just a question:
how to fix the pin(the 1 on the CD within HDD)?
it's making weird noises.....

The internals of the hard disk is not user accesible. The simple act of opening it in a normal environment is almost a sure way to kill it.

What does that mean? Is it anything serious? If yes, Where do I find a Western Digital service centre in Kuala Lumpur? I can't get the details from their website.

Try running WD Lifeguard on that drive and see what it tells you to do. I think it has to be sent to Singapore for RMA...

That actually means your HD is dying. Bad sectors are popping out on your HD. Like adbacc suggested, running WD Liveguard might help.

I've also have that problem. Sometimes windows doesn't boot, sometimes it does. But now, things seems fine now. If your data are really important, I recommend you to replace the HD.

Might be the Windows installation. If possible, try reinstalling Windows. Even better, use Linux.
HDD is somewhat hard to predict. Sometimes they last for years, sometimes only a few month.

If possible i will try to avoid reinstalling windows.
This because i have many game in it and don't even have their installer as backup.
If i buy new HDD, can i use it with my older HDD in windows and keep it without reinstalling?

I have tried Linux before but don't quite like it..
I admit that Linux feel smoother and faster but i find that quite difficult to use as daily use compared to Windows and OS X.

Anyone has any suggestions about bringing a HDD on an airplane?

About a year ago, I brought my HDD wrapped in its anti-static bag, sandwiched between my towels to keep it from damage in my backpack.
Landed in Canada, and when I tried to set it up it wouldn't boot up at all. Putting it into an external 3.5" hardisk casing (Nexstar 3), I could access my data. (Whew!)

Ended up buying a new 2TB hard disk and transferring everything from the old HDD over.
Now my only issue now is...when I fly back to Malaysia..

Anyone has suggestions?

If I have to buy some sort of safe transportation casing specially designed for HDD's I would. (Well if there's such a thing)

Open the hard disk case. sure not working because even tiny particle like smoke particle will make hard disk rosak.
