QUOTE(robab @ Jan 24 2013, 05:04 PM) Hi all, Hahaha..I would like to ask whether anyone got 'kaki' to enter KPMG. I was never called eventhough I already submitted my resume on their website. I was also told that recruitment in KP is not like any other big4 as it depends on the managers' need then the HR will contact you. I was in medium firm before but now in commercial doing AP. I dont think I enjoy doing this routine job so would like to continue doing audit. But KP never call me...huwaaaaaa.. position applied?

QUOTE(sherlene @ Jan 30 2013, 03:26 PM) They offer me RM2.7k with my degree as ACCA results are yet to be announced.. If I passed the two papers then will be 2850.. I thought in labour law, annual leave should be 16days? And during probation period can I take leave? Maybe unpaid? I'm going on vacation in the last week of march and I have to apply one week of leave.. I'll inform the HR dept when I send them the forms through email later.. no labour law says min leave is 10 days...

QUOTE(macystar @ Feb 5 2013, 04:38 PM) Hello want to ask how long does it take for big 4 to reply if they accept you? or when they reject you will they email u? thx no, from my experience, they seldom email you when u get rejected. Maybe just 20% chance u get rejection email, otherwise its no news meaning automatically rejected...

QUOTE(wen1129 @ Feb 23 2013, 12:10 AM) Hi, Happy Chinese New Year! I am searching for an entry-level position in Big 4. I have one paper left for ACCA. I worked in a small audit firm by public transport before taking ACCA. May I know is it a must for auditors to drive to work? May anyone give some suggestions on answering these following interview questions, please? 1. Give me some examples of teamwork in your previous job. 2. Did you face office politic issues with your previous supervisor? Thank you in advance. its not a must to drive, especially for lower level staff as snr will be the one who drives the team to client's office. as for ur interview question, can't help much, not too experience in interviews.

QUOTE(MaxReddevil @ Mar 5 2013, 11:51 PM) I have been working in a mid tier firm doing tax for nearly 5 months, should I start applying for big4? well it depends on your priority I guess... Some people might prefer a slightly lesser stress environment to work in such as mid tier, others might pursue bigger exposure and willing to accept the stress of working in big4.

QUOTE(stupid434 @ Mar 9 2013, 10:53 PM) Hey guys, I need help. I get an offer from Singapore small to mid firm(ACCA approved learning employer, silver level) with 15 months bond and if I want him to be my mentor, then the contract will be 2 years. And, yesterday i received an email from KPMG malaysia n asked me to do the online assessment. So should I take the offer or take the risk to gamble KPMG position? What i am worried is if i rejected the Sg offer, it will be very difficult for me to find an audit job in sg bcos they are tightening their foreigner headcount now. Anyone can give me advise? may I know the name of the firm? imho i'd say no since the sg firm is just silver, I'd only go if its gold or platinum and well known. I remember I even rejected an interview from a gold/platinum firm in sg just bcuz I never heard of the firm's name b4(after consulting with ppl working in sg, they also say its quite unknown)

QUOTE(stupid434 @ Mar 9 2013, 11:00 PM) PM u the name. I tried all the gold n platinum level firm in SG but totally no reply. Only GT replied me n asked me whether i am Singaporean or PR. never heard of such name too, from googling, External auditing doesn't seem to be their core competence(assuming u're planning to join audit and assurance). but then again, if it's not a hassle for u to head over to sg(assuming cost and time of travelling there is not a matter), u can go for both the interviews from Sg firm as well as KPMG M'sia.

Thats y i dont know whether should i want to gamble for this time my decision if I'm in ur position will depend on how much information I can google and enquire about the Sg firm's reputation, status, and size.

QUOTE(YH90 @ Apr 20 2013, 12:11 AM) If I'm not mistaken, Year 2 Associates will be earning the same pay, regardless of whether you have ACCA qualification or not. So degree employees will see a higher increment of about 250-300 while ACCA grads only get around 150 increment (this excludes the yearly increment of course). Note that Year 2 Associate is a PROGRESSION, NOT a promotion. so year 2 associate earn about 3.1 ~ 3.2K regardless ACCA or degree? Did I get ur facts wrong? Anyway since u say its a progression instead of promotion, does that mean if I would wanna enter as experience hire, I cannot apply to enter as year 2 associate? have to apply as year 1 fresh grad entry level associate?

Under ACCA's approved employers list, does it mean have to work directly under that company?
Eg, under Sime Darby there's alot of subsidiaries in different industries, does working under one of them qualify as working under an platinum rated approved employer?

Given choice between Delloite and BDO in the audit field, which is more preferable? Based on market cap, BDO audit is higher than Delloite. Not sure about this one but, my own research and enquiries states that BDO audit working culture is better than Delloite. However, BDO isn't officially a Big4. And the so called "Big5" actually just a made up thing and not officially recognised by others such as commercial industries. Yes I do know this is Big4 thread and BDO ain't one of them, but I really need and advice on deciding between the two.. This post has been edited by shirley_andy: May 7 2013, 07:19 PM

Anyone can explain what's the job scope of Fraud Investigation and Disputes Services(FIDS)? And is this a recommended field to get good exposure?

QUOTE(eyhc89 @ Jun 4 2013, 08:02 AM) well i've worked for 1 year and 3 months. Not sure if that's new hire to you. And I'm in a different region, so things can be a little different here. Not many jobs during off-peak, almost unscheduled for like 4 months (some jobs here and there). You can't be enjoying shaking legs for 4 months can you? Shaking legs can only last you that long until boredom and eventually, frustration kicks in. wow lucky you...

just curious, normally the bigger the audit firm the higher the stress right?
why most of the stress stories come from Deloitte? Isn't Deloitte audit is smallest among all 4, might even be 5th if include another one?
