guys. 2B 1) the answer's 6 but i cant seem to get the answer. I keep getting n>7. Help?
*
ar^(n-1) > 11

45056 x 0.25^(n-1) > 11

(n-1) log 0.25 > log (1/4096)

n-1 < 6

n < 7

n = 6

I know. But why does the sign changes direction? I don't really know the rule when it comes to changing the sign. < and >.

Because log 0.25 = -0.602

When you change the place, and it is negative, the > changes to <

You forgot about the other explanation. The buoyant force can also be more than the weight of object. That causes the object to float on water as well.
*
but if the object is floating and stationary, then the buoyant force = weight of object.

i think if buoyant force > weight of object, the object will just keep going upwards. eventually, the weight of fluid displaced will be equal to the weight of the object.

(1/4)^n-1 > 4^-6

4^(-n+1) > 4^-6

-n + 1 > -6

-n > -7

n < 7

n = 6
