^Weird you get that kind of problem in the first place.
I bought single stick of 4GB RAM for RM135 totaling 6GB but Windows say only 5.86GB usable. Doesn't matter much to me anyway. I put 2GB SD card in it as dedicated ReadyBoost and disable pagefile entirely. Things never been zippier even with 5400rpm harddrive |

QUOTE(eugenechiuu @ Jan 15 2011, 02:07 AM) ooo.. 25% OC"ed... How's the temp and any notable performances? Temperature remains pretty much the same, 75C load when playing Starcraft 2 and GTA IV. But performance in Starcraft 2 increase dramatically from barely playable at medium 1280x720 to very playable 1366x768 High, GTA IV only increase about 2-5fps Lol, I got a feeling u bought this cheap laptop just for experimenting stuffs... Lol of course not. This laptop is not for experimenting. Its used for my study. This is just my nature to learn the hardware inside the things I buy. This time I won't mod the hardware part, just software. Although I have disassembled this laptop, the warranty is still there because the only warranty void sticker I see is on the CPU HSF |

Done some test on how much performance increase from overclocking, so I use CPC Media Benchmark to gauge before and after performance difference, and its quite significant
Stock 2.0GHz speed: Image editing: 839 points Video encoding: 951 points Multitasking testing: 595 points Overall score: 795 points 2.5GHz overclock Image editing: 1031 points Video encoding: 1199 points Multitasking testing: 703 points Overall score: 978 points |

QUOTE(verdangilte @ Jan 17 2011, 11:42 AM) guys , recently my A42jv is become slower ... i means startup...from startup until fully complete is cost more then 2 min...sienz...and this moment i had not yet install any AV ...so any one suggest what i can do to make it faster. ?? Clean up startup process, remove the unnecessary things that could slow down startup. I have about 50 process after bootup, and that's quite a lot for me, because the necessary ASUS stuff like ATK and Keyboard Filter, AMD GPU also eats considerable system process plus some additional process like WLAN Optimizer to prevent spikes in DPC Latency checkerbeside...any best bang combo for AV ?? i dun hope to crash my system... Also defrag your system, use CCleaner to clean up registry and any old and temporary files. Make sure virtual memory is one fixed value, for example 2GB means 2048MB for minimum and maximum, For AV, use the free ones like AVira AntiVir or Panda Cloud Antivirus |

QUOTE(mekboyz @ Jan 20 2011, 12:15 AM) The top left side is where the vent is so thats the hottest. Also underneath the left hand rest gets hot while gaming. The right-hand side is always cool. You already pinpont the location, what prevent you from putting it there? The vent is from CPU and GPU HSF while the bottom left is the harddrive. |

QUOTE(mekboyz @ Jan 20 2011, 11:19 PM) But its not big enough to put 2 fans on the left hand side.. so i was wondering which has higher priority. the vent or hdd I put it on the HDD because its roasting hot. The 2nd one you should put it on the vent on RAM slots if the space permits@shark i7 is only 1.7ghz per core. The only reason i got the a42ja was for the hd5730. |

Don't use 'newb' as a reason. You could use HWInfo32 or HWMonitor

QUOTE(schematicme92 @ Feb 6 2011, 12:17 AM) Hi guys, need some help. Download latest BIOS if you don't done so already. Link hereI bought my Asus A42JC A couple of weeks ago. It was fine for the first few weeks. Suddenly, I get hangs and blank black screens many times. Annoys me a lot especially during start ups. I know that perhaps this has been discussed many times but could you guys tell me what to do to prevent this from occuring? Put the file in USB drive (its better if the drive is empty so its easier to select the BIOS files) and open up BIOS (press F2 during startup) and click Start Easy Flash. Make sure the battery is inserted so if there is power failure it won't disrupt the flashing process |

QUOTE(RedDevils88 @ Feb 11 2011, 02:17 PM) Whatever you heard, the GPU plays major role in gaming, CPU comes second. Most games still better with fast dual cores than slow quads except for some like GTA IV. Even Pentium P6x00 is good enough for games if it coupled with good graphics |

CPU and GPU in laptop could handle up to 110C (depends on architecture), don't go for "water boiling" danger, because transistor ain't made from water. Having quads in small formfactor do have its downside especially when coupled with midrange GPU. Do you use laptop cooler in the first place? Make sure it cools in the right place, where the CPU and GPU HSF is

QUOTE(mekboyz @ Feb 20 2011, 11:33 AM) hmm anyway he didnt tell us his laptop's specs. btw forgot to mention, dont game with your battery attached. it will just cause more heat. i still think his laptop is dusty inside. the fans, heatsink are clogged His laptop is A42Ja, I checked all his post in this thread before posting that. I doubt dust clogged that fast. It took quite a few months for dust to clog a heatsink, maybe up to a year or more. But the battery is good point, if you plugged to the wall, remove the battery no matter if you just browsing or playing games, the heatsink location is very close to the battery |
