It says service type First Class Package International and not letter wink.gif Oh, I checked again, the service type does say international letter. So, just wait and see. It has been picked up now and will just wait for the next two weeks for the package to arrive.

And here is where I got my enclosures + ICs etc..

Not an amateur frequency, not related to us and the hobby and shouldn't be discussed here I believe.

Nope, not yet, it arrived on Friday, so they're not doing anything during the weekend. Hopefully I can get it within this week if everything is okay. Hmm, it seems that there is no movement today, yours seem to be sent to KL PPL but mine doesn't seem to move. Doesn't feel good .. USPS status says :

"October 24, 2014 , 10:20 am Customs clearance processing complete"

Okay, should've gone to another stage:

27 Oct 2014, 6:33 AM Arrive at delivery office PPL SHAH ALAM
25 Oct 2014, 8:16 AM Arrive at delivery office PPL SHAH ALAM
18 Oct 2014, 7:07 AM Send to MALAYSIA UNITED STATES

Ah, I know why it went to Shah Alam, aya.. somehow, it took the address from my old paypal instead of the address that I entered in the order form. Damn.. Now poslaju will need to send to KOTA DAMANSARA PPL since my address has two postal codes .. damn...

It has status arrived at PPL Shah Alam since yesterday and nothing moving right now. Is there a probability that it was due to the tax that poslaju has paid and I need to go to the counter? I'll wait for today, if there is nothing from poslaju and no movement in the status, I'll make a call to PPL Shah Alam.

Received it today, no tax, under declared by the seller. Replace my RTL-SDR with the hackrf, I could see bigger bandwidth on my grtx screen and better rx signal compared to the rtl-sdr. Recompling some of the stuff on my Mac using mac port, python was broken due to the OS upgrade, so need to get it working again.

There are so many antenna. Which should I choose? Fiberglass etc. What are the differences?

I am only referring to this website for now...

First thing first, where do you want to install your antenna? Will it be a permanently there, if not, how long do you think it will be there?

If you're looking for a portable antenna which later on to be transferred to your mobile, you might want to get a mobile antenna + the magnetic mount. Find a place outside your room (probably on top of air-cond radiator). When you want to transfer it to your car, you can use the magnetic mount and the antenna on your car. It is ugly for sure.

Another solution, get a MR77, tho' it is 1/4 wave antenna, I've no idea if this is the chili-padi that you were talking about. This is a good antenna and I'm using it right now. It has a small magnetic based and I've no problem when driving at normal highway speed.

Fiberglass you mentioned probably is for a base antenna. BTW, to use the antenna with different radios, just get yourself a different type of connectors, available from ham shops or jalan pasar or even ebay. Don't forget to buy the feeder cable too smile.gif

sifu, may i know can i bring walkie talkie on flight check in baggage? domestic/international?

Shouldn't be a problem, they might ask you to never turn it on while inflight or might ask you to separate the antenna. I've brought a handy to Netherlands before and they never ask me anything.

so if like a normal walkie <5km without registered frequency should b ok rite?

To bring into the flight is one thing, the bring into another country/back to our country is another thing smile.gif Going out, the check is done by the airport security. Going in (international), the check is done by customs and this is where you might get into trouble, anywhere in the world if you couldn't proof what freq. it is operating on and paperworks that you've (license, etc.). But as long as you don't show that you've something to hide, the customs won't check you out.

Good luck, I believe you've fully prepared yourself, it isn't hard, just need to pass 50% out of 100 questions. The guides to pass the exam and the sample exam can be found on the internet. Pejam mata boleh lepas punye! biggrin.gif

Nice, a good start Amin. I believe quite a few universities had ham clubs before but they're mostly inactive now. You need someone who can prolong the interest, so, a lecturer or someone who is permanently working for the uni needs to be there to keep the club running. Not an easy task for sure.

My friend is getting an SDR; this in particular:

http://www.nooelec.com/store/sdr/sdr-recei...te-control.html

Wondering if anyone want to get it as well. Shipping is USD 5 that we could all share. Plus, if we hit 5 orders, can get some small discount.

Too expensive for a dongle, I bought one China version for RM35. You might want to check ebay or aliexpress.

What do you mean by English speaking repeaters? 9M2RKK and 9M2RKL are both not heavily used, why not just go on that repeaters and start calling? Or probably set few of your hams friends to join in at certain time in a day.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I have to pay a visit to Kamco Aluminium then. I aslo need 1.25 inch mast.

I'm yet to see anyone installing antenna tripod on their roof. Please share it with us when you're done. Problem is, most of our houses are using clay or concrete roof tiles and not easy to mount the tripod. Probably best to clamp it to your wall I guess.

I have seen many houses installed with tripod but for the TV antenna or lightning protection rod. Have not seen for other uses.

I have been thinking to install the antenna using the TV clamp but it is too small. Probably have to custom made to have a larger diameter.

Would stainless steel or aluminium is better for the mast?
*
I've been using aluminium poles for my antennas, it has been more than 7 years now and they're still going strong. For me, I've some opening on my roof where I could mount my antenna without using a tripod, so I just clamp the pole to the wall.
