@ahseng repairing HDD too costly. better get a new one. doesnt cost u much.
@~hunter~ always what? restart ah? try change ur friends hdd jumper. remove the jumper if there is. n chk the hdd cable. connect ur friend hdd to slave cable. NOT the master cable. try it. might solve it.

Hey guys, i'm wondering how come i get hdd burnt that easily? Lately, i just got one Seagate 320gb sata drive. I connected it with the cables and it worked well with my Maxtor 80gb sata drive. Few days later, I wanna replace the 320gb as the primary hdd, so i backuped all the files into my seagate harddisk. After connecting all the cables (as previous), screwing the hdd on the holder, etc. My hdd got burnt when i start the com. The smoke really shocked me.. -.-" And then, the other day i tried to backup my files again from the only Maxtor hdd drive with those usb-to-sata cable.. IT GOT BURNT AGAIN!!! Desperate now... Now i dun dare to plug in any hdd, afraid tat it'll get burnt again.. Shudn't be power supply problem rite? Coz the harddisks worked before they got burnt.

Like cd writer, graphics card etc... did it burned??? If yes then it must be your faulty PSU, if not u might try to change the sata power cable... some times the cable inside gt wiring short circuit.... Just my 2cents bcoz I have this experience b4.

My com is having some booting problems again.
When i switch on my com,it will either stop booting at the Windows loading screen with the HD LED not lit up or blinking or i'll get "Disc boot error. Please insert system disc" after RAM test.Everything back to normal after switch off, unplug and replug my power cable then restarting my com.
This problem occur randomly. It just happen this morning again.I tried rebooting 3 times after that and it still able to enter windows successfully.Last time it happen is somewhere last week.
It happen again on yesterday night.Manage to get inside windows but the system hang on the desktop when Live messenger is loading.Things went back to normal after 1 more reseting.
My current system specs:
AMD Athlon 64-bit 2.0GHz Gigabyte nVidia 6600GT 1.5 GB DDR400 RAM Maxtor SATA 120GB hard disk Asus K8N4-E Deluxe Motherboard iCute PSU
Currently running Windows XP SP2.My windows is constantly updated.
If you need more information,i'll put up more.
Is this a sign of dying hard disk or there are bad sector?
I have posted a thread in technical support but it got buried under tonnes of new thread.

Goodness me...the word "kill" and "HDD" don't know why just reminded me of a dude that i watched on youtube that "shoots his computer (literally, with an actual gun) while he is playing his computer !!" A gun to the computer. Violence and technology, don't go hand in hand.
--can u imagine if a dude playing FEAR and he gets so damn scared that he removes an actual gun from inside his drawer and shoots the screen...lol !!

Hi, wanna to ask... got big problem
I have connected a power cord wrongly to my HDD, so when i turn it on, it smelled like burning and i saw little smoke on top of it... the result is: its dead!!
have i destroyed my HDD?? can i just change the small 'motherboard' on the HDD to a new one, or a secondhand, in order to get back to 'life'?
because i really think the HDD is not yet corrupted, only the 'HDD motherboard', because the smoke just came from it, not from other part. I have try to reconnect and on it again and again, but its remain dead... no sign of life.. non!
please someone?
