just fly the HBFP as it is ... by the time u start changing and upgrading etc etc .. u will find out that the costs of those change and upgrades can amount to a new heli or much more than your HBFP
in this case u might as well just get the HBFP v2 is that is your cup of tea |

QUOTE(daddoo @ Jan 6 2012, 03:26 PM) Qiw, that Gaui GU-344 nice ar? the gu-344 is ok la ... acceptableIf I want to DIY a quad copter can that be used or not? Chongster, you can consider to sell your HBFP and use the $$$ to fund a better heli. it depends on the frame u are building it only takes quads .. + or x mode that video u put is the infamous WARTHOX from RCG ... a very well known quad flyer i think almost nobody flies like him ... maybe one day i can fly like him .. hehehe he was using a MULTI WII CONTROLLER board ... very nice but needs to work on machine codes a bit i think i am getting a MWC myself ... its in the mail but ALL IN ONE board instead of having to solder 2-3 boards together if u DIY everything from wood like me ... then roughly rm300 for motors & ESCs & cables etc then add in the cost of the flight controller that u wanna use one of my flight controller is this one .. the one in the video is the early units |

the HBK boards is a KK board ...
i find the quality of the HBK board a bit inconsistent with a fren's one ... depends on your luck i suppose if u choose to go the KK way .... then the RED boards from SG is good .. i have purchased at least 5 from them ... so far no reported faults ... choose normal mail instead of EMS to save $$$ ... hehehehe this is another board i have (somebody recorded it with a samsung galaxy NOTE ... video quality quite nice worr) .. flew with couple of guys yesterday ... hehehe this board will not do acrobatics ... it is for stable flying if u want accro like your earlier video then u will need the MULTI WII CONTROLLER ... or a well tuned KK |

the FYE X4 frame was something i wanted before ... then looking at my pocket .. no $$$$ ... so DIY la
its a nice frame .. with built in LEDs sommo but if u wanna do aerobatics flips etc ... i dont think that is the frame for u .. u need something less fragile .. hehehe maybe u can DIY from CF material .. that will be excellent |

the DJI frame has some issues ... but the primary selling point is the power distribution and crash resistant
those issues may or may not affect some ppl depending on what they electronics they use the wooden frame i made only cost me rm5 .. not usd8 |

QUOTE(Chongster @ Jan 11 2012, 02:15 PM) Just changed the fly bar to the Align 450 compatible fly bar. A bit longer, and more durable and more stable flight now. Both are on 2mm But then, I just snapped the paddle control frame's ball. Really thinking of changing this component to metal type... longer flybar will give u more stability but u have to sacrifice response and speed |

QUOTE(daddoo @ Jan 11 2012, 12:30 PM) Hehehehe, care to share with me how you made yours? the ez option will be to buy the HBK usd7.95 one .. not badI thought that the start up cost to buy and DIY will cost more to buy a frame like the HBK carbon fiber one .... how i made mine ... 2 x plywood (100mmx100mmx2mm) .. i use cake boards from cake supplier >> rm0.70 per piece and cut to size 1 x square wooden stick (12mmx12mm) ... some hardware shops will have this ... just tell them 1/2 inch piece of wood ... its 6ft long >> rm2.50 motor mounts cut from excess from cake board >> free take piece of paper .. draw 2 lines perpendicular take your 2 pieces of plywood .. make a mark in the exact center .. then draw 2 perpendicular lines that aligns to your arms cut the long wood for arms according to the length of quad u wanna make put plywood and align the lines to paper then put the arms u cut on top of that piece of playwood and align to lines on paper too then sandwich the other piece of plywood onto the arms u can epox/CA/screw the arms onto those pieces of plywood ... but make sure it is secure then cut 4 45mmx45mm square plywood pieces for your motor mounts ... mark the center points of these pieces u can epox/CA/screw those mounts onto your arms ... all same distance from the center of your plywood if your distance pf center of mount to center of quad is 200mm then wheel diameter is 400mm .. that is your quad size u mount the motors .. and ESCs ESCs u can cable tie onto arms or somewhere ... anywhere oso can then all 4 red/black cables from ESC goes into 1 ... to connect to your battery mount flight controller as close to CG as possible (the center of the quad is the CG) connect ESCs and RX to flight controller as per flight controller specs/settings check for motor directions as required by flight controller calibrate ESCs as per flight controller put rotor blades on ... (try and balance the blades to minimise vibrations) u are now ready to fly ... hehehehe Added on January 11, 2012, 2:48 pm QUOTE(Chongster @ Jan 11 2012, 02:39 PM) I am good to sacrifice the response and speed at the moment so that I got a bit more air (hover) time as I am still very very beginner on this practice makes perfect ... u can only get better thru more practice/flight timeThis post has been edited by QiW: Jan 11 2012, 02:48 PM |

QUOTE(daddoo @ Jan 15 2012, 06:10 PM) Qiw, that DJI flame wheel is hard to break u can use any frame with any board ..What motor can be installed to this frame? If I want to use the KK board on this frame ok ar? if u plan to use this for aerobatics then u might face some issues ... this F450 frame is HEAVY !!! u need something light with higher kv motors (1000-1300kv ... diameter 26-28mm) depending on your prop and frame size even DIY frame oso much lighter ... and perfect for aerobatics the 1st video u posted doing flips etc etc is a DIY frame .. but made by a PRO laa .. hahahahaa but if your intention is aerobatics .. better go for MULTI WII CONTROLLER those have 3 gyros and 3 accelerometers .. much better and u can fly in aerobatic mode or stable mode (self leveling) just by flicking a switch on your radio it is much more hassle trying to tune a MWC compared to KK ... need to read some as well as trial and error KK is capable too ... but stability wise it loses out to a MWC |

QUOTE(Hari Seldon @ Jan 16 2012, 09:57 AM) Guys, for a beginner (noob) with severely limited experience in RC helicopter, would this model be adequate for learning purpose? Or must I invest in a properly built model in order to get a truer feel? perfect !!!http://www.lelong.com.my/outdoor-heli-sing...7-01-Sale-I.htm very good choice .. it will fly exactly like a 6 channel with the exception of not being able to go inverted |

QUOTE(daddoo @ Jan 16 2012, 12:41 PM) Is this the multi wii controller you are talking about? yup ... that is the CRIUS SE EDITION ... with baro and compasshttp://www.infinity-hobby.com/main/product...roducts_id=7886 i have the LITE version on the way ... hope it gets here this week LITE version no baro no compass so it is cheaper Added on January 16, 2012, 2:18 pm QUOTE(shgx700 @ Jan 16 2012, 01:08 PM) yup ... inverted = upside downthe heli is small so quite resistant to crashes u just have to watch out for the tail motor when u crash .. if it flies out of its grip holder then wires will break and u loss a motor ... secure that motor anyway u can so that crashes have less chances of losing that motor This post has been edited by QiW: Jan 16 2012, 02:18 PM |

if u plan on aerobatics ...
frame size about 350-400mm diameter/wheel size/length good budget ESC .. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/u...?idproduct=6548 or .. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/u...?idproduct=4312 or .. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/u...idproduct=11429 the BLUE SERIES are good .. PLUSH oso .. and the HK SS CARD PROGRAMMABLE if u go with something about 350mm size ... then this motor .. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/u...idproduct=18151 with the BLUE SERIES 12a ESC these props .. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/_...ating_6pc_.html the HBK 8x4 requires lots of balancing (vibrations are copter gyro killers) or the GAUI 330X props ... the gaui ones are 8x4.5 (these better balanced) then just DIY your quad ... save alot .. hehehe alternatively u can buy the warthox quad from his website .. hahahahaha |

all my current frames are DIY .. light and easily repaired/replaced
i have another spider style frame on the way .. for FPV purposes no quad to sell currently .. no money/space to build and keep la bigger ESC = more weight and harder to place on your quad not to mention more expensive but yes ... u can use bigger ESCs |

QUOTE(daddoo @ Jan 18 2012, 01:53 PM) Qiw, what KV of the motor is needed for a 350mm ~ 400mm quad? the above motor is good to fly and does not suck batt kow kowCompare to the SK3 aerodrive motor and the one above from HBK, what's the difference? I notice that multircshop also sell motor, are those good ar? so very good for simply flying around ... but is bell type design .. mounting not really conventional the sk3 motor is smaller slightly with more kv >> more suitable for aerobatics and lighter type of quad i mentioned the sk3 coz u wanna go flip flip roll roll maa ... hahahahaaa 350-400mm diameter ... anything from 700kv to 1200kv should be no prob laa depending on prop size ... 8 to 10inches with pitch 4 to 5 inch in the end ... it depends on what u want your quad to do same like single rotor heli ... scale flying and 3D flying setup and requirement not the same |
