my social visit pass will expire in less den 10 days... any1 know how long is the cooling period needed before i can come in to singapore again?
*
Sorry if I do not fully understand your situation. If you have a EP, Student pass pending approval and your "white card" is expiring soon, you can go to ICA level 4 (mind you, a lot of people there) to apply for "extention". If they approve, you may get another 30 days stay.

Added on February 24, 2011, 8:56 pmHave anybody applied visas in SG for travel to US from the US Embassy in Singapore?
What if your flight is from Msia to US, not from SG to US? Can u still apply visa is SG?
*
can, the visa is for you to "enter" USA when landed in US regardless where you came from.

OMV= Open market value?
u mean OMV of the 10yr old car will stay the same per OMV of a new car?
I think u meant price of the new honda car stays the same right?
*
Do you have the login to onemotoring.com? I think there is a website that list all particular of your car. Your Coe and omv value are stated there. Iirc there is a calculator to show how much you get when you scrap your car at any given time.

guys, it is sufficient to survive in Singapore with SGD 1600?
got an offer from an audit firm.
*
depend on how many person you have to support and your other commitment.

If your objective is to get a starting point in SG before you move on to bigger target then it is ok to aim for "survival" first, else one can always survive in malaysia while spending time with family members.

when I was single and using just a pager, I earn less than you yet able to send home rm1k and have a few saving plan. It is very easy to spend money in SG so you have to manage your expenses.

seantang: duck tour route is just nice as compare to the longer hippo route. It highlight special landmarks of SG and include a view to the CBD area as well. Buy this and you have a few extra plan B activities http://www.ducktours.com.sg/sp.php There is a ferrari tour starting from the flyer as well, not too sure about its route.

The dempsey hill have a few art gallery if they like art pieces.

Nokia Convert: 18/3 I have seminar to attend. Let me know the next time you go. I am interested.

Thanks for all your information. I have no choice but need to stay in JB because my wife she is working in JB and my babe is there too...for sure cant afford if moving the whole family to SG. Worst is I dont have bike license, if i wanna drive a car from JB to NUS...is it much worst??? icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif

smile.gif Don't miss your family time, they need you to be there. Things will get better once you start working.

Try talking to bas kilang/sekolah operator that goes to nearby science park for a special deal (may be part time driver assistance in return for the free ride) or check if you can take the KTM service before it close. With wife and baby, you should really consider the risk of riding a bike. Morning traffic rush near NUS is bad, you need to go early.

The last time I went for such IT show was years ago. Buy online has more options and can compare prices easily. Price almost same as list Price and some vendor use this opportunity to clear old stock. IMO the only reason to go such fair is the last minute clearance sales but you have to endure the heat.

Some people llike me dont have to do any tax filing as our sole income is from a company that send all our info to Iras. We still can log on to update the tax rebate if needed. Else the tax will be deducted from giro. No action from us at all.

Noted from the list and saw some interesting deductible to ask:

1.  Expenses for public transport to work. I suppose its only applicable to taking taxi? Thos taking mrt/bus and pay by ezlink would not have proper receipt iguess.

2.  Professional fees  -> Do you need to have the original receipt? Cos mine only sent an email confirmation of my payment.

3.  Tax rebate. I only saw for YA2009 and YA2011. How bout YA2010?

4.  Deductions for life insurance premium. If i pay in RM, what rate do u use to convert?

Would appreciate if you can share your experiences. notworthy.gif

1) Seantang had answered.

2) Online key-in do not need any document but you keed the email in case they call you to provide proof. normally they don't call.

3) SG Gov may give some tax rebate at certain time, it is like a bonus from time to time.

4) Use the average rate at the time you login. Iirc there is a cap... S$2000 per year. Do you have insurance here? Consider one if you intend to work here for long term and you have dependant, especially the medical/hostipal type. Company group insurance usually have a better deal. Check with your HR.

I thot i saw a reply saying even insurance brought from Malaysia can be deducted as well?
i think i saw from the website as well, as long as the branch of the insurance company is located in SG.
Do correct me if im wrong
*
It is not about tax rebate. If any serious things happen and you have to stay in local hospital for some time, your existing MY insurance may not be enough to cover all your expenses. If you can get a good deal from your company group insurance then it helps to complement your existing insurance policy. At least you have a policy that pays SGD, that's my point

If you already have SG insurance policies then I wont advice getting another MY insurance policy base on current exchange rate.

Wasn't the CPF ceiling $4500 per month, and from this year $5000 per month?
*
Ordinary wage limit is $4500 or $6000 if you are on pension scheme. Then you have the additional wage component like your bonus etc cap at $76500 - total ordinary wage.

So even if a person salary is $1000 but bonus $60000 he still taxable for $72000.

That's what used to be before they increase the ordinary wage limit.
