Like we said..... RM 200 is a little low for a classical or acoustic guitar. If you're just beginning, buy a Cheapo Kapuk and learn some simple chords first. Then save up cash (at least Rm500 and up) for a decent guitar if you find you enjoy playing guitar.

It's the GFX5..... not the 505.... I have them both.... And they now both equally sucks......

And I'm using a very old Laney Linebacker.... and it sounds ok.... but then again.... that could be due to my new Tonelab SE.....

You'll be VERY dissapointed if you stick with the Zoom GFX5 and the Laney15 watter.....

Instead of the GFX5 and the Laney, why don't you get a vox or even a Line6......
I hear the Line6 SpiderII 30w is going for RM625 now.... Throw in the FBV Express Foot Controller and you have effects, pedals AND and amp for around RM1000.. If you got some extra cash lying around..... try out the SpiderII 112 (75w) with the FBV..

If you want that fat mellow tone, you gotta go with an LP.....
The Epiphone Les Paul Standard should be around RM1800..... that's a good start.
Also, you can check out the ESP LTD Eclipse.... ESP Custom pickups, Les Paul body, and wicked tone. Around RM1600 I think (in guitar collection midvalley)

If you can't take the weight, forget about mellow tone......
The warmer the tone is.... the heavier the guitar is (normally)

Try out the LTD Eclipse.... really. It's not as heavy as an Epi LP... but still has that warm tone.

But if he wants a Warm tone, then you have to go with a Les Paul type guitar.....
Seriously..... it's not THAT heavy..... be a man, man!!!! You'll get used to the weight soon enough. I did.....

Well, I never found going without a trem bar a dissability. True, I want the new Dimebag because it has a trembar, but for the Les Paul, I love it because of the great tone it can squeeze out.

At first, I thought my LP-100 was all that and a bag of chips, but once I got my hands on the ZW LP Custom..... I'm blown away even more. I can't imagine if I laid my hands on a proper Gibson Les Paul Custom (or a '59 Standard... DROOOOOOOOL).....

Wait.... I lost track.... back to point.
I don't gig, but I DO practise alot (during holidays).... Sometimes 2 hours, 2 times a day (Once in the afternoon, and once at night)... and I play standing..... Shoulders ached at first, but soon got used to it. I also find propping up my leg against an elevated surface (in my case, a milk carton that's lifting my amp) to get better support.

During my first year with my Les Paul, I used a DIY Chain strap ala Zakk, and MAN did it cut through my shoulder. First had to use padding, and then finally had to yank it out.... waaaaaaay too painful. But Ironically, it DID build strength towards my shoulder... I wouldn't recommend the same method I did to build strength towards my shoulder, but you WILL get used to the weight.

Another Noob.....
In order to help us help you, please state what kind of music you want to play, what are your musical preferences and do you have anything already in mind........

Also note that for electric guitar, you'll also need an amplifier..... Please state if you have included the amplifier in your budget or not..... or if you even want an amplifier.

I think DarrenCW is intimidated of the weight of the Les Paul because of what he's heard about it. But unless he actually tries it, it's not for us to determine if it's REALLY heavy or not heavy at all.....

What I want to say is that if you can live with a little weight to get the tone that you want to get.... then yes.... go get it.... It'll be worth it.
But if the weight is REALLY too much to bear, then he should consider other alternatives.

An LP Studio is actually a good start. It's not as heavy as a standard, yet still retains the warm tone of the Les Paul....

Highly recommend that.

If you're not playing metal, for the love of god, DON'T GET THE MARSHALL. In fact, I can't recommend anything from Marshall below the AVT50 series if you're not playing metal......

Try out the 15w Vox AD15vt.... Valvetube tech, great sounds and built-in effects too. Sacrifice your Toneworks if you have to and get the optional Footswitch and a Wah pedal.
Trust me, the vox is really worth it.... much more versatile then the puny Marshall. Call up CK music. I hear their slashing the prices of their ADVT series.

Yes. I'm saying that the 15w Marshall just plain SUCKS.
Liek I said, I would ONLY recommend anything above the AVT50x IF you're a metal player.....

But if you're on a budget, the best you can do is probably the Vox AD15vt. Still the best bargain for a 15watter!
