Actually u can use Find My iPhone on 3GS. But firstly u need to set up MobileMe account on any iPhone 4, iPad or iPod touch (4th generation) running iOS 4.2. Then you can repeat the process on any other devices running iOS 4.2.

setting-wifi-(on the wifi 1st,then got blue color arrow after the signal and tab), - forget this network

connect back again and it will prompt new password
