Depends, if the sound is getting louder and louder, you better backup all your valuable data. It's going to spoil soon.

Hmm... From what I know, it's because the computer reads the 80G differently than human do.
80G(computer) = 80 x 1024 x 1024 x 1024 = 85,899,345,920
80G(human) = 80 x 1000 x 1000 x 1000 = 80,000,000,000

This is due to computer is base 2(binary base) which 0=Off , 1=On. So the nearest to 1k is 2^10 = 1024.

Added on September 19, 2007, 7:04 amAnyway, total for your HDD is 74.5G(what I added from figure you given)

My western digital hard drive just died. Cannot boot and detect. But still under warranty as its 2 year +. Anyone has tried to get a drive replaced from western digital before? Do I need to bring the disk to their office in PJ.

Yea the fee is rm50 for the IT shop to do it. Just want to know whether its a difficult procedure to get it replaced. Do they impose a latest date to deliver it after filling up the form on their rma website ?
