realistic rock drums:
look in the folder 'RealDrumkit'. i think that's the name...

realistic rock bass:
generators>FLSlayer>eBass

i don't remember exactly the names of the folders... thesexpistols, bleh cut n paste what i've written in the PM or not? thx...

to humanize drums:

1. you can fluctuate the volume of each hit, so that it sounds like the drummer's hand is a bit unstable. especially good to apply on hi-hats.

2. fluctuate the shift, make some of the hits out-of-time

3. or you can use the built-in 'humanize' preset, which i've never used, and don't know how to.

for me, i do the drum + bass track for the whole song, which could involve 30 - 40 patterns. then i export is as a wave file into a mixing software like Adobe Audition. then i record the guitars.

it's better if you export seperate tracks for drum and bass, so that you could adjust the sound properties independently in the mixing software.

as for creating the grooves for drums, i'd say you have to have basic knowledge of drum beats. if you know how to play drums, it'll be a lot natural to arrange the individual components of the drum kit.

if you don't, you can use ready-made drum samples and use a software like Acid Pro.

fruityloops producer 4.++ i think. can't remember the exact version.

anyways, i think those who use the same versions (with identical instrument/fx packs) can share their fruityloops project files. and we can learn how to create beats/songs together. beats explaining through words.

ssslayer, what version are you using? if it's nearly the same as mine, i can upload a basic flp file n it'll be easier for me to explain. coz i really suck at giving off-hand instruction.

dang... i'm using version 4.5.2.

let's try anyway...

you start by opening the Step Sequencer (F6), and load patches from the browser on the left. The patches you can use are located in the folder named Packs. for the sample i uploaded, i already preloaded the basic drumkits and bass patches.

under the big timer on top, there are 2 buttons, pattern and song. you create the patterns in the Step Sequencer (F6). after that you arrange them in a sequence using the Playlist (F5).

in the Step Sequencer, you'll notice 2 buttons, Graph and Keyboard. graph is to alter volume/panning and Keyboard is to change the notes of the patch sequence.

in my sample you can see how i arranged the drums and bass, and on the 3rd pattern i demonstrated how to create rolling snares and tom-toms using the Graph editor (volume & panning).

dunno lah... seems that every torrent site requires you to register first.
i checked out the infos for DFH Superior... bloody hell it's 35 GB!!! hopefully some shop in LY sells it.

for now, i just downloaded NsKit 7 free edition (70Mb) and hope it's good enough.

how about BFD Fxpansion? is it good?

modD, this is a lot to ask, but could you give us morons a step by step tutorial of how you created that rock.flp thingy that you uploaded a while ago?

QUOTE(Air Hendrix @ Jul 21 2005, 07:12 PM)
i second that! maybe huzai also can help... right from step one on how to crack the *ahem* version of fl.
*
i've been meaning to do a proper tutorial for quite some time, but now i'm really swamped with a lot of things. another 1 1/2 month perhaps?

btw it'd be nice if huzai could give a tutorial 1st, his arrangement is much nicer i think biggrin.gif

but if you see me online on msn/YM just give me a shoutout and i'll see what i can do thumbup.gif

hello people

i've started a simple tutorial page for Fruityloops. it's very very simple and basic, and hopefully i have enough time to add in more tutorials that deal with advanced features.

http://www.azahan.com/music/index.html

and while you're at it, click on the google ads and sponsor me a new guitar biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

come submit tutorials too...
