Hi there...

I think we all have some questions about these softwares... let's put'em here. Modd, come here help us laugh.gif

1st of all: where do you get a correct "rock" bass sound ? which sample is it ?

Can post your drum n bass tracks here too, to show us a problem or a good track !

your track is pretty good, monny ! the drums are intesively programmed and totally rocks, but it's still a bit "rigid", in the sense that it's too perfect... weird he...

question 2 : is there anything to humanize the drums ? create some microscopic delays automatically rather than going thru the painful "piano score" ?

realistic rock drums:
look in the folder 'RealDrumkit'. i think that's the name...

realistic rock bass:
generators>FLSlayer>eBass

i don't remember exactly the names of the folders... thesexpistols, bleh cut n paste what i've written in the PM or not? thx...

to humanize drums:

1. you can fluctuate the volume of each hit, so that it sounds like the drummer's hand is a bit unstable. especially good to apply on hi-hats.

2. fluctuate the shift, make some of the hits out-of-time

3. or you can use the built-in 'humanize' preset, which i've never used, and don't know how to.

yea that could work...
but after a while of listening to it, u can tell its electronic...
acid pro is not a piano score...
more like boxes...
just select teh samples from the lower portion, it will be added to the list of samples....
then just draw how long the duration of that beat..
so if its a double bass beat, u gotta draw that...
haha..
i'll post the screen shot later.. now it won't let me upload it

guys, i think i hv found one of the best drum modules...

its really real...its an acoustic drum module...i stumbled upon it at suprnova last year. its called BFD. www.fxpansion.com. i dled its 2 dvds...huge. but i tell u...the drum sounds so real...u can humanize the velocity and timing too. very tweakable.

u can here one of my songs there using that drums...

thx.

ooohh after you guys started mentioning about fruity loops and all this drum machine stuff, i've created one simple and super short track.

The drum parts are done using fruity loops shareware version 1.2. I think it's an old version of fruity loops.

here it is

pokute, good ! i dunno how you guys manage to do such groovy drums ! how did you work on it ? do you do a basic drum track first, then guitars + bass then you re-edit the drums, or how ?

for me, i do the drum + bass track for the whole song, which could involve 30 - 40 patterns. then i export is as a wave file into a mixing software like Adobe Audition. then i record the guitars.

it's better if you export seperate tracks for drum and bass, so that you could adjust the sound properties independently in the mixing software.

as for creating the grooves for drums, i'd say you have to have basic knowledge of drum beats. if you know how to play drums, it'll be a lot natural to arrange the individual components of the drum kit.

if you don't, you can use ready-made drum samples and use a software like Acid Pro.

yeah, i did it like that. But i dont re-edit the drums though, only re-edit the drum volume to suit my taste.

Mmmm one question though, what type/version of fruity loops are using modD?

fruityloops producer 4.++ i think. can't remember the exact version.

anyways, i think those who use the same versions (with identical instrument/fx packs) can share their fruityloops project files. and we can learn how to create beats/songs together. beats explaining through words.
