Pity the fella la, he has no one to talk to on the forum about his team. I dont' even think there is a thread for his team here. We shouldn't begrudge a lonely fella some company every once in a while smile.gif

ah, typical response from a red. the arrogance, it hurts. not.

same thing when the manc reds go 'who are ya?' to you, innit?

to rushmode and others, you do realize there ain't no helping it given who you are and who we are right? one thing about the forum is the enforced courtesy, which is kind of nonsensical given what football fans are like. so come on, spare us some banter before I go back to bluekipper.

Manc Reds go 'who are you' to liverpool? you must be high on crack boy.

Man U V Liverpool has always been THE biggest match of the season, regardless of liverpool's position in the table.

I do admire Everton for one thing and one thing only, their young talent. But other than that, they wont be serious competitors until some rich guy goes and buys them over.

madmoz: at first sight of the handball, i was disgusted as well, the blatant handball was a disgrace. but after a few days, i realized something. If u were in his shoes, what would you have done? If it means bringing my team closer to the World Cup, I would have done the same. It could have been reflex, it could have been intentional. the outcome is the same. Suarez was penalize and their opponents had the penalty.

can you honestly claim liverpool are contenders now? put it this way, a few more seasons in mid table and nobody would remember who you are. and if I'm not mistaken, there's this up and coming team in London. chelski or something they're called.

everyone's got heritage. but see, look at where notts county is now. it's just a media game, brought to you by ESPN. what's on the ground may be completely different. face it, you are no longer United's priority.

and suarez, I say go for it. the next el hadji diouf yo.

I woluld say given the home advantage liverpool are pretty darn good contenders even in the absence of gerrard n carragher.

Roy Hodgson defiant after Liverpool owners say results must improve

• 'I don't have any fears, worries or concerns'
• Comments come after John Henry called results 'unacceptable'

Roy Hodgson was unhappy with his side's efforts in the defeat at Newcastle on Saturday. Photograph: Ed Sykes/Action Images

Roy Hodgson today said he does not fear for his job and is confident Liverpool's owners New England Sports Ventures will back him as he tries to turn around the club's recent decline.

The 63-year-old has been under almost constant scrutiny since replacing Rafael Benítez in July as early results left the side in the Premier League's bottom three for several weeks. Results have picked up in recent weeks but Saturday's defeat at Newcastle did not help.

In a fans' phone-in last night the principal owner, John Henry, described results as "unacceptable" and that was interpreted by some as a thinly-veiled warning to the manager. However, Hodgson said he was in total agreement with Henry's assessment but was not concerned about his future and was confident the situation would improve, given time and the necessary investment.

"I don't have any fears, worries or concerns," he said. "But if you put it to me 'You feel there is no chance whatsoever of you getting sacked' then I would be in a minority of one in that respect. It happened to Chris Hughton, it happened to Sam Allardyce, Martin O'Neill resigned – we are all in that situation.

"But as someone who prides himself as a professional, who knows his job and is comfortable with doing his job, then you would excuse me for not going down the route you want me to go down in terms of 'Who can we get rid of next?'.

"Because basically speaking unless there is a major inflow of cash into the club and the team is going to be changed from one moment to the next then whoever takes my place will be doing a similar job with similar players. The owners have made it perfectly clear they are in it for the long term and they are going to be patient; they realise it is going to take time.

"They realise we can't turn things around overnight and they also realise that the team I am working with is not the team I put together. You don't turn things around overnight and they are aware of the magnitude of the task but they are very focused on what needs to be done and I am convinced they will help me get it done."

Hodgson, speaking at a press conference ahead of tomorrow's final Europa League Group K clash at home to Utrecht, was quizzed at length about his position at the club. He became increasingly frustrated at the line of questioning, although he accepted it was something he had become used to during his short time at the club.

"Once again I come here to do a European press conference, playing Utrecht when we are top of the table, and I find myself answering questions about owners and whether I am safe – it is a sad situation," he added.

"I came here to do a European press conference, which I am forced to do for Uefa, when really and truly I am doing a phone-in with you. That is the nature of the game, it seems to be the major preoccupation of the mass media because they want to see change.

"It doesn't bother me because I can't do more than I am doing, I can't work harder, I can't work better. I have great confidence in my ability, I don't think there is any reason not to have. I know the players are working as hard as they can to win matches for Liverpool and therefore me as manager.

"But if you have situations like last night when you have phone-ins to the owners you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know how that is going to go because we are not top of the league. Had we been top of the league it might have been different but we are not, we are ninth and we are Liverpool Football Club. You don't have to be Albert Einstein to work out more people will be unhappy with that than are happy with it."

Just absolutely astonishing interview, if i was to talk to my superiors and say the same things, I'd be expected to walk out of the organization the next day.

Really Roy? You cant do any better? mind you our ex-manager led us to the to win the Champions League with far far a substandard squad compared to the one you've inherited. looking at our league standings is there no reason not to work any harder?

why again Hughton was sacked?

boy are you full of fallacies.

where in my statement did i mention liverpool are contenders?
i said their match against Manure remains to be one of the biggest matches (if not the biggest) in the BPL season.

and your one-line smart remarks shows just what kind of person you are. You dont support a club, you hate another.

you don't get it do you? carry on like the few previous seasons and you'd be the next sunderland. tyneside derby anyone?

he's just saying have some faith, he's doing the best he can.

would you rather he go on some rant about referees and players not performing and needing time or whatever?

and mike, what I'm trying to get across is it's a media game. would you think liverpool/united is a big match if the media didn't play it up? biggest game of the season? right. I'd say sir alex is more concerned about them london boys, rather than you lot. even his half-hearted attempts at flaming the derby flames seems painful to listen to now.

lol. you see? your one-liners are boring old statements.

Sunderland are a formidable team (not a top team, but not a walk through the park), if u recall, they beat an upcoming team, you said Chelski... um.. 3-0 at their turf.. hmm.. makes you wonder... that you are not a man of facts, but a man of opinion.

Carry on trolling son, it will get you nowhere.

if you don't get my 'boring one-liners', just shows what sort of a fan you are. the league wasn't invented in the 90's, kid. if you have trouble getting my references, so be it. accuse me of trolling, you really have no idea what you're on about.

please stop believing the ESPN hype sometimes. it helps. and what's this crap about sunderland's performance? who even cares? what has it got to do?

boy are you missing the point.

I assume you're an Everton supporter based on the posts ive seen from you and your selective retorts to certain posts.

This is not an excuse, this is his JOB. He took up the challenge thinking he could cut it, and its not like he's not getting paid to do his JOB.

Imagine this. You are an owner of a company, and your company profit reports are in the red because the staff arent performing to the levels they can. You as an owner look to your CEO for an action plan on how to fix the issue. and imagine your company's CEO comes up to the press and says "it doesn't bother me because I can't do more than I am doing, I can't work harder, I can't work better. I have great confidence in my ability, I don't think there is any reason not to have"

Would you still like to see him to lead your company? A certain Spaniard in Italy if you need any reminder im sure you dont but its Rafa Benitez mind you that won what 8 matches in the Merseyside Derby? fair enough he had his own tough times here but at least he wasnt dribbling and regurgitating crap in interviews like Roy did still does and will continue to do , that only me but infact most of the local lads in Liverpool has had enough of.

ah, now you see why I like Roy. hahaha! ; p

good for you, red. but honestly, this tradition of sacking just after 6 months, so forth has got to stop. it takes years to build a team, and rafa left a team in tatters. and one more thing. believe me, rafa spews more crap than RH has ever does.

ah glad to know the feeling on Roy is mutual smile.gif

What tradition of sacking of managers? I didnt know we were playing in Tyneside? and our kit happened to be black and white...

check back on our "tradition" of sacking managers please. I know where you're going with the Rafa debate, bah, check back our squad now compared to 5 years ago. not exactly tatters is it? so you're obviously taking the piss for the ONE bad season Benitez had during his 5 years. thats fine, I wonder whats your beef with a man not even managing Liverpool right now, either you must be bitter for numerous amount of losses in the Merseyside Derby by that of the man who spews crap notched up against you lots or you must be a closet Inter fan.

Please dont live up to the tag of being bitter, thats what Evertonians are called am I right? You seem to be a shining example, but kudos to you you seem to talk some sense better than some other Evertonians i come across

Totally agreed. If you can't win it, it doesn't mean that you can cheat for it, especially in a game watched by millions of football fans around the world! The fact that he was still proud of it tops it for me. Honest? I guess so. Arrogant cheat? Totally.

i'd pesonally disagree with this.. at that time we got Riise, hyypia, hamann, garcia, kewell, baros, smicer, cisse, xabi and also biscan... which in my opinion, is a more solid 'line-up' compared to current squad with the five-years older Stevie and and Carra out of equation... and not to mention that half of the squad was considering leaving the club after Rafa was forced to leave...

These are our regular players and their current age..

Carra 32
Kyrgiakos 31
Aurelio 31
Poulsen 30
Gerrard 30
Kuyt 30
Konchesky 29
Jovanović 29
Maxi 29
Cole 29
Reina 28
Jones 28
Meireles 27
Torres 26
Agger 26
Skrtel 26
Johnson 26
Babel 24
Lucas 23
N'gog 21
----------------
Kelly 20
Pacheco 19
Wilson 19

At some points Roy was right, but generally he still a poor manager.

No, he didnt say have some faith,he is doing the best he can. In fact, he said that's the best from him and ask no more from him. Always...always, there is room for improvement and the fact that he said he cant improve further means that he is throwing excuses and pushing blames to players.
