I think she's looking for just a guitar, because apparently she can use the friend's studio.

But Kimberly, what we're trying to say is that, for ANY guitar that costs below 500 bucks, ISN'T going to sound THAT great. If you just can wait and put in just a few hundred more, you can get a MUCH better sounding guitar.

Whatever you do, DON'T BUY A PYRAMID!! I tried out a few and THEY SUCK!!! They look great, but..... oh god.... words can't even describe how sucky they are.
They have a so called "Floyd Rose Licesened" Trem..... but the damn thing goes out of tune as soon as you pull of some dive bombs....

Hmmmmmm...... haven't really tried an SX to form a proper opinion so can't give comments.... But apparently, it looks like SX is a cheap and reliable guitar. So Kim, next question is.....
What kind of music do you want to play, what kind of music do you listen to? Then we can probably recommend you a guitar to suit your style.

I've switched alligience to Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu for a few months already....... But still using Zakk's tips from Guitar World to practise.....

Noel Gallagher you mean? He's actually using Epiphones... a sub-divison of Gibsons which makes them in Korea, which technically makes them cheaper.

If you check the forums, you would know that I'm the biggest Gibson/Epiphone supporter here..... Les Pauls in particular.

Since you like the look of the Les Paul, why don't you get the SX clone of it? I hear it's pretty good.... anyone out here tried a Les Paul SX clone?

Hahaha..... Guitar Collection you mean? If you want, come at 11.45 on Sundays.... that's when I finish my lessons there.... But don't think would be much help as the guitars that can be tested there are either way over your budget or totally not worth it..... read on.

The 2 brands that they bring in are ESP/LTD (YUMMY!!!) and Pyramid (YUCKY!!!)......

I've tried most of their ESPs and LTDs and they sound amazing..... but I don't think they fit into your 500 budget. The Pyramid's are really horrible sounding and not even worth 500 bucks.......

So far I think SX are your best budget choice. I remembered someone just recently owning an SX Les Paul clone...... can probably ask them about it.

Why Settle for an SX Black Beauty........ at least wish to own an Epiphone version or even a Gibson one man!!!!!!

Kim... get an SX...... that's the conclusion.... where you want a strat style or Les Paul style...... is really up to you...... I'd suggest a Les Paul style one if you like Noel's so much.....

And about the Black Beauty3 pup...... every Sunday I pass it and drool.....
But next guitar..... if I ever get one.... will probably be a Razor or a V style guitar.... MUST have a Floyd Rose trem...

Schecter's are very nu-metal, hard rock sounding.....
I think the band Chevelle uses Schecter's alot.....

I tried the Omen and Damien... very impressed with the Daminen.....

Well, you can't really compare the Fender and the Epiphone....... both totally different styles of guitar.... Strats and Les Pauls are completly different guitars....

So you can't really say..."oh.... for the price of an Epiphone, I can buy a Fender!!".. Yes.... but does Fender make Les Pauls? Or SGs? Same can be said about Epis.... They don't make Teles or Strats...

If they both made the same type of guitars... then of course we can compare that.

And FYI.... most Epis are Korean/China made.... where else do you think they come from? Nashville???

But yeah... i have to agree that the China made ones arn't as good as the Korean made ones. Luckily my LP-100 is from Korea..... Not sure about my new Zakk Wylde Custom though...... Hopefully it's Korean or even *gasp* American made!!!

But if you're talking in terms of performance.... I still think Epis are still much, much higher standard compared to say, SX guitars. I'm not saying that SXs are bad.... but to me, an Epi is still an epi. Wood quality is better, the binding is better and general workmanship is better.

But that's just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.

There are no Elitist version of Zakk's guitar..... it's just stated as a Epiphone Zakk Wylde Camo Bullseye Custom Les Paul.....

And yes..... it is an AWSOME looking guitar to behold..

You really need to push the JCM800 to get the distortion you want..... That's why we normally put a Overdrive pedal over the distortion to get that edge..... and nothign pushes the JCM800 over the edge like the ZW-44......
