Because Android itself can already manage the processes well. They're not running in your background, they're just stored in the background and not using any resources at all. I would post a link to Android Dev's page that advise you that you don't need a task manager apps but I can't find it. Will post it later if I found it.

Agreed, I just did a unscientific test. I tried opening all the apps in my phone till the memory is low, yet I didn't find any difference in speed.

Class 4 should be good enough for A2SD. Either class 4 or 6, don't waste a class 10 on it.

Optimum? Certainly Class 10. But like Lucasssss said, there's no need to go that far. A class 4 or 6 will do just fine. Class 10 would be awesome though. Your phone will be zippy!
