technip hires fresh grads..

but cgpa requested currently is 3.5..  tongue.gif
Not really la, 3.5 and first class degree only applicable for Subsea Graduate Engineer. I already talked with Technip HR.

For other positions, above 3.0 still acceptable....

I am quite worry about my internship application. Sent to the big guns and also smaller ones(clients and consultants) but no reply from any yet.

Also I want to gain as much exposure as possible in OnG field, not just doing paperwork in the office.
*
Don't wait for them to answer you, but try calling them after 1 week you submit your application.

Good Luck

Yeap I will give them a call soon. The anxiety is killing me.  sad.gif

Also I wonder why OnG companies do not respond quickly to this type of application. Unlike those semi cons, manufacturing, automobil and etc companies, within a couple of days they will either reply you or give you a call straight.
*
Why?

Because they received quiet a big number of applications compare to other industry.
For a big comp, they received around hundred to thousand of application for internship only..Based on chatting with HR Guys..

Some small o&g consultant paid big, even bigger than what operators offer.
A very good place if you want to learn and working with different discipline. Dont have a structured
training method though. Also you will miss the operation side of work.
*
Yup, one of my lead engineer got 50k per month..around RM300 per hour..

u should try sub con if u think ur result not pretty, go for small company then work it up.. alot of ppl i've heard from is they start at those sub-con, then later they joined petronas or shell later on.. Easier because after u work, ppl look at ur job experience, rather than toilet paper cert smile.gif
*
Agree with that Ben..like me, still with local oil & gas consultant right now. Try to get as much knowledge as i can before fly to other big brother..hehe

2) The interviewer ask about relationship with other ppl, works in a team and about time management
3) The interviewer ask about case study, he give 4, choose one (u should jot down the case studies)

Will be sharing my experience with u guys soon :-)

guys, how many divided sectors are there in the oil and gas industry ?

like for example, you have consultant under oil and gas and under consultant you have engineering ?

and under engineering you have piping, elecrtical and etc.

just want to know where it all stands in the hierarchy or like a chart for oil and gas.

any link to websites that i can futher study on this ?

thanks smile.gif

Normally we have

- O&G Operators(Client) like Petronas, Shell, CPOC, KPOC, Newfield, Murphy (Who owns the oil rig)

- O&G consultants like Technip, Ranhill Worley, MMCOG, RNZ, Mustang, Aker (who done the engineering and design for client)

- Drilling companies like Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, Transocean

- Fabrication Yard like MMHE, Ramunia, Sime Darby Engineering, Boustead (who fabricate the platform)

- Services companies (who done the commissioning, start-up, maintenance and so on)

- Vendors (who supply the equipments)

The main reason bcoz of the salary scheme didn't so competitive if compare with others. But starting this month and next year, they will revise and adjust the salary scheme..dont worry about that.. :-)

Yaaa... Without us electrical, you guys can't have 24VDC supplies. LOL~

Added on January 9, 2012, 5:40 pmBut I would say, electrical pretty much the easiest and most straight-forward branch. Those in mechanical, structure, process, instrumentation - respect u guys.

Added on January 9, 2012, 5:43 pmBTW, tips to fresh grads. Try to consider getting into consultant firms like Aker, Technip, Ranhill, RNZ, MMC, DPS and a few more. They pay you quite small at first - but after 3-5 years, you'll get more.

You can also look into fabrication yards like Kencana & MMHE too.
*
Agree with you Nor..

Currently i'm with one of that consultants..and happy with the working environment and also the knowledge/experience i got... biggrin.gif

ETAP for relay coordination and other things. I do know how to design - cable sizing, protection and etc. But I dont know how to do relay coordination. I want to do it just to learn it. If you already in consulting firm, your company prolly gonna send u for the course. Which firm u are working with, btw? Or just tell where ur office is. I can tell from there. Hehehe.
*
Oh ok, currently i'm using the EDSA/PALADIN software for Power Flow,Motor Starting and Short Circuit analysis. Without attend any training and course, it took me more than 1 month just to learn and familiar with this software..

But i still didn't have the opportunity to run the relay coordination by using this software. But i know how to do it manually... biggrin.gif

My office near to Ampang Park..tokio marine
