 3, 2013, 12:28 pm QUOTE(carol274876 @ Nov 17 2012, 08:46 AM) Great news! It's close to a month since I've been fostering the bunny & these past few days somehow she is running around really fast, doing binkies & the rolling over seems to have been greatly reduced. Maybe the methycobal 500 ug which I have been giving her this past week helps. Hi CAROL!!! Omg you are so kind to carefully foster and nurture the sick bunny. I hope she's doing well now. I havent experienced any major disease with my babies (finger crossed please dont let them be sick). But i know it saddens to see them feeling unwell. Can see their expression thru the rabbits eyes.. You take good care of yourself too! This post has been edited by msxeroz: Jan 3 2013, 12:32 PM |

Hi all.
It has been years since i was active in this forum. Is Sangterap still active here? I have an emergency. My rabbit Layola broke her foot (one of her rear, inner toe) when she was struggling hard in my arms. No wound, no cut, but i can feel the broken part clearly and it makes 'krakk krakk' sound when i touched. I sent her to vet here, the vet can only bandage the leg and prescribed streroid (prednisone) as the pain relief. Prednisone can thinning the intestine lining and cause internal bleeding. My biggest problem and concern in now Layola has stop eating and drinking. I contacted other vets in Penang, but most of them has no safe anesthetic, analgesic (pain reliever) and even safe antibiotics for bunnies. I'm thinking of taking her to Hillpark Vet in Kota Kemuning. I actually was planning to go there after CNY to take my other bunny, Mickybell for teeth trimming (burring & polish under anesthetic and using special burring tool. Mickybell has long teeth issue). I visit Hillpark Vet every 3-4 months to get my bunnies dental trimming, neutering and taking my female cats for spaying. They are the only vet i trust with those surgeries. Other than Hillpark, can anyone recommend a rabbit savvy vet that u guys go for emergency/things that need surgery? Anyone went to Healing Rooms Subang. They are one of the best vets for cats and dogs and they have handled so many serious and emergency case. |

Hello everyone. Not sure if this is right place to ask but where's the best place to send rabbit for grooming. Got no time to groom own rabbit because too busy with school and stuff. Thanks to any helpers.

Hi all! ((Have some questions to ask as a newbie rabbit owner ^^))
I'd like to introduce my Lionhead bought in September 2012 at Pets Wonderland IOI... when I bought "him" at 4 months, I was told "he" was male... yesterday just found out he's actually a she~ Old name: Rovsky (previously wanted "him" to grow up to be a Russian gangster New name: Kiki ![]() With my cat, Ashvy: ![]() Litter tray and lunch ball: ![]() His cage is pretty bare atm, I know! I'm waiting for my kitchen renovation to finish this week, then can give her a nice pretty tile to rest her poor bunny feet on. She chewed through all the wired mats I've put down before, feisty this one! Anyway, I actually have something to ask masters... Ever since I bought her I've been wondering if she is purebreed, and if she is single- or double- maned? Since she's the first pet I ever actually bought, so I'd like to know if I spent my money wisely. I think she's double-maned at least, since she seems to have the characteristic 'skirting'. More questions: 1) Should I trim her fur myself? I brush regularly but it's still pretty long. She always accidentally chews on her fur while eating! If I send to a shop, how much should I expect to pay? 2) If I decide to spay her, should there be anything I need to prepare before or after surgery? 3) Should I get her a friend? And if so, any reliable breeders where can I get another Lionhead like her, preferably another color? I've always only had cats before, so I'm pretty much a newbie at rabbit-rearing. Hope that masters can give lots of advice~ P/S: If you're worried about how she's getting along my cats (I have 3), I'd say swimmingly! Ashvy loves to hang about her cage, sniffing her and bumping noses with her whenever she's in my room. My other 2 cats lost interest in her about 2 months after she initially arrived |

Hi Mizu,
Welcome to the wonderful rabbit hobby. You are right about the cage being bare, you can have everything but the most important is to add a wire mesh at the bottom for the comfort of Kiki's feet. Regarding purebreed or not you really cannot tell unless the rabbit comes with a pedigree document that list 3 generations of lionhead. Most probably Kiki is a hybrid rabbit with the mane gene. 1) Should I trim her fur myself? I brush regularly but it's still pretty long. She always accidentally chews on her fur while eating! If I send to a shop, how much should I expect to pay? for "long" fur breed like Kiki, it is advisable to brush her fur regularly to reduce tangles that can be painful and it will also help reduce the ingestion of fur. Up to you to clip the fur yourself. Most owners enjoy DIY because it is a form of bonding session with the rabbit. 2) If I decide to spay her, should there be anything I need to prepare before or after surgery? Spaying can be done after 6 months of age. In this case Kiki does not come with a pedigree that states the actual birthdate so you have to estimate her age. Maybe waiting at least 4 months from now before deciding to spay. There are only a handful of vets that are good with spaying. I highly recommend Valley Pet Veterinary (Sg. Long) or HillPark (Kota Kemuning). Very high success rate for spaying. Please refer to this page for address - http://truluvrabbitry.com/6-basic-care-for-beginners/ 3) Should I get her a friend? And if so, any reliable breeders where can I get another Lionhead like her, preferably another color? You seemed to prefer having rabbits as pets, it is good to have a pair and the best pairing is a neutered buck and an intact doe. Even better if both are sterilized so that the buck does not harass the doe and the doe will have better temperament. But of course it all depends very much on the individual rabbits. Hope this helps. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

Thank you for the tips sangterap!
I just added some tiles from my renovation to the cage so half of it is now tiled and the other half is the litter tray. I'm very scared to put in a wire mesh as I did put in one before and she chewed a big hole right in the middle And yes, I suppose she's not purebreed, what was I expecting I'm getting a buck for her soon, will keep them separated until I can neuter the buck. I'm going to aim for having both of them neutered/spayed as I did with my cats but need to get the moolah first! If u use tissue / tissue box within 24hours all that has left is shredded papers. Haha.. I tried using ice cream Tupperware as hay tray, ended up become shredded plastics.
