i know they can work illegally, but still, i won't be advising them to work without permit because there are many cases where the employer abusing the worker beacuse he don't have a permit.
*
You dont need have a valid permit to be bullied by your employer. Employers are smart enough to know that some employees (especially those from "other" countries) have to pay agents to get a job in singapore and since they have to pay of their debts, they cant simply change jobs and this gives the employer a carte blanche to screw with the person as much as he/she wants.

You just dont know the underbelly of the unscrupulous singaporean employer which i have met, mainly sub-contractors who treat their workers little more then their personal b****.

yeah, maybe u are right. good that i can learn something from you bout unscrupulous singapore employer.

Goto tuas side and see at the street side workshops or fabrication areas and you can see this happening daily. You can get firsthand experience just from seeing the employee and employer have a conversation in public.

Like in las vegas, whatever happens in tuas, stays in tuas.

Maids also suffer the same fate. Working for little pay with a typical singaporean. They want value or in order words to stretch their dollar, they want 2 pay 1 dollar but get 2 dollars worth in return.

Thats why u see maids only get 1 day off in a month and wash their owners car everyday from 7am.

I think maids in Malaysia have no off day?
More work to do because house compound is bigger tongue.gif
Think back, pity my maid last time.
*
The maid in malaysia has a valid reason to work whole day since the are she need to clean is bigger.

How long does it take to clean a typical hdb or condo flat anyway? and does it warrant the maid to work in 1000++ square feet area from 6am to 11pm?

Best of all some people actually share a maid, 2 households in the same condo share one maid to clean both of the condo apartments since the 2 families are related. And they are damn proud that they found ways to be both efficient and cut cost down.

Lol.
Maid sharing between household. Is it allowed? Can save a lot! 1 family save a maid's room and probably can be rented out at $400 - 500 to cover the monthly cost of maid!
Side note, very pek cek I always never get to eat the refreshment after most of the AGM cause it will be all wallop by uncles and aunties whose daily job is to attend shareholders meetings with minimal shareholdings for the food.
*
No, your not allowed to "share" maids. Since its supposed to be 1 maid per household. But a few families flout the rules since their proud to be "kaisu".

Btw, this doesnt just apply to singaporeans, malaysian PR's do this as well since they have to keep up with their southern neighbors. Like they say monkey see, monkey do.

With agent,
You tend to pay 1/2 of ur monthly rental to them, but they can guarantee you that the house owner can't raise the rental price.

No they cant guarantee that, i have met houseowners who will raise the rental rate arbitrarily with the excuse that they they didnt expect you to use alot of electricity or do alot of washing. Plus the houseowner will "use" the agent to convince you to let the house owner raise the rental.

as u say try to convince since u hav the tenancy agreement normally valid for 1y u can jus refuse to pay.usually many ppl dont wanna get into the hassle n jus pay them off which normally is 20-50 dollars xtra

wifout the agent u can be kicked out of the place anytime + make sure the rooms/units u rent are approved HDB units. some owners tend to rent out non approved ones in the end is the tenants who suffer
*
Most of the houses ive toured are non-approved. But they still have a tenancy agreement as a formality. It isnt a legally binding tenancy agreement.

i thought there is a contract to honour ?

hmm.gif

i sign a contract with the house owner, stating clearly the rental for whole year ...
*
Thats if your owner is an honorable person. A quality that is hard to come by these days. They cite events beyond their control like market prices and PUB increases to justify the nullification of the contract. But this is usually in regards to PUB, so far i have not heard of an owner arbitrarily increasing the rent within the contract period due to sharp rise in the property market.

Thats why signing a contract is just a formality since enforcement of the contract is sketchy at best.

Hey, is it illegal to download video via real media player in Singapore?
*
People still download video?

I though the way forward now is just to stream the video. Singapore with its large community of chinese ppl flock to PPS, the destroyer of bandwidth.

Malaysians now being replaced by china counterparts, cheaper and more obedient.

Why get a malaysian when you can get a china person to do the same job for less money and less hassle.

24th Dec is like super-duper-peak period. really can't choose a worst time to cross the causeway. I also initially planned to go back on 24th but after much consideration, changed the plan to 22nd, at least still can countdown to Xmas in KL  rclxms.gif

nola, i just curious why he lower his salary to that low since he got good qualification and a long working experience.
btw, will be going back to KL today, hopefully when i go Larkin later around 4pm still got bus tickets to go back.
*
Yeah, it is very low. I had a previous colleague with only 8 years of exp (not in sales but engineering) and he's living the expat lifestyle and being paid 5 figure salary in USD. It depends on whether you can get a decent job.

may i noe wats the rental rate for a single/double room of a flat thr?
*
Single room apartment around 1200++ dependin on area.

But the general rule is its gonna be expensive.

Now with the G increasing electrical tariffs and the rising cost of food. Dont be surprised if unscrupulous home owners increase rental prices, actually it should come as 2nd nature to them.
