QUOTE(antidream unthought @ Mar 10 2011, 09:35 PM) Hah! Your other alternative is also my 'other options', even same budget I like that too! In fact, the Devi Ever Truly Beautiful Disaster is next on my hitlist after this basic setup But since i'm actually looking for the darker kind of tone, i'm not that familiar with ones you've mentioned except for the EHX. I'll try to snoop for pedals that have their signature tones and experiment routing them the non-traditional way (i.e. using bass effect on guitars, this one i have trouble finding examples) Hmm... Gapnap told me about the Barber Direct Drive, and it seems really versatile, so I might go for that QUOTE(pleasuresaurus @ Mar 11 2011, 12:37 AM) Great minds think alike! My current rig is budgeted around that as well, n im running a joyo chorus and delay. The chorus is nice but problem is it adds quite a bit of gain when u kick it in so the signal becomes a lil bit sharper n louder, more bite. I recall coming across sumthing called the horus chorus, which has a volume knob to control the signal spike. Might wanna check it out. Horus Chorus ehh? I might look at that lah |

Okay lah... Drummer's perspective. What's the layout of the studio, what drums those are (different woods have VERY different projections), any sound dampeners, etc? Then also, AMP POSITIONING, and trust me, you don't want to overpower the drums. You just want to be HEARD cutting THROUGH the drums. |

Isaacmiranda7: horus chorus is a pedal tank effect that should cost round 300 i think. Theres a guy in penang i know who carries it, i can PM u the number if u want.
+3kk!: what u can do is get ur hands on a jcm 800 (or a vintage clone from ceriatone). Put a drive pedal b4 it and an EQ pedal after it n ur good to go (eg a proco rat n a boss GE7). The EQ will make a lot of difference, u can tweak from classic rock to nu metal as long as u pump enuff drive. Couple that with a speaker cab with celestion v30s n u have a vintage rig that can do metal anytime. |

Say budget under US$150, around RM450 lah +3kk!: what u can do is get ur hands on a jcm 800 (or a vintage clone from ceriatone). Any thoughts anyone on the Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive and the Nobels ODR-1? This post has been edited by isaacmiranda7: Mar 13 2011, 04:44 PM |

QUOTE(isaacmiranda7 @ Mar 13 2011, 03:10 PM) It depends lah... high end amp = what budget? mesa doesnt make something i want, if not i would consider d and their amps are woefully expensive 15k for a head with heaps of features i dont use. for that kinda cash id rather spend on a bassman 59/marshall superlead + an ENGL fireball for modern stuff. if i calculated right, id still have change lol.Hmm... Any thoughts anyone on the Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive and the Nobels ODR-1? but sorry la i not feature hungry, i kinda dislike amps with too many channels and too many effects. too noob to mess with complex stuff. i was thinking of a 2 channel amp like the bassman, and if times need i put a pedal infront for metal love. dont really fancy modern sounding amps |
