RH: I cannot do anymore

RH: It [the speculation] doesn't bother me because I can't do more than I am doing. I can't work harder and I can't work better.

Then please please please leave!!!!

i did watch the entire game this morning, which turned out to be a disappointing draw. nonetheless, i guess we can take comfort that we qualified as top of the group without any injury concerns at the end of the day.

jones had a good game between the sticks, fumbles occasionally with long shots but recovers well, but to be honest utrehct isn't really reknown for great strikers so jury's still out.

wilson was okay, nothing spectacular but perhaps should work on his strength and positioning. looked more comfortable with the ball compared to the likes of carra and skrtel, but caught in the wrong side of opposition players in several threats towards goal. clearly weaker than skrtel in dealing with headers.

shelvey and poulsen were missing tonight in the middle, that probably explains why our team looked so disjointed. shelvey was unusually quiet, and poulsen couldn't do what a defensive midfielder should do. always a little too slow to react, clearance go straight to opposition players, or simply couldn't pressure the other team to lose possession in front of our defence.

cole wasn't really contributing much, had a couple of good chances to score but failed to get into the scoresheet. jovanovic reminds me of baros, he plays with his head down and goes gallopping all the way. eccleston and babel were simply outclassed by utrehct's defenders, couldn't create really decent chances.

the match was too uneventful that i actually managed to calculate the passes in our play. in the entire match, the string of completed passes at most was only 11 before the player goes gungho and hoof it to nowhere, and that happened only once in the match. twice we string together 9 successive passes before, again, our defence plays a long ball without aim. we spent most of the match stringing 3-4 passes together before being pressured off it or simply blasting the ball back to utrehct. it's not hard to understand why we couldn't create any real goalscoring oppoturnities in this match. we don't spend enough time with the ball to do anything meaningful, and most of the time it's due to poor passes.

we rarely have unsuccessful passes, but our passes tend to be poor. yes, it reaches another teammate, but more often than not the passes were either overhit or the other way round, or the ball was directed just behind the player racing forward. and from those passes our players always have to break a little their stride to reach the ball, or just managed to wrestle the opposition players to the ball, or sometimes take a little more time to control an overhit pass and that gives utrehct a split second to cover more passing angles for the ball-playing player (and thus, hoofing a long ball will be the safest option).

this may be the reserves team (although more than half are considered the in the main squad), but the style is still the same. there's plenty to work on based on this performance alone.

I still believe Jovanovic is more a striker rather than a winger.. He can play very well on the left flank in a 4-3-3 formation, but not so well in 4-4-2 which requires the side midfielder to do a lot more defensive works.

aurelio did a little bit show off his quick feet.. i d k if roy impressed doh.gif
roy look tempered.. for the last 2 matches he no longer sitting on the bench... and his eyes show he got some problems..
pacheco and eccleston, babel lost too much off the ball..
joe cole did improved.. but how did he missed just 5yards from goal??
poulsen poor as always, did better, but still poor.
shelvey, good first half, anonymous in second half.
wilson? at least i can tell which one is him.. no baldies on the defence tonite..
