I have a question here (dunno whether this has been asked here or not). Can we use astro beyond but not suscribing to HD channel?If we use Byond but no HD Channel, can we still use the HDMI cable to connect to LCD?
Actually I was AstroMax (AM) user. 2 months ago, Astro called me to change the AM to Beyond PVR for free. my 1st corncened was, "then i have to pay extra RM20 every month(for HD Channel) just to change the decoder"?What the hell?
The astro guy explain to me that they only change the decoder due to the AM will be not available in market in the future. later i can decide whether to subscribe or not the HD. the other condition i was told, i will be charged Rm10 every month for the recording but in my case, they waived the RM10 for 24 months. I asked again what if after 24 months?He said, i can make a call to Astro not to continue with the service.
Since i have no choice, i agreed to change from AM to BYOND PVR. After BYOND was installed for several days, i just realized that I have the HD channels...S***.....WTF...
I called astro for explaination.....they said, they can terminate the HD but the RM 10 will still charge to me after 24 months free expired. WTF again..i request to hear again the 1st conversation since i believed they recorded every teleconversation with customers...
they keep calling me for several days to explain that they make mistake but still cant produce the 1st recording conversation..they said they will change the decoder to the the normal beyond (without PVR)...for Byond PVR, it must have 2 cable from the dish...since my house have a built in astro cable in the wall, they hacked to install the 2nd cable...I told the astro, no point if they change the decoder because they already hacked my wall which look bad...i said i want to report to NCC as they make mistake and i have to bear the cost...this issue was dragged for several weeks and lastly i have to accept because there is no other option to fight for this issue because they are playing with TnC...WTH....
so i have to proceed with the RM 10 after 24 months expired for i dunno until when.....maybe forever ....
last 2 days, i can't watch my Astro...the problem is, no signal when i turn both units (TV and decoder). Surprisingly when i remove the smart card, i can see the setting home (without the content) and hear the sound but when i inserted back the card, still no signal
i make a call to Astro to complain and they told that within 48 hours, technician will call to set the appointment. Nobody call me within 48 hours but this morning i received a phone call from the technician saying that i need to try using other AV cable befor ehe can come to my house. I need to wait after office hour to try....
Lucky to me, I am also AM user. Astro call me last month promoting 2 years free for PVR service but not for A. Byond service. If I change my decoder (Astro MAX) to this PVR decoder. After 2 year I have to pay Rm10 monthly but for AM (Astro Max) it is FREE. They told me that the AM will not function after NOV 2010. but until today. My AM still working fine.
On top of that AM can record 1 channel and watch another different channel at same time. but for normal Byond (with additional) WD External Hard Disk. The function is limit to record on the channel we viewed. (just like back to the 80's Video Recorder). Only the PVR can record 2 different channel and watch another channel at the same time. but for this we have to pay additional RM10.00 (again Astro make money from us)
