please get keane fast! carroll might out for 1 month. oh no!

yup..i agree..Keane is still a good player even though he is aging..right now, our short term priorities is more important than long term..that is to stay in the Premier League..getting Keane in and playing him up front with Carroll would give us something different..

loh bro..my post was intended for u or anyone specifically..my post is just a general thing what a proper football fan should be like..i used NUFC and Shola Ameobi just to point out my reasons..but it was not intended for u or anyone specific k.. smile.gif

Apparently Alan Pardew played down the rumours of Keane coming on loan..but he confirmed Hatem Ben Arfa was close to signing permanently..

As I said, the club should be focusing on the short term goal which is survival in the Premier League..just get Keane in on loan or permanently..yes..his wages might be a burden in the future but that could be solved later..maybe by offloading some player on big wages in the summer rite? For me, we need the best possible squad going into the 2nd part of the season..if Keane can provide goals we need, then get him...

i dont get the anger at the subs..seriously guys..why are u all sooo worked up? we won..3 points..crucial away win..Put it simply as this..

Routledge for Lovenkrands - so that we revert to a 4-5-1 formation..

Best for Ameobi - This was Ameobi's 1st match back from injury..and without Carroll, we need him for the West Ham match on Wednesday (which I think a lot of us here have forgotten) and also put Best in the shop window maybe

Smith for Nolan - Same reason..and because our primary goal at the end of the match was to hold on to the win..another goal would have been a bonus, so putting on Smith into midfield was understandable...

Anyways, Ameobi scored the winning goal, regardless of how easy the goal was and its fair to say that we should not slack on our own players even before they start the match so well done Shola..Jonas was working running like a horse today..it was like watching the old Jonas again..very glad to see that..

And I was really feeling a bit more comfortable seeing Harper back in goal..no disrespect to Krul but u could see how Harper communicated with his defenders, organise them..and there were no hesitations between him and the defenders..a well deserved clean sheet for Harper..

Great performance..hope we can keep it up against in-form West Ham at SJP on Wednesday night..

HOWAY THE LADS!!!

Yup..i could really imagine Bentley in our team..but I was just thinking..what does Bentley has that Ryan Taylor does not..? Okey..I think Bentley does score more goals and maybe he is a bit faster but other than that? I think Taylor was really unlucky to pick up an injury at a time when we needed him (Barton's suspension) but I hope if we do get Bentley, dont offload Ryan Taylor..coz one thing he can do that Bentley cant is play right back and we dont have any cover for Simpson should he get injured or suspended..

Priority must be to get a striker that can not only play with Carroll but also play without him meaning can score without needing Carroll's assists..and I really hope we get a left back coz i fear for Enrique if he gets injured.. ohmy.gif

BTW, I wouldnt want SWP..no offence to the earlier post but I would say he is just as bad in crossing the ball as Routledge is..honestly, I think Routledge is on par with SWP..England dont start with SWP coz his crossing is atrocious..individually he is a great player but crossing? Hmm.. shakehead.gif

I really hope Pardew opens his eyes and see Stephen Ireland is having a bad time at Villa..imaginene our midfield:

Jonas------Tiote-------Nolan--------Ireland-------Barton..
drool.gif
That would be one helluva midfield..

aaaa..my bad..pity Perch i forgot him.. tongue.gif

ybe Left back is a position hard to be filled in by any player..yes maybe there are a lot of left back out there but might be too good hence too expensive..Wayne Bridge is available but u gotta look at what he is earning at Man City..so money is an obstacle for left back..maybe try get a player on loan like Van Aanholt from Chelsea again..he was pretty good stepping in for Enrique last season..

Tiote needs to realise quickly that he is playing in the Premier League and not the Eredivise anymore..he cant turn or hold onto the ball for too long or ur gonna be hunted down by the opponents..

I admit, his turning is very pleasing on the eye..sometimes brilliant but he needs to cut down on it..I said it before his error against Blackburn that cost us a goal..anyone remember? He tried dribbling out of the penalty area instead of blasting the ball away..

I did realise that he cut down on his dribbling and turning after that error..but recently he started doing it again..no doubt about it, he is good at it..just hope it does not cost us in the future..

Tiote should be like Viera was at Arsenal..tackle, win the ball, and pass or clear it..and a bit of dribbling and turning..and he would be a perfect player.. smile.gif

BTW..he should stop his acting too..very funny..he wants to be like Steven Taylor..ball hits hands and acts as if it hurt his body..clever and funny..haha laugh.gif

QUOTE(arcaloveher @ Jan 5 2011, 01:14 PM)
If Carroll is sold, that WOULD be the last straw for all the fans

When will Ashley learn that we will NEVER be successful with players who are in the twilight of their career?
Owen? Butt? Viduka? Smith?Cacapa? Geremi? Just to name a few
IMO, he is doing the right thing currently with his 'buying players under 26' policy and potentially selling them, we dont need players who have pass their prime, no matter how good they were previously

I think Ashley is not daft enough to sell Carroll when he is our main scoring machine currently and moreover he is a Geordie
No doubt Carroll might leave us one day, but for a measly £20m? £12m and players like Bentley and Keane?

Hell no
*
To be fair to Ashley, Owen, Butt, Viduka, Smith and Geremi were not signed by him..yeah maybe Smith and Geremi came in under his administration but they were Big Fat Sam's signings and Ashley came in to oversee what Sam had already done to get those players..so I think Ashley is true to his policy of buying and nurturing young players instead of paying for already made stars..we have had less big name stars who were past their sell by date since Ashley took over so I do support his policy of getting up and coming stars..

The only reaon i think we are linked with Keane is that Pardew wants to pair him with Carroll..with Bentley providing the ammunition for both of them..if we werent looking for a striker to play with Carroll, I dont see Keane as being on our wishlist at all..

However, due to his 'supposed' connection with Spurs, I cant shake off the feeling that Ashley has a grudge against Newcastle since buying us and would do anything to destroy us and if possible help Spurs to greater heights..i just might be cynical but it could also be true..

With that said though, I am really getting annoyed with Spurs..not only are they trying to get players off us, they also seem to be in the race with any players that we try to sign..it is their right to do anything but I just dont like their attitude..go and sign Beckham and sell shirts..dont bother coming in for Carroll..he's not for sale..!!!

but one point I do hope is not lost on us fans is what is Carroll's standing on all this..? Does he really want to go to them? He was only given the num 9 shirt this season and only this season has he been playing really well in the Premier League..does he want to betray the trust put on him by Chris Hughton and all the other Geordies in Newcastle? Carroll might get Champions League football and maybe even be with a team fighting for the title but to leave his hometown club would be a travesty..he would leave the num 9 shirt just like Andy Cole did back in 1995..and see how he was greeted by Newcastle fans everytime he returned to SJP..at least Cole wasnt a Geordie..maybe Carroll can leave but not now..some where in the future..

MAJOR BREAKING TRANSFER NEWS:

Ben Arfa to seal Magpies switch
Newcastle set to retain France international playmaker

user posted image
Sky Sports News understands that Hatem Ben Arfa will seal a permanent move to Newcastle United from Marseille.

The France international is currently on a season-long loan at St James' Park, although a double leg fracture sustained against Manchester City has curtailed his appearances.

The 23-year-old looked an exciting talent in his four Premier League appearances having found the back of the net with a stunning strike in a 1-0 win at Everton.

Manager Alan Pardew recently confirmed the club were looking to push through a deal after negotiating a fee for his services when thrashing out the terms of his loan switch.

Ban Arfa has been recovering from his injury back home in France, but is understood to have travelled to Tyneside in order to facilitate a permanent move to the North East.

He will become the club's first signing since the transfer window reopened, although Pardew has already confirmed he is looking to bolster his attacking options.

so another 4 months right before Ben arfa can make a comeback?
crucial time in May
*
if reports are to be believed, he could even be ready fir the Sunderland match in 11 days time..would be great but I dont see it and we wont wanna rush him but imagine what we could do to the mackems..we beat them 5-1 without Ben Arfa..imagine him either playing behind Carroll or anywhere in the team..plus a Robbie Keane- Carroll partnership with Bentley on the right..naaahh..im kidding myself here now..

Ben Arfa should be okey by 1st week of February..

QUOTE(arcaloveher @ Jan 5 2011, 10:44 PM)
Yeap, think he's is progressing better than what the physios would have expected
Just dont rush him back into action until he is fully fit, dont know why I'm abit paranoid that he might not be the same player as he were before although I've just seen him played in two matches only  tongue.gif
Hopefully I'll be eating my own words as I love to see him dribble, an upgraded version of Jonas in all aspect, lol
Our club website has also confirmed on the signing of Ben Arfa
Hatem's Here To Stay

I hope Pardew can find a suitable position for him..I dont wanna see him on the left coz he likes to cut inside..an as seen in the defeat against Stoke, he started on the left, Jonas on the bench, but he was not there when Jose needed him like Jonas would..so better keep the Jonas-Jose partnership..

Against Man City, even though he only played 4 minutes, but we had Jonas on the left and Ben on the right..two players who like to dibble and cut inside..would have been explosive..damn u De Jong..

But for me, Ben should play in an attacking midfielder role or maybe just behind Carroll..if we cant get Keane, I think Ben would do well playing behind Carroll with Nolan back in midfield..

QUOTE(arcaloveher @ Jan 5 2011, 10:44 PM)
Btw no live telecast for the home game against the hammers tonight
The delayed telecast is exactly after the match have ended at 5.45am (Thursday)
Anyone plan to stay up and watch the match by streaming?  hmm.gif
Dont really fancy watching a small box with blur pixels and most of the time, foreign commentators lol
*
watch through Stadium Astro online..depending on ur internet speed though but if it is stable, then its the same as watching on TV itself..

Added on January 6, 2011, 1:12 amI hope we go for an attacking formation..would be great if we had two strikers..Ameobi with Best or Ranger or even Nolan..Lovenkrands hasnt taken his chance and tonight we need to take our chances..I remember McLoven played against Fulham, West Brom and Wigan and he has missed so many chances..we need to take any chances that come our way tonight..if McLoven starts, hope he takes them..

P/s: I would love for Routledge to start..his pace could be vital playing in behind the fullbacks..

Apparently, Birmingham City are winning the race to sign Robbie Keane..a bit disappointed with this news..not so much because of Keane, but because we will miss out on a striker to play upfront with Carroll..

Who else is on the market that can play upfront with Carroll?

Dont really know who are available around the market hmm

How bout Carlos Vela / Giovanni Dos Santos on loan? Both of them are out of favours at their respective club
Both are tricky, pacy strikers that I would like to see alongside Carroll
*
i dont think that what we are actually looking for is a pacey striker..but someone who has the ability to get on the end of chances that Crroll creates and has the ability to create goals for Carroll..

I think we should actually go for a player that is a proven regular goalscorer and could also shoulder the burden of getting the goals like when Carroll isnt playing..rte now, I dont see anyone that is available that fits that criteria.

How exactly do you expect someone to be at the end of Carroll's flick on if he is not quick enough? lol, I mean surely, good positioning by itself isn't enough?
Of course, whether both of them (Vela/Dos Santos) will be as clinical as Keane in front of goal or not is a different debate altogether since Keane has the upperhand in terms of experience
Cant see them being worse than Best/Lover/Xisco though, especially when both of them are fairly young players
*
I said pace is not the main priority for us to get a striker..and yes i do think pace is needed to get on the end of Carroll's flick on..but the more pressing issue for us to get a striker is because we rely too heavily on Carroll..either when he is injured or his goals dry up we need a player who can score goals regularly..

I think Keane was the natural choice but he doesnt have bags of pace anymore..we wanted him because of his experience and coz he scores goals..if we needed pace, Im sure Ranger can provide it..he is on par with Vela or Dos Santos..bags of pace but inexperienced in front of goal..McLoven, Best and Ameobi..have experienced but not consistent..

a Kevin Davies type of goalscorer would be good..not a flashy player, but scores goals and gets the job done..

Lol and skysports are reporting £7m for Keane by Birmingham
Surely Ashley wouldn't pay that kind of silly money, even Ben Arfa only cost us about £5.5m
Thats something the club has learned harshly in the past, paying overpriced money for 'has been' player, *cough*Owen*cough
*
is it done? thats the kind of money that is paid in January sales..over inflated..if that was what Spurs wanted, I guess Fat Mike has done the right thing not to splash that amount on Keane..he's not worth that much..lets hope Bentley can come now that Spurs have got money to spend to replace him and Keane..

and 5.5 million pounds for Ben Arfa was cheap and fantastic business by the club and Marseille..his prices sure would have inflated in the summer..and other clubs would have paid more to get him..Marseille kept their promise on the price and we got a coup for that price

Not sure bro,not confirmed yet, as much as I would like to see Keane over, the price itself just put me off (or Ashley in this case)
Pardew says there will be some business with Spurs, lets just see, Carroll wont be the subject of the business, thats for sure
Would prefer Krancjar (is that how you spell his name? lol) over Bentley though  wink.gif
Ok, how wrong can I be
Ameobi is out injured apparently

This is the rumoured line up

Newcastle United:: Harper; Simpson, S Taylor, Coloccini, Enrique; Barton, Nolan, Tiote, Gutierrez; Best, Lovenkrands

Best ahead of Ranger? Clearly Best lacks match fitness, he was walking like an old man when he came on against Wigan, lol
*
@arcaloveher
sorry to dissapoint u mate..but yesterday Harry Redknapp specifically said that Keane and Daivd 'Becks' Bentley can go but he definitely wants Krancjar to stay put..would agree with u that Kranjcar is slightly better but never know whet Bentley can bring..maybe he can outshine Bale..haha

The only thing I have against Ranger is that he is too easily shoved of the ball..I think thats the only weakness he currently has..Thats why Ameobi and now Best are ahead of him..he needs to have the strength to hold the ball up and be strong like Shola and Andy and even Leon..
