Hi - another bassist reporting in. Look forward to learn from some of u sifus.
Can everyone do an intro pls. Start with mine.
Been playing for a couple of years, mostly church duty. Bias to modern jazz, blues, funk and R&B.
Rig -
Curbow 5 w barto mk2 pickup & eq
Washburn XB 4 stringer
Yamaha RBX775 (sold to another lowyatter - twistail where are u?)
Ampeg B2 combo
No effects box !!
how did u record ur sample basslines?
For me, slightly better in play than my previous rbx775. Great tone range but but less woody sounding than the Yamy. Were you able to dial up the Jaco sound?
The rbx is cool while it lasted. Ampeg is very good, but am eyeing swr

Yo jc133, welcome! Yup, we are using the same bass! Good to know another user...where did u obtain yours? And what color?
Ampeg liao...ampeg

Have u tried other ampeg? I think i use B2 before at a show, but the one that totally impressed me is Portabass. 1000w in puny head, and played through 4x10, stabs through ur soul!
Since u eyeing a SWR, would u let go ur Ampeg?
I record that sample, just by plugging it into mic port through a big jack to small jack converter (i'm on laptop using built-in sound card). Adjust the mic volume, that's it...
Curbow...hmmm, i like the design and the weight. It's so light compared with other bass. The neck is fast and awesome. The bart's also...considering i got it at 1.6k, it's quite a deal. As for tone, i like the modern tone it produce and the slap tone especially. So juicy. Jaco sound, well that's quite hard. He's on fretless with a roundwound strings...quite hard to reproduce it on fretted. I never tried extensively anyway...but nothing is impossible.
Oh btw, some more intro from me... I played for two and half years already i think, more into modern rock but i like standard tuning more than the usual down tuning.

just bouncing about the "improvisation" game... you, all the bass heads guys, would you like to do some improvisations stuff too ? If I record some funky or jazzy track with one guitar and drums as a backtrack, who would be interested to participate ?
Well, it's a good thing but i really doubt i'm up to the job...i try my best

Hope u can provide notes or tabs for the guitar and some info for the drums. Hope it won't hassle u much

man, i started the thread but now i'm lost ! hehe actually didn't have time to post any. well, as for my opinion (eventho this may be off topic coz i don't know the main topic here!) bassist usually very low-profile. and some people said that bassist are the people who fail to play guitar. so they turned to bass. whatever it is, bassist kick-a$$ !!
my 'weapon' :
Ibanez SRX500
Ibanez SoundWave 20W
D'Addario Bright Sound strings
i like my sound to be 'fat' and very low metal noise. still learning very hard to fully use my fingers. sorry but, who is nikki sixx ? my bad, as i'm new to the bass world. hope to learn more from u guys.
is it true that billy sheehan couldn't read score and don't even knew the chord ? he play by heart.
Nikki Sixx is from Motley Crue...he's on Gibson Thunderbird IV but he got his own Gibson signature bass too -->
http://www.gibson.com/products/gibson/Bass...kisixxbass.htmlHehehe, i can't play guitar for nuts man and pple keep on telling me it's the same thing...
Fat sounding, no wonder u got urself am SRX. How u lower down the metal noise since u have twin hot humbuckers?
Dunno about the billy sheehan but i read/heard about it somewhere...
