If ever your N8 failed to boot up (mean pressing the power button but no response), do as follow:
1. Verify is it a SW hang by long press the power button >7.5 seconds to force shutdown the N8. This is for SW hang scenario 2. Plug in the charger and wait for AT LEAST 15 minutes, then try to boot up. This is for depleted battery scenario 3. If you are SURE the battery not depleted and got the DEAD N8, send to NCC for checking as it might be defective hardware related issues.
From experience, the N8 can't be Hard Reset once it's failed to boot up normally or so call "DEAD N8".

4. From what I've observed the phone AMOLED will start to turn off start at "ST BLACK-04.bmp", "ST BLACK-03.bmp", "ST BLACK-02.bmp", "ST BLACK-01.bmp",
"ST BLACK-00.bmp".
5. The screen dark "stains" will sufface as well during these few color cards.
6. Start from "ST BLACK-05.bmp" onward the dark "stains" will be not so visible.
7. All these have to be done in total darkness room as these defective "stains" are not visible at all when the surrounding are bright.
After you seen these result DO NOT simply bash N8 straight away as we're not sure why/how the AMOLED display technology work and how it perform on other
devices. Anyone can use these color cards to verify on others AMOLED display devices as well...

If you encounter the thing that the Nokia N8 won't charge and worst, if the battery was drained and the N8 shutted down and won't charge or power on, try the following steps.
1. Connect the charger supplied with the N8 to other compatible Nokia phones, like E72 like I did. 2. Wait for the other device (E72) to start charging. 3. After it starts charging, remove the charger from it (E72). 4. Now, try to charge the N8 using the supplied charger that you used with the other device previously (E72). 5. Wait for the N8 to charge or start. 6. DONE!
From user's post over ther, I found that about one-fifth or more has dead-phone problem. And unfortunate that ... in Thailand, Nokia has no policy to return, refund or even change the phone...

From what I learned here, Arista is for company or corporate I think. And Zitron and Avaxx is for consumer like ourselves. But all 3 of it holds the same warranty. Correct me if i'm wrong ya

yes you are correct, and Arista do provide 1 year warranty for the phone, 3 months for the accessories...
if you are looking for nokia n8, you can actually go to public bank e-mall, they giving out 12 months installment plan, only RM129 per month

Last night i charged 100% then i left it on the the night. Afternoon i woke up , seeing my battery left 30% and discovered that GPS is available. Wtf?
Hmmmm... too many of such complains already. Battey depleting due to mysterious applications being loaded and running. I guess that the firmware is trying to be smart or it's trying too much to emulate the iPhone functionality. Guess there's nothing much we can do until the next fw update.

whatapps in android also to be known for draining the battery, but it can be closed/disabled compare to symbian version, symbian version will still run in background and keep connecting to 3G/wifi even after it is closed.

As the more I think and the more I cross check with the service manual I really worry the change of the MoBo for the N8 are really easily been mess up by those un-train or un-skillful NCC technicians...

Last night i charged 100% then i left it on the the night. Afternoon i woke up , seeing my battery left 30% and discovered that GPS is available. Wtf?
Sometimes user provide insufficient info might lead to confusion my experience. Have you by any chance turn on geo tagging? Could be ovi maps load by itself? Maybe use the old version of garmin that cause battery drain

whatapps in android also to be known for draining the battery, but it can be closed/disabled compare to symbian version, symbian version will still run in background and keep connecting to 3G/wifi even after it is closed.
You wan to confirm whether the phone got problem or maybe u might accidentally turn on something you shouldnt try hard reset and use few days without installing. If no problem you have the answer. If got problem send for warranty

even if ovi maps or camera use the gps, after switch off the program, the gps should also off automatically, my 6720c dont have this issue, my camera is set to geo tagging but when i off my camera, the gps will turn off by itself

pakcik... D drive itu RAM lah mana ada 4g, itu semua p0rn patut simpan kat E/F drive lah...

From my experience if you dont use it often and dont travel alot ovi is great. If u travel alot and always rely on gps its better use garmin for the up to date map. You havent get lost before where the gps bring you in circle when you are rushing asking you to turn into a dead end. haha

I go outing with friends alot so sometimes they ask u lets meet at this new place name Ah lian kopitiam at this this place i never go before. You type in ovi u wont get any result. Then you ask your friend any name of places nearby your friend guess guess also.
if u use garmin high possibility u will get a result of the ah lian kopitiam due to the mappers are locally and update very frequent.
So for me i choose which software with the most up todate maps not how good the software is

It's very obvious Garmin win in terms of updates. OVI Maps map data are sooo out-dated. Ish, why cannot change the map to Malsing Map or something?

what's with the malay speaking sifu lol . That happen because tinted too strong. I face that issue on Nokia N97 and 5800XM. Nokia N8 seems to be alright just slower lock time

but but but... that dumb dumn heading orientation turning really annoying leh....
not my n8 , but my previous xm 5800 . . my n8 still using OVI maps ,not install garmin yet .
the satelite signal do have improvement but what i dislike is still the annoying heading orientation error... when i stop car it will turn here & there like turtle head...

i think you can adjust the settings on your wlan..just put everything manually

capdase will have problem with ur menu button and camera button . * hard to press. i just use perforated case , love the color variant .

oh i c, i wana ask perforated case is just like the nokia spine case? i mean hard case? coz i just see the color nice but duno how is the quality.. xD nice to use ar tis touch case? coz just see the picture duno good anot.. true also, naked body is the best..but scare later drop or....some "accident"...den cham liao..
