For me the D90 ori grip also so so feel, that's why I bought the 3rd party  , fr the MB-D11 i expect it to be around the same as D7000 body(Which is less solid than a D300 but better then D90) which in other words means that it won't feel as solid as MB-D10

There is a limit to what a f/2.8 lens can do. There is a limit to what an f/1.4 can do, or even an f/1. Going below 0EV and even an f/1 lens and ISO 102400 on a D3s can't save you. The best solution is always to look for light, not equipment.

Apparently not obvious enough, for strange reasons everyone is obsessing over higher and higher ISOs and wider and wider apertures.

I see some people discussing about 50mm and 35mm... are they good?

still thinking to get 35mm f/1.8 or 50mm f/1.4... both are really good for me but still have to choose one of it... =(

hey edward, im really sorry for ur lost, if im not mistaken, ur cam was being snatched by someone rite?? sometimes i will feel worried about it when i put my cam in my car boot, feels like someone stare and mark me when i put it in the boot... just got a bad feeling for it....

I totally agree with you on the limits. Thats why I said look for it. Its not obvious everytime where it is. A lighted corridor is light. A passing car is light. Streetlight and neon signs give very interesting light. In that tiny 5 or 10 percent of time you really cant find it, is a blurry noisy picture that hard to accept? Surely in that situation technical finesse is second fiddle to just capturing the moment? Contrast that with thousands spent, just for readiness in that tiny 10% chance situations. But still even then surely one cannot expect equipment and lenses to somehow magically turn night into day, which is what troubles me to see happening.

As for sports, i generally find it to be quite well lit, a moderately up to date body with mid range f/1.8 prime would be more than sufficient. A tennis court, basketball court or even football at night is more well lit than a restaurant interior. Indoor games do not have a no flash rule, afaik.

As for affordability, it would appear to me that many here cant, or is sacrificing a great deal just to afford the equipment. Some are on parents tabs, some selling phones to buy lenses, some sacrificing a whole years savings, taking loans and instalments, and so on. Instead of encouraging them on, i would instead like to show them that there are many other ways that do not include spending their hard earned, hard saved money. I can, now, afford comfortably any lens I'd like to own, and I do, but I have been down that road of sacrificing dinner for lenses, and it is in my view, a very much unnecessary pain.

And sorry for your loss. I use padded pouches and put my gear in environmentally friendly reusable shopping bags. Rarely do I use a camera bag anymore. Nobody wants to snatch groceries...
