If you are good in bargain, Nikon P300 is your choice. The image quality is good and you can have full manual control (just in case you find that photography is fun and starting to learn). Some shops are selling at RM1000+ but I did find some selling at RM900+. But make sure they are genuine.

However, the lens can't zoom into very far away subject as it's not designed for that.

I only had a little time to play with my friend's Fujifilm's polaroid, as there is no way to "try and play" the camera without wasting the films. So no comments, sorry bro.

You should be able to get a 2nd hand D90 but not sure whether it has a lens or not. Some are selling only with body.

Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR camera
Budget : RM2500 MAX less is better
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Nikon
Type of photography u want to do : Landscape and Macro Shots
Any specific models in mind? : D90(second hand) or D5100 New

I'm in a loop regarding these 2 models. Some of my friends recommend the D90 some D5100. Actually I'm more inclined towards the D90 as they average out around Rm2k for a 2nd hand kit. The kit lens is good 18-105mm and it comes the AF motor.

While the D5100 is a newer model, HD video recording, and flippable LCD, but no AF motor. I'm concerned about picture quality and also the lens compatibility. I'm afraid that it would be expensive to buy lens with build in AF. hmm.gif

Lens that i'm planning to get, Wide Angle, and macro lens.

Personally i'm more inclined towards the D90 but is the D5100 a better choice?

Classic question of New vs Old. unsure.gif

Get the D90 or you will still thinking of upgrading after you get the D5100.

If you are only comparing both Nikon 1 and Sony NEX, I would say that NEX is way better in image quality and MUCH cheaper. It worth every bucks. Nikon 1 will only give you "fast AF" which I believe it's not a very important element. If you are concerned about the AF speed, get DSLR instead. Nikon 1's image quality will not withstand NEX's quality AT ALL. And Nikon 1 is just way too overpriced.

So assuming that i'm getting a second hand D90, what should i check for? How much shutter count is considered as "low" and worth it to buy? :thanks:

To be honest, shutter count is just a guideline and it doesn't estimate the left lifespan very accurately. If the shutter count is less than 1000, then it should be very new. But expect 10k and above to be normal.

Checking the appearance is also very basic but yet important thing to do so that you know whether it had been dropped or not.

Yea I also thought it's click and print only. But my friend told me apparently there is one type like hybrid with digital camera.. So you can actually view the photos like a digital camera and choose which to print out as polaroid.. hmm.gif

hmm, I'm not sure on the availability of such camera. I only know 2 types; polaroid & digital lomo camera-

perhaps you can head to this lomography shop and scout for the item with such function.

Im planning to get polaroid camera, which one in good? is polariod Z340 good? tongue.gif
If I left for a long period,it will work or need regular maintenance? or any sideeffect?  sad.gif
can zoom or not?  hmm.gif
does it film have expiration date?

icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif

from what those lomography people told me, polaroid & film camera do not need much maintenance wink.gif
all films eventually possess expiry date, usually for years. at least a year or two. it is stated.

for lomography, photographer usually prefer expired film because it will enhance the lomo-feel of the picture wink.gif
just my 2cents knowledge of film/dummy camera.
