Get use to the distance. That's the only way.
After using my 50mm for a while, I kinda know how far I need to stand already by just looking at the subject I gonna shoot.

Now 95% of my photos are taken with 50mm, my 18-105 and NEX sleeping in drybox already

Lol, why argue about kit lens lah

Kit lens is a primary lens that helps you to learn DSLR, until after you know how to operate the DSLR already, then only go for pro lens and start making money with your photos.

Pro lens can give you sharpness, dof or range you can't achieve with kit lens, but neither 1 lens, they still capture pictures for you. Capture of the moment is still the most important, no?

VR on 18-55 is common, why not? Even pro lens like 16-35 f/4 has VR2, shorter than 18-55 what? Why don't argue on that?

I don't see any problem with people buying 18-55. It's a very convenient lens for normal casual use. Cheap if buy second hand also.

There's no crap lens in this world, lomo lens, jelly lens yada-yada. As long as the lens can focus the object and help you take photo, it's good.

I have this tripod too
It holds my D300 nicely. D90 should have no problem.

No idea how much it is now, but last time I got it with my D90 together. I top up RM80 to get this instead of the digieye brand one

Now it serves as my flashgun stand lol, my primary tripod is my dad's manfrotto

No specific model one lah, but if you want a recommended one, go for apacer AM400 or AM500. Can transfer very fast at stable speed
