For the back focus photo, are you using single point or auto area point? It looks like a method problem instead.

I was using single point actually, never use auto area..i took around 500+ pictures dat day, around 100+ were backfocused..at one point, i took the same pic of a person several times and all of them (around 4-5 times) were backfocused..that made me realized sumthing was wrong and then i checked all the pics i took dat day and i found out the prob.. didnt realized it at fisrt coz not so obvious on the camera's lcd
Haha I agree, more sharpness need to spend more i guess  tongue.gif  maybe I will try 35mm f/2 in the near future and see how do i like it..
*
But the sample you showed is very obvious focused on the background instead of your subject.

I think at f/1.4, even stand on same row oso hard to get all sharp in focus, need not to say longer focal length like 85mm

Probably the only 2 person pic I can find in my flickr at the moment, D90 85mm at f/2.

for long storage, i will take it out... but nowadays, i pratically shoot at least every 1 week, so i dont see any necessity to take it out..

while the battery drains issue, how long have the battery been used? u sure the switch is off (stupid question though tongue.gif)?? to make sure it's not the lens causing it (which i seriously doubt) try to take out the lens and leave the battery inside and see if it still drains the battery...
*
I usually remove my battery when not in use. But sometimes I leave them in if I were to use it soon.

long time not posting anything in here... tired to read all the post b4..

btw, how to make the lens focus on part that we want (technically)?
*
Use single point to focus.

If you know how to use single point, half press then recompose then I think you won't be asking this question actually.

Alamak, there's no such thing "not as good". As long your technique is right, the only thing limiting you is your lens and body accuracy.

Square thing? Are you referring to the active AF point you're using with single point?

owh.. its called active AF point ah...

what i think is the square that we can move with the multi direction button are the metering selection point.. and the blinking red line are the focus point? is that correct? if it is so, then how can we want to focus on certain part? example we want to focus the eyes, do we need to reposition ourself or ?
*
From your reply, I think you're kinda confused with the AF system. You can start off by reading the manual first.

Basically the points highlighted with a box, is the focus point. Then again, you were using single point all the while and if you did not focus and recompose then all OOF lo?

QUOTE(Kent3888 @ Dec 22 2010, 11:29 AM)
I tested mine on the ruler, no misfocus issue  tongue.gif I will test properly when I free on a chart n a pod  icon_question.gif  God bless...

Dats y i felt sumthing is very wrong with my lens..never had such problems with my other lenses..in the viewfinder it appeared to be OK too..

Btw luv your bikini pool shot..lovely color tone..
*
I think you might have focused on the background instead of the subject. Situation might be, your lens have not completed focusing then you already recomposed. Then when you recompose it sort of track the new point ended up focusing at the background. Just a hypothesis.

Thank you smile.gif Spend 1 week with them during the finals here in Melaka. Did a few photoshoots too tongue.gif.

If after you recompose, the distance between you and your subject changes, your pic definitely will have wrong focus. Unless if you use AF-C which continuously hunts the focus.
*
This is what I expected earlier, but so far I have no issue using center AF then recompose on my 85mm f/1.4G.

Off topic.. Just wanna share with u guys.. I just bought sb700 and 50mm f/.4G at foto selangor. Both rm1,050 and rm1,800 respectively. Thats the max of my bargaining power. Really happy with the treatment and the way they serve me. But my hand shake really bad when paying for those items. LOL

This is my first flashstick.. Cant wait to learn from u guys..  smile.gif
*
Congratulations on your purchase! I think that combo is going to serve you well smile.gif

Do read up more about flash photography, I generally avoid using flash because it ain't easy to control tongue.gif.

Make sure when you turn it on it prompts for date. That shows it is turned on the first time, or else you need to check for shutter count already. Then check for exterior condition and then check for focusing.
